I just got their new CD from pluto records. I dug it so I decided to show up here. there aren't many people at all.

but I did get a copy of the drifter's comp that has one of my pictures on it.

xanonymousx isn't here.

I'm going to admit that some of the best shows that I've seen were at drifter's. this show seems severly underattended, but still, ggood bands, positive attitudes.

The Serenade Surrender: I swear I've seen these guys before. I know that of the betrayed played with them back in july here. They had some really good parts and some nice hash vocals, but there were some slower parts that I'm guessing they are hashing through. They sounded a bit roug still. The singer/guitarist said they are working on a full length. I'm sure the rough parts will be worked out on the CD. Anyhow, let's talk about me! I really rocked my Kodak SLR/n at the end of their set. That camera s my newest camera, constantly amazes, frustrates, and disapoints me. Here, under drifter's digital camera friendly lights looked like it kicked ass. Will find out later, but on the back of the camera they looked killer.

drifters is shutting down cause the rent is ginormous and I think the building got sold. christian may be a freak and all some times, but he packs in the kids here and puts on a lot of great shows. not to defend him too much, but how many eclipse shows did mr. todd go to?

only blood will tell: I thin they took and then there were none's spot. I don't know why I've heard a lot of haters of this band. I think I saw them before (brains a wee fuzzy today). Anyhow, they were pretty standard mosh music. A few more kids showed up and there were a few one-on-one mosh pits. So I'm wondering if in the 40's if people listened to big band 78s and critiqued them like everyone does every band now-a-days. That would have been interesting.
"the mootly jut band sold out"
"yeah man, they are just rehashing the mizpah orchestra."
"nifty noodle poodle!"

a well thought tragedy: they were pretty tight and were up here from philli. They claimed that their were no places like drifters in philli, no places like this for music. I find that hard to believe. A lot more kids moved around seems it was cause the band had a lot more energy up on stage.

with blood comes cleansing: they did a prayer circle thing before their set, hoods were optional, hats were forbidden. It was sort of job for a cowboy meets as I lay dying. A lot of the audience knew their songs. Weird. Some people trolled myspace before the show. The singer had great vocals. It sounded like 2 people were singing at parts but it was all just him. They also had 3 fuitarists, but most of the time 2 of the guitarists were playing thw same thing.

imperial: they had 2 singers. I didn't know that from the CD. The CD is pretty damn good. I would have loved ro have caught more, bur I really had to go to the bathroom. And the 3 bathrooms were all occupied for over 15 minutes before I decided to speint out for a gas station.

i'm sure Christian thought he was working hard to make sure people had a good time, but excluding bands for having swear words in their songs, kicking people out for moshing a way he didnt like, no re-entry, as well as charging 10 bucks per show no matter what when the show is comprised pretty much of 15 y/o old kids who wish they were as i lay dying and a couple of solid locals...is a pretty good way to keep patrons and bands alike from wanting to be/play there

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Oct 30,2006 10:14am
christian's last name is skinner? that's funny.

there is a few things that i don't understand why drifters is ran the way it is... personally i think that the no re-entry is stupid but i can sort of see why it is done....

the excluding bands for having swear words in the songs is also done but they are probably thinking that it is a positive place where parents feel their kids will be safe and swearing isn't safe... regardless that is probably the most rediculous rule, but plenty of bands have played there with having swear words in their songs they just changed or excluded them when they wrote the lyrics i know cause i helped a band that played there change their words

and the moshing i could see why he didn't like that cause there is people that do stupid shit like crowd punch and that leads to a fight and thats the last thing they would want a at place like that, i'm sure they didn't want to deal with the cops.

the $10 to go see a show is also quite expensive for a show featuring as i lay dying jr and underoath jr but i think the reason they do it that way is not to judge any of the bands that play... also i think it is nice when they have a decent tour play there and the price was only $10 when the night before it was $15 or $20 at the palladium.

not to defend drifters but this is my "two cents"
