Here are a couple of songs that I think would be killer covers if done right:

Kim Wilde - Kids in America
The Temptations - Ball of Confusion (anthrax did it but not very good)

anyone else got some suggestions? Curious to see what appears

Origin should cover Fallout Boy.

with Exploding Christ we're gonna (at some point) cover "Mongoloid" by Devo

other than that, I've always wanted to "metal-ize" Funky Town

Viking covered it pretty well.

losing my religion
straight outta compton

I still need to make a grindcore showtune cover band for songs like tomorrow, the goodship lollipop and somewhere over the rainbow.

toggletoggle post by pam   at Jun 17,2006 2:01pm
rebel yell has been done.

I've always wanted to cover Pat Benetar, but if it didn't come out AMAZING I would feel like I let down 8-year-old me who used to pretend I WAS Pat Benetar.

I think that Evergrey would do a killer cover of "Soul Asylum" by The Cult.

i always though that any depeche mode song would make a great metal cover.

Katatonia would KILL with that.

WAIT! Someone has done Depeche Mode, I forgot, this band Beyond Surface covered Never Let Me Down and did a great job. It's a great album all together if you like that stuff.

in flames did a depeche mode song a LONG time ago as well.

toggletoggle post by pam   at Jun 17,2006 2:09pm
I want In Flames to die in a gasfire.

toggletoggle post by pam   at Jun 17,2006 2:10pm
it would be both ironic, and satisfying.

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Jun 17,2006 2:10pm
I want to go back in time and murder the members of In Flames when they were children, so every band from New Bedford wouldn't be so fucking weak and gay.

toggletoggle post by Blue  at Jun 17,2006 2:14pm
LOL

Extinction Agenda should cover the Goodnight flight.

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Jun 17,2006 2:27pm
They should cover them with tar and feathers.

toggletoggle post by pam   at Jun 17,2006 2:29pm
I was just listening to Extintion Agenda's demo, so good.

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Jun 17,2006 2:32pm
Eternal suffering did a cover of eye of the tiger soooooo. bad ass

toggletoggle post by pam   at Jun 17,2006 2:33pm
I heard another band do that and it was fucking awesome. I wish I could remember who...it was on Myspace.

toggletoggle post by ShadowSD at Jun 17,2006 2:33pm
I think Rebel Yell and Hell is For Children are kind of cheating, because those were metal songs to begin with (musically speaking).

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Jun 17,2006 3:11pm
my band is unveiling a non-metal cover on july 7th.

toggletoggle post by contagion   at Jun 17,2006 3:48pm

without a doubt:
Two Tribes by Frankie Goes To Hollywood

It would be brutal and no one would expect it

I've always wanted to hear a black metal version of Tupelo by Nick Cavwe and the Bad seeds.

On the same tip, 'Stagger Lee' would sound badass done heavy.

We can't decide either. Right now we're going back and forth between Fire in Cairo or Jumpin' Someone Else's train. But we seem to find a new song that we would want to cover everyother week.

A cover of "It's Raining Men" by Judas Priest.

I'm glad that someone else knows about lawnmower deth! I loved that shit when I was in highschool. the Live version is awesome (on oh crickey). the non-live sucks (on the CD billy).

The Pain cover? Not so good.

toggletoggle post by VoidExpression  at Jun 18,2006 9:33am
Any Slowdive or MBV song would be killer. I know The Gathering did "When the Sun Hits", but their "metalness" is questionable.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Jun 18,2006 9:34am
Slowdive is pretty rad.

Yeah, The Gathering went off the art rock rocker a long time ago.

Clitorture used to cover "Rockin' In The Free World" by Neil Young at practices. never did it live though. always thought "Carry On Wayward Son" by Kansas could be really heavy too. love that tune.

toggletoggle post by the rooster at Jun 18,2006 9:51am
how about Crowbar doing "Dream Weaver". what a low point in their career. i don't know if that was supposed to be funny or what, but it pissed me off more than anything. that whole album kinda sucks anyways.

I like some songs on Clayman, particularly "Swim" which is one of my favorite N*FLAYMZ songs.

After that record, though, bollocks.

The live version kicks ass. I even like the studio version as well, even though that cd as a whole blows. Lawnmower Deth is one of those hidden gems.
