I just got into these guys earlier this year when I found out they had a big influence on Opeth. This article about Lee Kerslake leaving the band got me wondering if any of you guys like them. In my opinion, an incredibly underated band.

always a few steps behind Deep Purple musically. lyrically basically invented the Sword & Sorcery/Fantasy genre.
Even the great albums have their share of junk, but you're safest with:

Very 'Eavy, Very 'Umble (this record was a huge influence on Rainbow's 1st 3)
Look At Yourself
Demons and Wizards (their best)
Magician's Birthday
Sweet Freedom
Wonderworld
Return to Fantasy (John Wetton on bass, here and on the next 2 weaker lps)

The John Lawton-era is weak, except for maybe Firefly and Innocent Victim... their last 3 are really good, and they never really put out a 'classic live album'.

I don't own Sea of Light but the stuff I heard from it sounded pretty good.
