Finally 1349 and Averse Sifira tour! Why the fuck does this have to be at Mark's? I hate that venue. Lately all the good shows are passing by the palladium, does anyone know why?
damnit damnit damnit, why does this have to be the same day as Type O Negative in Worcester? fuckers.

Because the palladium sucks. It is full of 12 year olds in COB shirts that get dropped off by momy.
I went to see 3 inches of blood, who happened to be opening up for Cradle of filth there. there were a bunch of dudes wearing makeup there, and four seperate times I walked right up to dudes like that, told them they looked like a queer, and walked away with them doing nothing at all. It's actually really fun.

Do you think it they got 15 bands to play the ticket price would be more reasonable?
I heard that Deconformity isn't playing any more. Did anyone else hear that?

yeah but that club has a junkies point of view towards ticket sales, just get as many bands on the bill as possible and hope you make enough to cover the guarantee.
fucking retarded, how about just promoting the show and getting one or two locals who actually work their asses off. as much as it sucked its when shows like this get to NH and not the Palladium that makes me feel the need to drink more.
Zircon just got added to the show. We had a show in NY booked for a while and it was just canceled due to some bullshit. Bernie saw the bulletin I posted about the canceled show and gave us this show instead. I'd much rather play this show anyway.
Does anyone know if Frost is playing in this, because I know he can get in for when Satyricon plays in April... it says mixed things on several websites... just wondering if anyone knew.

thats awesome, congrats. i wish i could go, but Type O Negative calls.
This is going to be played on the same night as Type O. I might go to this show, but I'm not sure. It's all the way up in New Hampshire and I am practicly in Providence.

Oh please. Give me a break. Any show that has any mainstream band is going to have teeny boppers. It doesn't matter if it's Dragonforce, Type O Negative, Children of Bodom, or Slipknot. And that could happen anywhere that's big enough for them to play. Put Motorhead in the Palladium and there won't be a twelve year old in sight. I'm sick and tired of people ragging on the Palladium. Without that place we'd have shit for shows. The Avalon and the Middle East are too small, and the security at both establishments suck. I've seen people be kicked out for stage diving and running on the stage. That's bullshit. Why would I want to go there? The Tsongas arena is too big for most bands. Where else are bands going to play, Lupos? Please. Spare your stupidity for stupid people. The only thing wrong with the Palladium is it's sound, and that's nothing no one can do anything about. The building is built the way it's built, and it makes for a unique experiance.
Also, I have to give a shout out to Witchfinder General for delivering two great solid albums.

I've seen Motorhead at The Palladium, and there were still 12 year olds there. It doesn't matter who plays. There are always young kids at The Palladium because it's an all ages venue.

Mark's sucks even harder.TNT throws people out even for just headbanging. No car bar because of the security in the parking lot.A cop is usually waiting across the street to give you DUI.If you're from Mass they will only take a drivers license as a form of ID.The strippers can't even get fully naked........ They get atleast 6 local bands to open and sell tickets.Maybe that leaves them with more cash to lure in the national acts? The Palladium isn't perfect, but atleast you can get away with alot more.
That is definitely true about cops waiting to pull you over for DUI. The last time I went to Mark's, I was pulled over and given a sobriety test. I was completely sober, so I passed the test. Right after that, a friend of mine got a phone call from someone else who had been at Mark's that night, and they had just been pulled over and given a sobriety test as well.
I wasn't at the Unleashed/Belphegor show, but most of the people I know who were there got kicked out for really stupid reasons.
ok, I just got in. looks awesome. the line up is solid.
cold northern vengeance (7:30-8) second stage
averse sefira (8-8:30) main stage
zircon (8:40-9:10) second stage
nachtmystium (9:15-9:45) main stage
aura of aquila (9:50-10:20) second stage
goatwhore (10:25-10:55) main stage
mortis deveia (11:00-11:30) second stage
1349 (11:35-12:35) main stage
i just got in from new bedford. i wanted to go to this show, but i won't get there in time for nachtmystium so it ain't worth going. local bands playing after touring bands is the stupidest thing of all time, like the enslaved show when zircon played after enslaved. mark's needs to stop doing that shit. it's fucking retarded. lucky for me, nachtmystium is on a billion tours this year, so i'll see them when they come to boston with angelcorpse.
OoOoO mortis deveia got second to last slot? that's pretty sick
after goatwhore...haha
pretty sick? pretty foolish. that slot should go to one of the touring bands. no offense to mortis deveia, but i think the whole idea of alternating between stages and having some local bands on after some of the touring bands is a slap in the face to the touring bands. fuck that.
I wish it were snowing. I haven't been outside though.
Northern: (7:30-8) second stage - if I were from paul's town, I would probably catagories their set as "mint". Tons of people were there to watch them. A lot of these people turned and headed off when the set ended. Those people probably won't be seen again until 1349 goes on. They practiced a bit before people got in and were more than ready by the time they went on. Flawless performance, ending in a past forgotten. I always forget how good that song is. All the other songs they played were faster tempo'ed than "a past", but they have a touch of that cold northern enslaved sound to them.
averse sefira: (8-8:30) main stage - YES! Not for the band mind you, but for the fact that the lights were changing during the entire set. That rules and will mean awesome pictures. This band hasn't been around here in like 4-5 years. Since then, the main singer/guitar player lead dude has shaved his head and packed on a bit of weight. I think I heard some nick barker on guitar jokes. But beyond that, their stage presense has been upgraded over the years. So that now they actually move around the stage. Makes it so much more interesting to watch. I think a lot of people wrote them off since most people thought they broke up. Now they are on candle light so we will be seeing the name a lot more. they are also masters of makeup. The singer was dripping with sweat, but never messed up his face pentagram of thorns. the last song they played slayed anythin I've heard them do before.
zircon: (8:40-9:10) second stage - a lot of the usual zirconians either weren't here, weren't up front, or didn't want to get kicked out so early. so there was plenty of room in front of the stage.(maybe everyone was hung over from down?) Not as much headbanging as usual. The type o show probably hit them the hardest fan-wise. I'm not sure what anthony was playing, but I think it was the no-shirt headwheel and horn-throwing. They played their last song and then quickly broke into another last song, vastlands.
nachtmystium: (9:15-9:45) main stage - they were probably the best on a bill of 100% winners. they bring such a diverse crowd of people to a show. I'm always amazed at the people who I see coming out to see them. Punk to metal heads to indie kids. This band's music, as raw and straight black metal as it is, seems to transcend the genrefiers and is loved by all. After hearing them play, I really need that leviathan split. It sounded especially delicious. If you look back at my other pictures, you will notice that the bassplayer with the ass-length black hair shaved it off!!!! Eh, just kidding. There was a fill in cause he's on a nuclear sub or reactor or car or something. When I heard that, all I could think of was Dr. Strangelove. He's off working so no tour for him this time.
aura of aquila: (9:50-10:20) second stage - screamy black metal mixed with some parts that were a bit ballady. Anthony (Aegathis) was on their stage with them a lot. It was almost like he was in another band. The only thing about their set was the clean guitars didn't sound right. I think it was the sound their not adjusted for them. this was the bassist's (also anthony) last show.
goatwhore: (10:25-10:55) main stage - time #a lot shooting them in the past year. They are like a touring machine. The front packed up tighter than I've seen it yet. At this point, they started to pull people out for HUI (headbanging under the influence). That was sort of lame. GW's sound was awesome. The house system was set up perfectly to handle their change ups. All the vocals were right on and everything. I finally figured out why their liveset is so good. Ben sings/screams the lyrics like he's telling the audience a bayou story. All the hand gestures and all, it's like talking to my italian girlfriend when she's mad. It's awesome seeing people against the barricade (like bobby) who know every single word and sing along. They are coming back again in august and bringing back their mosulleum black metal to NH..
mortis deveia: (11:00-11:30) second stage - once again, anthony acted like he was in this band. Bastard. They sounded really good as usual, I mean, they are the house band here, right? I thought some people in the crowd were going to get booted for picking up a small dude (why does that sound so famiiliar?), but they never did it when the larger security dudes were looking. Luckly for them.
1349 is being better than you and the beatles combined right now. Bitch and Complain all you want, but Bernie brought an awesome fucking show to this area so shut up. This is the perfect # of people at one of these shows. it's crowded, but you can still move and go anywhere you want. awesome.
Sounds like a killer show, And people still fucking bitch. I say this to all the people who run their mouths......If you think you can do better, Open your own fucking club, Til then, shut up or don't go there.

the staff there sucks. the bouncers dont let you do shit other than make you feel uncomfortable and paranoid because they continuously watch you and stand right on you and all over you and you cant even hangout and get into the band without them kicking you out or messing with you. place is way to expensive, though i would have to say the touring bands were great and cnv should of gone on later since they were promised a better spot when they got fucked over the last show they were suppose to play.
im happy shows are happening but i still havnt seen a really cool club as in europe here in the states. im american so... im happy there are shows though. just staff bums me out at that place. im a grown up not a kid. let me have some fun. sorry for my bitching and complaining in advance.
perhaps their logic was "goatwhore plays around here more than the locals on this show, and one of said locals will bring more people than goat-'whore for shows'"
1349: (11:35-12:35) main stage - I had 3 songs to shoot and work my way around the crowd. Hopefully the pictures are ok.The reason was that after 3 songs they would be sweaty and nasty. I fully understand. It's a sweatbox in this friggin place AND they are wearing corpse paint. It looks like they took a leason from someone (averse safira?) cause it stayed on while they sweated. (attn marduk: take a lesson from these bands). Man, this band is so good. Their recordings are often too noisey/chaotic IMHO. This doesn't include hellfire, but their set was so tight. The only problem was the guitar stage left was way too quiet and near nonexistant at times. the vocals were louder than they are on most of the CDs so you could actually hear them and make them out. Some people thought that didn't sound right, but I perferred it. I got a lesson from brian oblivion about "it's the guitar tone" that wasn't right on the stage left guitar cause the level was the same as the stage right. either way, this was awesome. *sigh* now back to the real world.

EXACTLY, have fun at your sausage festival show.
Hahahaha, this was far from a sausage festival show. Lot's of woman.
The 2 stages thing works I think. You recognize that the other bands are local bands and it quickens the pace f the show. Zircon were great. I loved Nachtmystium, wish I could of heard the elad more. 1349 were tremendous. At the beginning they seemed quiet, but by mi way through it did feel very wall of sound like up front. Man they were sooooooo fast and sooooooo heavy.
Bernie does that shit cuz he thinks that right now Mark's is "the" palce to go/play in NH, so he charges so much fucking money.
The whole show was just ballsy. In My opinion, Goatwhore, Nachmystium, and Zircon were definitely the highlights. But that doesn't really matter because as the reverend said, it's a bill of 100% winners.
And by the way rev I didn't get to ask you...did you almost trip into me or something? Cuz I remember seeing your camera flash and then you trying to regain balance or something.

bands were really good, metal woman were hot, that 1349 shirt was cool. club sux though, goes on my list with bb kings and paladium for clubs never to go too, way to expensive and the bouncers blow.
i knew some people that wouldnt go to the show or the place anymore before this because of the douches that work there. not a metal place
The Nachtmystium merch guy rolled up the shirt Reanna bought and taped it...she wanted to put it on, so she took the tape off and placed it on my forehead for lack of a better place to put it.
She ripped it off halfway through Nachtmystium's set, though...and that made me a sad panda. :(
last night wasn't so bad.only one person i know got kicked out.i agree there was a surprising number of hot chicks out.goatwhore was so much awesome my neck was completely stiff for 1349.they should allow you to bring your drink into the fake strip club next door.it was kinda creepy how a cop had someone pulled over every 200 ft on the drive home till the state line.i hope no one else got a dui or booted from the show?
The 1349 tour shirt I bought does not say 1349 anywere on it. Now that's Kvlt.
I thought that one had blocks in the shape of 1349 on the back.
Nope. It has a map of the U.S. with upside down crosses marking each tour stop and the dates and venues. On the front is an upside down cross made up of Celtic knotting with the symbol from the cover of liberation on it.

I would rather drive to NY or something than give this place my money. And bitching is 75% of every forum, and the bitching about this place is beyond validated.
Ask all the people who've been thrown out for head banging, or the touring bands that get shafted playing after locals (no offense to the locals). I had to stop a bouncer from going after my brother in law for jokingly picking me up last time I was there. I was fucking laughing, there was no way to construe that as hostile actions requiring security interference. This is after they held me up at the door for half and hour because there's a small crack in my ID, and the same night those faggots called the pigs on some kid because they thought he was drunk. Kid ended up getting fucking arrested, car searched, etc. It's ridiculous.
Booking good bands doesn't clear you of being a fucking terrible establishment that abuses its patrons. If this place wasn't snatching the good tours, somewhere else would...so it's not like they're creating these tours, they're just the place that lands a few of them. You can't credit Mark's because 1349 played there. The gaylladium sucks, but at least there you can breathe without asking the security guards first. If all that doesn't give someone a reason to air grievances about a place they pay to enter, then I have no idea what does.
post by anonymous at Apr 1,2007 1:33pm
nothing is perfect. If a band is good enough i will be there no matter what shit hole they are playing.
I wanted to crack that bouncer's skull! Keith I believe his name was?
I'm not gonna explain why I got kicked out but, lets just say it was very much non-hostile in nature. I even kept my cool after I got the boot. Which is usually not like me. Anyways, I was eventually let back in.
Oh well, no more Marks for me.
I never thought I'd still be dealing with this bullshit at shows well into my adulthood. WTF?!
.....Other than that cluster fuck! Good show, good crowd!
I'd say the highlights of the night (for me anyways) were Averse Sefira, 1349, Nachtmystium and CNV but, the other bands seemed pretty good even though I was unfamiliar with them.
BTW, maybe I was just really drunk, but did anyone notice that kid in Mortis Deveia with the V rippin' it up?

Even though we had to go on first this one of the best sounding gigs we ever did...
The security is stiff but they have to be due to some shit that has gone down at the club before. There has been some shootings and stabbings. Small price to pay to see bands like 1349 and hot women everywhere.
and for the record, I, paul hamblet take the best god damn photos in all the world... Check this shit out

If you missed this gig your a straight up moron
1349 was easily one of the best black metal performances I have ever seen
people are going to bitch until the bands are playing in their livingroom... then they will bitch about the mess and people being disrespectful.
troll: henry shreds wicked hard. I'm surprised you noticed around trying to take pictures of me the entire night.
I hope your not directing that at me man? C'mon? I've got every right to complain.
Thats great that Marks is getting these awesome acts but, it all comes down to whether or not I (the constumer) want to pay someone to turn around usher me out the door. It's just not very punk rock.
.....And yea, taking pictures of you was pretty entertaining dude. You were like a dear in headlights. Its was almost like documenting an african bushman in is natural habitat or something. ;-)
BTW Rev, can I really make that face? Holy shhhhit that sucks!
Just noticed this!
The one picture where I'm actually not trying to fuck with the Rev! I swear I had no clue you were sitting there back there man!
Anyways, kinda funny.
