So Alice in Chains played fantastic set at Lupos last night. The rocked for nearly 3 hours including a full acoustic set and 6+ song encore. Fantastic show. Anyone else attend?

Jerry Cantrell =

toggletoggle post by yummy at Nov 1,2006 1:50pm

toggletoggle post by brad weymouth at Nov 1,2006 2:46pm

fuck you Sean! hahaha

It's not the rest of Alice In Chains' fault that ONE of the members threw his life away on drugs.

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Nov 1,2006 3:58pm
Whatever the fuck you call it - it was fucking awesome and I would have paid double the ticket price if necessary.

thank you at least someone understands what im saying.

it doesnt matter to me if jerry wrote all their songs which isnt true stanley had his share. but HE was the voice of that band and no matter how they get to replace him it makes them a cover band.

it'd be like seeing the doors without jim morrison, it'd be a cover band cause no matter how much you like the music their singer made the music work.

interweb hearts for you Tony haha

toggletoggle post by FuckIsMySignature at Nov 1,2006 4:08pm
Point taken - so say that Layne was still alive and still fucked up on Heroin so the band fired him or he quit. Then the band got a new singer and continued anyways for the sake of the fans and the music... still a cover band?

toggletoggle post by whiskey_weed_and_women  at Nov 1,2006 4:09pm
yup cause theyd suck just like every other band that did that.

i mean c'mon VAN HALEN people Hello !!!!!!

Oh, agreed, totally. But there's no denying the success they continued to have after Bon died and they brought on Brian.

no but iron maiden themselves are a cover band with all the line up changes theyve had.

the only band to change their singer and get better was Napalm Death

Black Sabbath only need the first 8 records. Pink Floyd without Syd Barrett got better. i know nothing of getting better without Roger Waters.

I like the Dio Sabbath records. I just don't think about the Ozzy records when I listen to them, they're so different it ruins it to compare them.

...what about Cannibal Corpse? yeah, Barnes was the shit back in the day, but imagine if he was still in CC, with his new shitty vocals.

toggletoggle post by aterribleguitarist  at Nov 1,2006 4:43pm
so who did sing for AIC anyway???? Did he try to sound like layne, or did he just do his own thing?

Cannibal Corpse, ha there is no Cannibal Corpse after the Bleeding. however that new band running around with the same has put out some good records.

no it isn't, just look at your distro sometime

toggletoggle post by Kevord  at Nov 1,2006 8:29pm
Everyone's missing the point that they are a cover band cause they have no albums withought Layne.

I do get your point. Although, I disagree. Now if Nirvana got back together with another singer then I would say okay, cover band. I didn't go, but regardless of who is singing, I still like their songs and it would have been cool to hear them anyways, it seems like the next closest thing to getting the real thing. A point to be made tho; if I went and thought the singer was horrible and made the overall performance of the band suck, I would have hoped I could just remember them for what they were.

I didnt hear one negative comment about the new singer after the show and seemed like there were ALOT of diehard fans there. Coverband or not William Duvall was a good investment by the band and i think he was very respectful of the legacy Layne left behind. I never got the chance to see AIC with Layne so I cant really compare but I must say that it looked like every one at this sold out show was enthusiastic about the performance judging by the immense crowd interaction. Isnt that all that matters?
