Just so that both sides are heard....

Rox's The Rock House's Response.....
Body: We would like to take the time to respond to several messages left on myspace, concerning Rox's The Rock House, in Oxford.

The purpose for terminating Will Doomus Entertainment from booking shows at our club was a business decision only. It was nothing personal, as some are making it. Many of the the bands had come to us and expressed their concern, over the way Bill Dumas was treating them, claiming that he was acting that he was the bands manager, and he was not paying the bands, and treating the bands unprofessionally.

We understand that whatever the agreement that Bill worked out with each band, is your own personal agreement, such as... you had to bring a certain amount of people to get paid. Well thats fine and thats your perogative, but if thats the way you feel then you should not have complained to us about him. We thank Bill for being a part of the success at Rox's, but we did the booking on our own at Mulligans in Worcester, and we have no problem doing it again here at Rox's. We decided to give him an opportunity to assist us because we have worked with him before.

We were told of some SHADY things that Bill was doing with several bands, in cheating them out of hard earned payments. Taking your concern is our number one priority. We have dealt with it, and decided not to hire from outside, for booking purposes.

Bands state that we are taking 50% of the bands money at the door. A bar charges a cover charge for many reasons... such as paying off staff, sound, and the entertaiment. Entertaiment, being the bands, in this case we decided that the bands would get 50% off of each head they brought in, releasing the pressure that they had to bring over a certain amount of heads to get paid. To be upset about getting paid is fine, but what about the bands that travel God only knows how many miles, and can only bring a couple of people willing to travel 50 plus miles to see their favorite band? We feel they should get something, just like the bands that bring 5 ~ 10 or even 100 heads. Every band should get something and thats why we deciced to do HALF OF THE COVER, that way, costs are paid, bands are paid regardless, and your walking out with something instead of nothing.

It makes us wonder why Bill had to make such a big stink about being let go, we all have been let go from jobs before, but we never made it our personal mission to bash them and put their character in question! We never once said anything bad about Bill, once again we like him, but we had to respond to the overwhelming complaints from the bands regarding Bill. Its as simple as that, and if the bands feel they are being cheated by getting half the door, then we can go back to Bill Dumas's tactics by only paying the bands that draw over a certain amount of heads, at still 50% of the cover?

Lets think hard and long about it guys and girls!!! If you want to cancel out on shows at Rox's thats fine, we will fill the slots with bands that don't mind being paid regardless on how many heads they bring. We just brought back a band called Hollow Image that Bill did not want playing at Rox's because they cancelled a show with him, so what if they did, it was not done to harm the night; it was done because something came up. We all have things that come up, but should bands be punished for taking control over something personal in their own individual lives? HELL NO, so their back, and their back to stay. And this is the kind of treatment that the bands do not need.

Forget about the childish game playing, and if you want to play at Rox's then that great, if not thats fine too. Its your call.

Rox's will not respond to anymore childish messages left on our new site. We have bands to work with, and your ALL more then welcome to come here and play and have a good time, because thats what its all about.
