i might have to go to this on the slim chance that they will do 3 or more sepultura songs

toggletoggle post by mcmahon  at Aug 25,2006 12:08pm
I'll probably go. Last time i saw them they had Marc Rizzo formerly of Ill Nino. His solo stuff is way better than anything he did prior. Though, I still don't get the empty backpack thing.

yeah! well roots had some cool stuff, like the riff mid song on "roots" and i liked track 3 or 4, not sure i haven't listened to them since that album was released. i'd love to hear BTR or chaos ad right now!!!!

War For Teritory!!!!

You people should listen to the new album Dark Ages, if you liked Chaos A.D., you're gonna like this one. You're right music before Dark Ages Sucked a little bit but that has changed now.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Sep 5,2006 5:44pm
Will they play song Toxicity? Or am I getting my hopes up and thinking of the wrong terrible band.

I'm going to be there photographying. I just really really really hope that mrs. cavalera doesn't act like she did at the last show.. sheesh..

toggletoggle post by SacreligionNLI at Sep 27,2006 2:39pm
i must've missed something involving that story

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 27,2006 2:44pm
his wife had security stop be 3 times from photographing during a show. each time they would apologize and pull me in the back to show her my gear. you could tell the staff at the palladium knew what I was doing and they felt bad. she saw the "red light" from my camera and kept thinking that I was video taping the show. because of that, i didn't shoot her son on stage.

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Sep 28,2006 10:56am
tonight doors at 530 18+ music starts around 6pm.. soulfly goes on early around 10pm

toggletoggle post by SteveOTB   at Sep 28,2006 11:06am
This is gonna be a big show but seriously they need to stop putting over 5 bands a show. Seriously the Six Feet Under show is out of hand with 10 bands playing.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 28,2006 11:08am
so the line up is:
SOULFLY
Full Blown Chaos
Scars of Tomorrow
Incite
Breathe
Heretic Hybrid

toggletoggle post by SteveOTB   at Sep 28,2006 11:21am
I would think this show will be pretty weird with the crowd because there's pool tables, polls, and a bar in the way really.

If this was true I'd be very pissed off if I was one of the bands playing because it's not even sharing a stage with Soulfly really, more like sharing a venue.

are you suggesting the locals are puppets? haha.

I bet they'll have the locals play in the strip club part, similar to the dope show when the strippers went on strike... a damn shame. They'd be smart to stagger set times too.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 28,2006 12:01pm
hm.. I'm hoping a certain awesome photographer doesn't get screwed. this would be the second show of heretic hybrid's that I missed. the guys from FBC would do anything for me if there were an issue, I'm sure.

second face: they were a nu-metal band. It's funny that they sounded a lot like most nu-metal bands. But most of those nu-metal bands no long sound like what these guys were trying to do. They had plenty of their friends up front for them cheering along to the sicest of the sic songs. The drummer was doing something weird with one of his sticks... holding it up in the air over his head over and over again. Weird. I hope I caught it cause it looked a long weirder that my description. does slipknot do that? I'm sure that if there was moshing here, all the makeup in the crowd (and on stage) would have been messed up and many bottle of water would have been sprayed into the crowd.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 28,2006 7:44pm
Heretic Hybrid : they got stuck in traffic and could therefore not play. Sux.

breathe: another numetal band. The singer went down into the crowd and drank some dude in the front's beer. the dude seemed cool with it and gave the singer the thumbs up. Actually, the singer went in the crowd quite a bit. 1/2 their songs sounded like that "superbad" or "superfly" or "superfine" whatever song that is. there rest was sort of what if pantera was a mondern day hardcore/metalcore band. lots of breakdowns, deeper vocals. The singer sort of reminded me of remembering never. Then they would switch back into jump the fuck up music *snap* just like that. Funny how their entire presence on stage change instantly too. They seemed a lot more comfy with the numetal songs. they had a lot of guys there from "toughtown".. I'm just not sure where that is. People from toughtown dance like monkey rappers. Anderson read that and agreed with me.

toggletoggle post by Kevord  at Sep 28,2006 7:56pm
Numetal bands opening for Soulfly. Shocking!!!!!

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 28,2006 8:36pm
yeah, I forget what soulffly sounds like until I see the bands opening for them.

incite: ok, I finally got the scoop. They are a local band from AZ. It's max's step-son. The reason that I could find any info on them is that they are locals and don't have anything yet. I had to search online, but I found out the singer is his step son, Richie. I thought they were going to be just another nu-metal band, but they weren't. It was actually pretty decent metalcore. Richie had only one line to say... "ok motherfuckers " which he brought out for every song.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 28,2006 9:12pm
scars of tomorrow: they played newer songs. At the beginning. They were awefully nu-metal sounding. I thought maybe the sound guy just had the PA set on "jump the fuck up". they played some older music and it sounded right. So I guess it just had to have a jump up and down feel to it. I remember back when these guys and Perfect murder where the 2 next greatest things on victory. Oh how both bands have changed. Unfortunantely, PM descended into a pantera and southern riffs. SOT has gone through a bunch of line up changes, but still played hardcore. The singers style came through really clearly on the PA here. Odd since usually vocals either don't work or are too loud here. At the end of the set, the singer shouted out RTTP as one of the good things in the area scene. I was completely taken aback by that. I don't think I've talked to the singer in 2+ years. very cool of him. Too bad jay/the underground scene got no love. Oh wait.. Jay abandoned us!

toggletoggle post by Kevord  at Sep 28,2006 9:15pm
If I was there as soon as Max yells "Jump the Fuck Up!" I would laugh hysterically. How do people take this stuff seriously.

Ive seen CSDO there 2x in 2006 and idk if there were 200 people there or not.Who really fucking cares. Its just sad that Marks cant draw a good crowd.I dont wanna see them close down like the Bombshelter,Club 125 and Jarrods Place.

toggletoggle post by whiskey_weed_and_women  at Sep 29,2006 12:10am
jarrods place sucked, only was at club 125 for that fest back last Nov. and yeah see my answer about the jarrods for my answer to the bombshelter.

and im just saying mr. csdo seems to care a lot about how many people are at their shows since he always comes on here and states how many he assumes was at the shows. why i find it funny when you say otherwise about the attendance at the club.

Hey,
I don't have a great deal of history with Soulfly but really wanted to see Max for the first time. Well.. anyone who is commenting on last night's show in the negative, simply was not there. There was nothing but heavy as fuck metal, akin to someone tearing a piece of sheet metal with their bare hands, kind of heavy. Short of a full-on review, they did a pretty fair mix of Sepultura and Soulfly. Max is like a metal Che Guevara, violent in philosophy/thought but monstrous and brilliant musically. Their sound was so raw but almost exotic.. BUT underneath it all lies an ancient and primitive 'exposed nerve' type of intensity.
Marc Rizzo shredded.
Joe Nunez was heavy and solid as hell on drums
re: Bass.... how FUCKING GREAT was it to have Danny Lilker on the gig? yeah, that Danny Lilker

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 29,2006 12:19pm
full blown chaos: these dudes are not only great guys, but they also are doing very very well for themselves. Awesome when the good guy's win. it was jeff's, drummer, birthday. They spontaneously went into a little bit of pantera's "walk" while the crowd sang happy birthday. The crowd was jumping up and down a lot... I though mark's show floor was going to mark's show down. Like I thought, this eventually started a small pit, but people just moved out of the way when security came to get them. I guess some people got tossed out, but I didn't see it. They retired to the strip club after playing wake the demons. I'm also fairly certain that buckhunter is now part of FBC.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Sep 29,2006 12:31pm
soulfly: the place packed in for them this is probably the best turn out at a mark's show I've seen yet. the number of people jumping up and down was x4 for soulfly. That mean the floor was bouncing up and down in a major way. I kept thinking of that wedding video where everyone gets sucked down into the void. I missed the major jumping (during jump the fuck up). I saw danny coming in and he had a band braclet on. I had no clue that he was in soulfly. That guy's in every band. Bernie got everything set for me to shoot, but I know there would be issues. After one song, some roady came up to me and brought me to his wife. She said "only one song" but wouldn't look me in the eyes.. I said "christina said 3 songs" she looked confused and told me to "just do it out there." but there wasn't really any way for me to get into the packed tight crowd so I listed to eye for and eye and left. That's the only song of soulfly I really like. Their set was a collage of songs. They started off with chaos ad/esacpe the void/refuse-resist medley with different word and sort of wondered all over the place. They paused before going into roots bloody roots. I went outside and caught some of the behind the scenes reality show that bernie has to deal with. There was a guy outside screaming "i just want to know why" and slowly removing his clothing. It was like one of those cops shows.

toggletoggle post by molten man at Sep 29,2006 12:52pm
yeah, that douchebag was yelling when I went in 20 mins before soulfly

toggletoggle post by Drained at Sep 29,2006 1:39pm
The guy from Incite, Ritchie or whatever his fucking name is, he's a fucking asshole, one time Soulfly was playing at the Avalon and my friend wanted to get an autograph from Max he stood there for fucking hours, he said hi to him & he gave him this fucking cold look, like you're a fucking piece of shit don't talk to me.
In a recent interview Max said he was gonna support his stepson, he said he has to pay his dues by sleeping in the van, what about the fact that piece of shit is opening for Soulfly? isnt that support? he knows he'd never do it on his own.
