New site? Maybe some day.

Pain of Salvation's new album "Scarsick" is all done, and scheduled for release 01/30/07. According to Daniel Gildenlow, (faggot), it's more of a band effort, and much heavier than it's predecessor "BE".
I found two tracks on some myspace page:

It does sound heavier. That's until Daniel Gildenlow (faggot) starts rapping. Really bad rapping.
The new album is a concept album, as usual. Rumor is that there is ANOTHER POS album in the works to be released later this year, which is likely to be the long awaited sequel to "The Perfect Element pt. I"
Hopefully, it will contain no rapping.

BE was an amazing album
He's always rapped in songs, and its gay |
|
BE was amazing, but it certainly wasn't very heavy.
Personally, I prefer the live recording that came with the DVD over the studio album of BE. I think when they reproduced it in the studio, it lost a LOT of it's edge. |
|
and as awesome as the stuff on BE was, the new song "america" is proof that it's high time someone takes daniel gildenlow (faggot) has his mandolin taken away from him. |
|
Yeah, they're swedish. The new album is a concept album pretty much bashing america and capitalism.
The song is on that myspace I linked.

are you guys joking? BE is one of the most disappointing pieces of pretentious shit i've ever heard. i love all of pain of salvation's earlier releases, but the live album 12:5 sucked and BE was worse. to follow up remedy lane with that garbage was a dumb idea. |
|
BE was an abstract album. It's more meant to be a story presented through music than music with conceptual lyrics. |

Not really garbage. Be is the first album that daniel decided to take a chance and stray from the bands sound, which was pretty uniform up until then. While some songs benefit from it, and stand out very well (imago, iter impius) some of it takes a risk and strays a bit further than I or most fans are willing to go (nauticus, with it's horrible hymnal singing).
Be is a good album, and is the first concept album they've done that cohesively combined the lyrical themes with musical motifs, and managed to keep bringing these motifs up repeatedly without them sounded tired or boring.
Again, however, sometimes they went too far out and theres spots on the album that just bombed completely, like dae pecuniae. |
|
if they didn't have those samples in dae pecuniae it would of been a lot better. the mid section of that song is great |
|
I have to clarify my first post. I'm still up in the air about the new album. Musically it IS much heavier, from what I've heard. I'm just sketched out by the long rap part in scarsick, and the blugrass singalong in "america" isn't really growing on me any. |
|
the part in BE about the car makes it the worst album ever made. |

i just found out about these guys. whats a good album to pick up from them? |
|
any of the first 4. my ranking of them: 1. remedy lane 2. the perfect element 3. entropia 4. one hour by the concrete lake. BE sucks and what i've heard from scarsick is disappointing. also, don't get 12:5 (their live album). they mostly butcher all their good songs. |
