does your doctor find out when you refill a prescription?

toggletoggle post by nagger at Feb 15,2007 5:48pm
got anything good?

toggletoggle post by Dwellingsickness at Feb 15,2007 5:48pm edited Feb 15,2007 5:49pm
Yes, Seeing as he usually writes them, Or if it is an emergency room script, They usually send your doc a note. It also stops you from going back and saying you lost the script and trying to get another one haha.

I don't think so. I got an extra bottle of percs from my doctor when I broke my elbow when I said I had run out but I still had another refill on the original RX

toggletoggle post by Agrippa at Feb 15,2007 5:49pm
the pharmacy usually calls your doctor to get an ok to give you more

toggletoggle post by pam   at Feb 15,2007 5:49pm
Maybe he just didn't pay attention.

toggletoggle post by Agrippa at Feb 15,2007 5:50pm
but thats if you dont have any refills

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 15,2007 5:50pm
I have a script from my dentist and it says 2 refills by 2-22-2007. I'd like to get the refill, but I don't want to do it if my dentist would find out.

toggletoggle post by Agrippa at Feb 15,2007 5:51pm
if youve got the 2 refills then they probably wont call him

If it is a Narcotic, say, Percocet(which is a C-II controlled substance.)
They will call him to check.

toggletoggle post by Agrippa at Feb 15,2007 6:06pm
Im with nagger on this one. Definitely worth a shot. If it doesnt work you walk away looking like a junky. Is that so bad?

toggletoggle post by Dwellingsickness at Feb 15,2007 6:13pm
It also depends if your insurance will cover it, Some will only do a refill every so many days,If it has been long enough , you should have no problem.

even if he has the ability to find out, he writes so many perscriptions and refills that he probably won't pay any mind to them.

I don't know how it works with dentists or other hospitals, but when any of the doctors in the brockton ER write a perscription they aren't notified of the perscription being filled. most of the other med students use this to their advantage and steal perscriptions.

it depends what it it, i have 3 perscriptions right now, for lithium, verapamil, and one other one that i cant remember. those are nothing fancy so it doesnt matter, but when i went to fill one for vicodine they had to call the hospital and verify with the doctor and all this other bullshit. Its just a matter of wether its a widelt abused drug ore not, most of the time.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 16,2007 9:26am
hm.. it's for vicc's.

toggletoggle post by KeithMutiny  at Feb 16,2007 9:28am
then they will prolly call the perscribing doctor and verify it.
