Hearing ihsahn's voice on the album's, I never realized how sick and powerful it is. Seeing him play live while singing is an experience intensely different than hearing them on cd. i was absolutely astounded by his vocals.
guitar was a little low in the mix, and the whole thing could have been louder, but that's just silly nitpicking, because this show was fucking awesome. |

It was a great show despite the traffic we hit that forced us to miss more than half of their set!

awesome show!
they were spoy on,( for one guitarist of course) and played a varied list os songs from every album. a bit low for sure but a very controlled, awesome live mix overall. daylight dies was awesome too!

This was crazy. Did anybody else catch how Ihsahn did the CD intro to "Curse You All Men"? I always thought that was some kind of sound manipulation...not, you know...his throat. Amazing. |

this show was so fucking good. There was a lot of people video taping so I am sure there will be better video on youtube shortly.
for the encore Ihsahn had spike shoulder pads...fucking brutal. |

This was indeed a great show. The only times I really even noticed Samoth wasn't there was during the more proggy noodly parts of the newer songs, but they did a fucking stellar job of making it work with just Ihsahn. My only other complaint was while Ihsahn's voice was amazing as always, the keyboardist (Was it Grimloch? I couldn't see him cleary) couldn't harmonize with him at all for the clean stuff and it came off sounding really awkward, especially on the IX Equilibrium tracks.
All in all, huge A+ for the show. So good! |

I agree the keyboardist wasnt on point 100% of the time with the harmonies...but with a man down they still killed that place. The mix of the keyboards with the guitars overall was real up and down as well.
Daylight dies was awesome. I could not figure out how that first band got on this show, I wanted someone to hang them...You know a band is bad when kids in the crowd yell,''Play a cover song!''. |

Starkweather has been around for a while and somehow wound up on Candlelight for their latest album (which is why they were on the bill). I used to see and enjoy them in high school in the mid/early 90's, but time has not been kind to them at all. Putting a metalcore band on that bill was a colossal mistake anyway. |

Ihsahn gave the most powerful vocal performance I have ever seen. As soon as he opened his mouth opened to "AS DARKNESS CREEPS OVER A NORTHERN MOUNTAIN OF NORWAY" (with the fucking thunder clap sample !yes!) I was floored.

one of the best shows I've ever been to. It sounded so tight and perfect that I had a hard time believing it was live. I guess they played for over an hour and a half, but it felt like ten minutes...I would have gladly paid to go both days if I knew it was going to be that good. |

I agree with Joey(ATerribleGuitarist) about everything. I went to the Thursday show and we tried to get tickets to Friday afterwards but of course it was sold out. We would have happily paid another 65 bucks and hopped on a bus after the show to see them again. So fucking amazing!!! |
