Or do they just look like it??
Seriously, lose the fucking 1980's looking, bubbly, rounded horns, for christ sake.
And put a fucking floyd in the PRS rip off's, you cunts.

How could you possibly not like Carvins?

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Sep 5,2006 10:25pm
Look at em man.....jeez louise.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Sep 5,2006 10:26pm
Ive always liked their craftsmanship, and theyve always been solid guitars, but theyve also always been ugly, and now, theyre just as ugly, but more expensive.

I like those bridges better than the floyds. Then again, this is coming from a guy that loves fixed bridges.

Some of the custom carvin stuff looks great. All of the carvin stuff is definately an awesome sound and value for the price. I'm a little sketchy of the amps, speakers, etc..., but the bass heads are pretty clean and classy sounding.

Ya, they are definitely a class act.
Im talking specifically about their electric guitar bodies.

toggletoggle post by i_am_not_a_carvin_owner at Sep 5,2006 10:50pm
They jumped up in price? Damn. They were a bargain, I wish I had bought one at some point.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Sep 5,2006 10:53pm
well...I mean the PRS copy model is $1479...not much cheaper than a real prs, so whats the point.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Sep 5,2006 10:54pm
even the non trem/maple neckthru, alder body is $930!!!
Insane.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Sep 5,2006 10:55pm
Oh Im sorry, that is with a floyd....the non floyd is $829
LOL.

i have no problem with the carvin shapes, they all look classy as hell to me.

most of their amps are great, and the build quality will beat almost anything in the price range. the only thing i dont like about their stuff is their pickups.

you must not see a lot of PRS'. 90% of them are over $2100, and will laugh in your face if youd ever ask for a floyd or a wilkinson trem. and custom options? want to spend another 6-7 grand?

anyway, carvin puts necks on their guitars that arent baseball bats, unlike PRS.

I 'see' plenty of PRS.
Im not a fan either.
Being so expensive is exactly the reason Carvin's knock off job, shouldnt be.
Also, you think theyre classy looking, why is it that you dont own/play one?

Ok,

$1480-carvin
$1899- Prs custom 22

$420 less= not that much.

I won't pay more than a thousand dollars for a guitar, thats why. and 9 times out of ten i buy used. carvins dont come used.

archtop semi-hollowbodies are classy looking, but i dont own or play one.

i dont think you get that you're paying 400 less for a CUSTOM guitar. CUSTOM. as in your own options, color, hardware etc. a custom PRS will run you about 6-10,000 dollars.

toggletoggle post by niccolai   at Sep 6,2006 8:21am
...and play similar to a BCrich Bronze warlock... which will run you about 80-90 dollars.

The PRS custom 22 is not a custom guitar.

Besides, with ESP or Ibanez you can look forward to spending 3 grand+ on a custom guitar with Carvin's options and the carvin will have arguably better woods.

and I don't think they are 'that bad' looking. They look better than most other classy looking axes (PRS, Gibson, ect)

My main guitar is a 1989 Carvin DC125. I got it for $250 shipped with a hardshell case. For a USA made neckthru (it's got a Duncan Custom Custom to boot), that about the best deal imaginable.

I do not stand by Carvin's amps though. they are nothing but crap and I've had only bad experences with the 3 carvin amps I've owned. their customer service sucked too.

I hven't had a problem with the MTS, personally.
