The majority of the Palladium shows are weak.The only have 1-2 good ones a year.

the DCU you just park in the mall lot.
at midnight, the gatekeepers go home and you can just drive out.

I'm in haverhill on 495 and just passed boobtoucher (aka: kev from the_network). I picked my nose at them and they drank heineken at me.
it was cool to see someone cause I was being lulled to sleep from the drive.

what! I posted a thank you in this thread. I guess it didn't post.

when I got here, there was no pass for me and the tour manager for mastodon (who has blank sign photopasses for me before) said there was nothing he could do for me. I ran around, got carina working on people to call. converge tried to get me a pass to, but they were told only mastodon could assign passes. I went back and told the tour manager that I shot a lot of the pictures on mastodon's site and have shot them like 10 times over the years. but he asked me for any proof I was who I was saying I was because I could just be selling these pictures on ebay. of course I didn't have a "im return to the pit" license.
by this point, I had run over to the irish times a bunch. scott lee told me to just go up and he would work out the pass with the tour manager. simultaneously, the people that run the palladium/mass concerts also got me a pass.
so thank you to all the staff (sylvia, gina, joy, and scott lee), to carina (while she was lost in boston none-the-less), and to jay (ex-cannae).

I got down for the last song of bronx and was told 2 songs, no flash. jason (ex-cannae and photographer for first action guitars) was down there to shoot to. when ever a band would come out to play he would get them to tell the bouncers to let him and I do whatever we wanted, flash.. multiple songs, etc.. that ruled.

How lame that u had to go through that..esp when yer even shooting it for the phx ...

Seems like with every passing year,the less amount of shows I see at the Palladium.Ive only been there once so far in 2006

Mastodon was great, but I kept getting distracted by the girl in the red hot pants. Rev, did you get any pictures of her?

Only negative of the entire night was listening to the bronx rip. they sound like motely crue covering suicide file.

this band just keeps getting better and better with age

Mastodon = untouchable
i don't think these guys have a fucking dull riff in their set. absolutely captivating.
Lamb Of God / Shadows Fall / Killswitch / Unearth, etc... NONE of them come close to touching the sublime majesty of Mastodon
the doomblunt i enjoyed prior to their set has little bearing on the above statements

and Hot Chocolate gave me jungle fever

converge's set was good, but there choice of songs was a little iffey. They didn't play anything prior to jane doe. Nothing from petitioning..., or when forever..., poarcher diaries, nothing at all. New stuff sounded awesome, they played way to many songs from you fail me. They didn't even fucking play the saddest day. i mean come on...

o yea and screw crowd barriers...

Mastodon was fucking awesome...too bad I couldn't catch all of their set. The girl you guys are refering to was with Brent, she seemed nice, can't remember her name though..I'm bad with names and was too busy drooling over his Gibson custom shop sliverburst V.

the bronx- pure suckage, same fucking riff in every song, couldnt wait until they over

converge-sounded great but the song choices were kinda weak..i was in the mood for petitioning stuff but they didnt even touch that album just jane doe type stuff. the barrier sucked ass

mastadon- at this point it seemed like i had only been there for like an hr. i kept wanting to leave during their set but then they would play an awesome riff and i would decide to stay...i finally left during the encore cause the song they were playing didnt seem too good......crowd was pretty nuts the entire set

bronx, the: like I said, I ran in, took a few pictures and then got told "no flash, first 2 songs" so I couldn't really shoot them.

converge: there are very few bands that make me giddy to see. converge is just one of those bands. they always rule, but have gotten tighter since 2004 when they lost the 2nd guitar player). each time they make a new CD, they get better and better. They played 3 new songs in a row and I think they played one more new track. I was playing mostly with a new camera during their set so I didn't get to totally engross myself in their set. the new songs were shorter and didn't build up at all. reminded me of the shorts songs off of you fail me or even jane doe. yeah, I like the earlier music better and they did focus on you fail me a lot. I don't realy care cause that album rules, but I would have loved to have heard some stuff off the first 2 full lengths.

mastodon: they started off with a sample about hotdogs or something as the crowd chanted for mastodon to come on. this band, like I said, is the 'underground" band that everyone thought was their own little secret back a few years ago. nowm they are HUGE. they had an impressive set list from all their albums. tons of songs listed on it. I've heard tracks from the new CD and now I've heard them live. I must say that the tracks on the new CD have weird vocals. it's like they took the thin lizzy thing and ran with it. the vocals are a bit weird. besides that, there were people crowd surfing during their set. I'm wondering it cream did a tour, would there be crowd surfers? in this day and age, probably.

Im going to two more shows at the Palladium this year.Celtic Frost and Suffocation.Its real lame that I have to pay $25 just to see Suffocation play for a half hour.I dont care for the other bands on that bill
