On Sunday January 21st, while on tour and staying at a friend's apartment in Chicago, IL, Massachusetts-based metal band The Auburn System's van was broken into which resulted in a loss of rougly $7,000 in stolen equipment, merchandise, personal effects and damages to their vehicle.



In light of the incident, the band has cancelled the west coast portion of their tour.



Here's a statement from the band:



"We are not the first band this has happened to, and we will certainly not be the last. Shit happens and you have to deal with it. There will be no PayPal account asking for your money. Additionally, ABSOLUTELY UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you donate to a PayPal account that "a friend of ours, not us set up" or to a PayPal account that was "set up without the band knowing about it" by some "anonymous friend." If you' like to help in any way, just come out to a show and buy whatever merch we have left. We are going to finish the last couple weeks of our tour. The dates are listed below, and if you can help us fill in one of the TBA dates, that would be helpful. We've had a couple cancellations. Thanks for all the kind words of encouragement we've received.

I think this is the most atrocious thing someone could do to a band on the road. they're all young, an dI know they don't have oodles of money to buy new shit. their new guitarist (ex-Seed lead guitarist) litterally just joined the band. that totally sucks to join a great local band, go on tour for the first time ever, and then get fucked in the ass with a 40grit sandpaper dildo.

I've had my fair share of shit stolen, but none of it was while I was far away from home. shit happening far away is just so much worse.

Shit happens, we are just doing what we can do to finish up the tour, because no one else is gonna do it for us. We got to get out there and finish what we can, cause what the fuck else are we gonna do? Sit home? Thanks for the kind words everybody. Out guitarist slept in the van overnight, because he was sleeping by the time that we got to our friend's apartment. He woke up that morning to the sounds of dudes trying to get into the van...they heard him and scurried away...he finally found what apartment we were staying in, and by the time we went out to the van to check on it, the damage had been done.

We have a Dodge Conversion Van. In the back, there are small ventilation windows, that you open for air. This is a similiar model vehicle...check where the blue arrow is to see what I'm talking about :

This is directly where our guitarist's head was when they heard him and saw him waking up...when they broke in, they went through the main side door, which you can also see in the picture...but that small window was smashed out, and stabbed through with a knife...they definitely werent trying to gain access through that small ass window, so our only logical conclusion is that they were going for him.

again, the whole situation is fucked up. I'm just glad jim didn't get hurt and that nothing else was stolen. i talked to both him and brandon, and im glad you guys are going back for the last 2 weeks of your tour.....don't let this bullshit stop you guys

when i was in cali someone just smashed the front window of our van in broad daylight... i couldnt believe it... we were like 100 feet away... We now religiously armor the van for anyone who has seen it.

ur van looks like its in waaaaaaay better shape than mine... so i dunno how ud feel about welding shit on the exterior... but if u need help doing that after we get back from tour hit us up.
