MY REVIEW
I fell asleep like 15 minutes into it, So that is what?, Like halfway through the 2nd song?. kinda boring. Way to long of songs. |
ok, in my opinion this cd is excessive overkill, it's like they're trying to be faster and heavier then Dechristianize, not like they're trying to write a follow up to a deathmetal masterpiece. on the whole it's not bad but it's not something that you can randomly throw in the cd player, it's one of those 'need to be in the mood for blast-a-riffic blasphemy'
Glen's vocals sound like they piecemealed the lyrics from Dechristianize together, his vocals bore me, I would have rather seen a better singer on this CD.
The songs could be shorter, I'll agree with todd on that note. I can see having one or two 8+ minute epic blast fests on a CD, but with all the songs (save the intro and last track) all clocking in, in the 6~9 minute range, it's just too much.
The musicianship, I can't knock these guys in that department, Dave and Tony's guitar work is sick, Dave's drumming is insane (although a bit overkill at points, and I'm not a fan of the snare trigger sound). The songwriting is good, albeit lengthy, occasionally feels like rehashed Dechristianize at points (i.e. the melodic break in the first song)
I can see this album growing on me like Dechristianize did, maybe not as much, but I can see myself getting into the mood for this once in a while. |

i dont think dave triggers his snare drum |

I dunno, it's a possibility, but it sounds triggered. I know he's a sick drummer, but the snare hits are too consistent to not be triggered. he may not trigger it live, but (I could be wrong) I think he probably triggers it in the studio.
either way, I won't knock his ability, not many drummers could blast for 8 minutes straight... |
I serousily don't think Dave can do blasts without obscene double bass, gets kinda obnoxious. |

The whole kit is most likely sound replaced. |
I dunno it sounds alot like Derek Roddys snare hits, maybe hes using the same snare, and he doesnt trigger his snare. I dunno I dunno Idunno |
triggered toms usually means triggered snare. |
could be, mike was playing on his kit and apparently he wasnt triggering his snare at their room. |
I really liked this. I does sound like Dechrisianize part II, but I do not see that as a bad thing. The sound is much better. The riffs are great. Glenn is even singing better on this one. It is like they took what they had and fixed what they didn't like.
I even got a kick out of the Yngwie Malmsteen cover. This is a really good record, I don't mind the long song length so that issue that irks others didn't faze me.
i dont mind the song length this time around. they are all like 7 minutes plus like dechristianize... but the songs are written better so it doesnt get annoying like when they played each song twice to achieve the 8 minute song length on the last one. |
NICE! Disciples of Hell! This is seriously badass. |

I wish Anthony could have done vocals on this! |
nothin wrong with sound replacing as long as you use your own drum sounds |
shit, I didn't even notice it at first, not until you said something about the Malmsteem cover. |
I thought that title looked familiar. |
