To all those bands that play real average metalcore/hardcore...but swing guitars and jump off things..to at least look like something intresting is happening....great work, you look real cool.
Thanks for shutting down venues with ''i hate my parent''... like ceiling destruction.
your music is awful.

sahara club might be....

Metalcore kids are spending more time practicing their guitar whips than learning how to play em.

toggletoggle post by SteveOTB   at Feb 9,2007 10:49am
I'm sorry.

I'll play guitar, only if we use drop C tuning and don't use technical riffing so I can jump around and break shit

agreed. it's unfortunate.

I'll play drums and karate kick in the air off of my bass drum. Then I will whip a few dozen sticks into the ceiling while in the process engraving our bands initials.

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Feb 9,2007 12:00pm
we can only practice once a month, and write songs no longer then 3 minutes, and we have to play a show after our second practice, so we can get our name out super fast

toggletoggle post by atthehaunted  at Feb 9,2007 12:03pm
breakdowns, many breakdowns

I was just practicing my spin-kicks and I think I put my back out. Sadly I will not be able to try out for this project.

Andy...hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Was it because Nate Johnson put his bass through the ceiling?

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Feb 9,2007 12:59pm
What the hell is the Sahara Club and what happened?

BEEEEEEEEEEF

toggletoggle post by nickyhelliot  at Feb 9,2007 1:02pm
The Sahara Club is a very small venue in Portland Maine. Porphyria, The Network, and The architect played there a few weeks ago and Nate Johnson put his bass through the ceiling tiles a few times. Some one broke one over my head. Blah Blah Blah, disrespect happens to a lot of venues, and the kid who booked the show should man up and pay for it.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Feb 9,2007 1:04pm
shouldnt it be up to the person who broke it to man up and pay for it?

toggletoggle post by nickyhelliot  at Feb 9,2007 1:06pm
Yeah, but he didn't.

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Feb 9,2007 1:09pm
I've been to quite a few shows where someone put a hole in the wall, or broke a window accidentally. These are usually the types of shows where everyone knows eachother, and they know the kid who booked the hall. So everyone throws in a buck, or whatever spare change they have and hand it over to the venue.

I also remember a show at the Lawrence KOC where kids were hitting eachother with foam ceiling tiles the whole show and no one did or said anything about it. So after 5 hours of this Bury Your Dead played and a bunch more ceiling tiles were destroyed. Everyone blamed BYD like it was all their fault. Figure out the moral of the story.

Moral: Don't play the Lawrence KoC?

I've been to a few shows down there, most of which were in the basement, and I haven't been back since like 2002 or 2003

so, when are we going to have the first official 'Ceiling Destruction' practice? I just thought up like 400 metalcore riffs in my head in the last 10 minutes...

yea, but this palce caters to mostly crusties, who may or may not have three dollars between the lot of them. reguardless, it was a rad place to play, and it sucks it's getting shut down.

Whenever we have stuff destroyed for the booking company I work for, we replace EVERYTHING as fast as possible. In a case with ceiling tiles I would have had someone go out and buy new ones asap. A whole in the wall could be fixed within an hour or so, as long as it's a while wall of course. People that book hardcore shows like this need to do one of two things... either explain to the crowd/bands before hand that this would cause the place to be shut down so take care of it, or immediately do repairs and maintenance after the show. From what it sounds like the people at the Sahara Club just left everything as is. It's up to the person running the show to take care of these things. If you have bands that are more than likely going to destroy stuff, make all of them sign a short and simple contract stating that if that happens they will have to pay for it.

When I booked the Dover Elks I was there for probably 45 minutes afterwards cleaning bathrooms, parking lots etc., these things come with the territory. If you book a venue it is up to you to create a professional and responsable way of handling any damage.

I'm in. I'm not actaully going to play or sing. I'm just going to hang from rafters and make sure destruction of private property is happening.

ha ha ha, oh well, metal isn't about about serenity and non-passive aggression. I wouldn't hold just Nate responsible for said incidents.

when I booked the dover elks, while cleaning, someone came out from the bar and told me to stop, and that every saturday morning someone comes and cleans the big room and the parking lot and that I didn't have to.
A few weeks later I'm told that I'm personally not allowed to book there because I left the place a mess.
fucking lame.
