Lamb Of God’s National Television Debut!

Lamb Of God will perform LIVE on Conan O’Brien on Friday, February 9th! (Show starts @ 12:35 AM –technically on the 10th).

Band drummer Chris Adler states,
"It's exciting to think that national television has come far enough in our direction to actually let a metal band like us on the air! We are very excited for the opportunity not only for ourselves, but for the doors it will help to break down for heavy metal in general. We are flattered to be in this position, thankful to Conan and his staff for their invitation, and looking forward to proudly kicking some serious ass on National TV!!!"

Sacrament was good. I liked it alot.

what the fucks wrong with lamb of god anyways? they spit out good riffage on every album and its cats-ass tight. dont get it.

Lamb of God bothers me. Some of the faster riffs are OK, then it is spoiled by stupid metalcore breakdowns. I don't like the vocals either.

I don't have a problem if you like metalcore, I just don't.

i though Sacrament was a lackluster piece of trash. it seems they fell into the "we're Lamb of God, no matter what we write people will love it" and stopped trying to make good music. it was like a watered down Great Southern Trendkill.

Bullshit! With "Sacrament" they really discovered their own sound, while Ashes in the Way (which was a great album as well) was taking the Slayer formula but taking it to the next level. Vocals is not my favorite either, but the music is great. I just think Redneck is not the best song on the album.

I thought that everyone knew from the beginning they were a Meshuggah/Pantera ripoff band but worse. First album was mediocre at best.

After my above negative rant, I gave them another chance when "11th Hour (live)" came on Sirius radio well I was driving. I forced myself through about 30 seconds of the song and my opinion is unchanged -- no sir, I don't like it.

First off, The album is called Ashes of The Wake not Ashes in the Way. And LOG is by no means a Pantera/Meshuggah rip-off. I'm fairly certain that taking influence from a band and incorporating elements of it in your music does not qualify as a "rip off" unless identical riffs or song structures are directly taken and reused as the bands own work. If you want to listen to a valid example of a Pantera rip-off check out Orphaned to Hatred on myspace. Also, while Sacrement is not LOG's best work, I do think they made a good attempt at enhancing the songwriting process to make stronger and more powerful music. Did it work? That is to be disputed, but regardless I thought it was a good listen.

lamb of god has basically taken over all of the old idiotic jock pantera fans. if you ever have to see them nowadays you'll see for yourself.

a lot of lamb of god riffs also seem to sound a lot similar to testament.

I do not like Lamb of God. Here let me demonstrate how much...

If I found out today that one of Lamb of God's songs were playing over Dakota Fanning's rape scene in Hounddog I would not go see it.

eh, I'll agree about the song redneck, it's boring.

I'll be the frst to admit that I do like LoG, so flame all you want, its my opinion, not yours. Andy I give you credit for at least trying again, if it's not your thing, then it's not your thing, but kudos for at least giving them another shot.

I see alot of different influences in their music:
Meshuggah-esque choppy rhythms
Pantera-esque agression
Testament-esque triplet/thrash riffs

but I also see alot of other things:
vocally, Randy, may not be your favorite singer, but he can command the crowd, and that's one of the things that makes him a great frontman

the drummer has machine-like timing, not just in the studio, but live too

the tandem guitar work is really good, both guitarists are very talented.

so, while Lamb of God may not be your cup of tea, you can't deny that they have talent.

I mean, if you're going to say band X is a ripoff of band Y, you can say that about alot of local bands too, like:
Shroud is a rip off of My Dying Bride, Novembers Doom, and old Theatre of Tragedy (I'm not saying we're rip offs, but we draw HUGE influence from all of them, you get my point)

just because you show drawn influence from other bands, doesn't make you a rip-offf or a clone, it just shows where you draw influence from.

Chris Adler does a lot of the same rhythms in his drumming. I still like him and the band and I have no quarry with that.

I don't hate Lamb of God. It does seem like they're trying to follow the Pantera Career model. But I think there are alot worse bands out there that my extreme hatred is researved for like Trivium.

Almost every comment on Orphaned to Hatred's page says they sound just like Pantera. A sent a friend of mine A Perfect Murder song before and convinced him it was an unreleased Pantera song.

Listen to the first song on their first album. Are you going to tell me they didn't rip that mosh part (maybe 2 minutes into the song) off from future breed machine? C'mon...listen to them back to back. The only difference is the tuning, same guitar and drum composition.

this album was SUCH a letdown, i loved their first three

Burn The Priest is better than Lamb of God any day.

Anyways I think something like that is unavoidable these days with the amount of music out there, and in my opinion, context is everything. Using the same timing but mixing up the notes in the riff or vice versa in a different strong structure to me is influence. I think there is always going to be a debate over where to draw the line between influence and plaguerism. Thats my two cents.

Ashes of the Wake was great, but it really showed the power of Protools, which isnt necessarily good. its so easy to create a flawless album like that because you can sit and digitally edit everything. Sacrament was a grotesque over-usage of that ability. they just stopped writing creative stuff and left it up to the editing process. with As the Palaces Burn, NAG and the Burn the Priest stuff, you can hear things like his voice crack, which adds character and realism to it.

"FuckIsMySignature" is one blind fan. Can't this guy hear the Slayer Ripp off riffs in the 1st couple Lamb of God Albums? And he's bitchin about OROHANED TO HATRED? That band kicks ass, I would love to hear more real Pantera style bands instead of this death growl crap like Lamb of God!

I didn't watch on Conan but I saw the performance on YouTube....the song they played has to be the absolute worst they ever wrote. I always thought Lamb of God was alright, not great but not horrible either - but that song was awful.
