http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqsww/Quakes/quakes_all.php

it started with two earthquakes around 6.2 thursday morning within a half hour of each other...there's been pretty much nonstop aftershocks ever since

look at the comparison from 6/9-6/13 and everything after that

That does suck

I know Asia wants its Alaskan landbridge back, but I think this is going a little too far.

toggletoggle post by sacreligion at Jun 16,2006 9:07am
i wish i was a geologist so i could tell if that's normal or not

24+ hours of constant aftershocks?

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Jun 16,2006 9:09am
it can be normal in some areas. sometimes the plates shift slowly over long periods of time. basically it's just one long-drawn quake, over a period of smaller ones, and the majority of these quakes in Alaska are tiny.

still sucks though.

i just thought it was funny...random quake here, random quake there...BAM! earthquakes every 10 minutes

earth shouldn't have gone to the solar systems annual fajita fest wednesday

Is there anyway a poster could spice up this thread by blaming these quakes on Bush or pussy liberals? Conflict sells banner ads people.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Jun 16,2006 11:07am
hey, I tried to blame the Asians...

MAP 3.4 2006/06/15 14:44:04 51.931 -171.037 1.0 FOX ISLANDS, ALEUTIAN ISLANDS, ALASKA

The Fox Islands, that's where Shadow Moses Island is located! And Shadow Moses Island is the location of a nuclear disposal site but in reality is the government's secret base where they're constructing Metal Gear Rex and training the Genome Army. These earthquakes indicate that Metal Gear Rex might be active, what we need now is a one man army to take matters into his own hands. A battle hardened man, unafraid to kill thousands of men, but tender enough to...love.

toggletoggle post by sacreligion at Jun 16,2006 12:15pm

How's the weather in general? I'll be there ("there" being general Anchorage area) next weekend.

toggletoggle post by Burnsy at Apr 24,2012 11:24am
It's pretty nice. 30-35 once the sun finally goes down at about 10. In the low to mid 50s during the day. Really fucking nice.

Mostly, yeah. If all goes according to plan, we'll be out towards Wrangell-St. Elias for a couple days, and then hopefully doing hikes at Kenai Fjords and Denali later in the week. There'll be a few days where we're just bumming around the city.

toggletoggle post by Burnsy at Apr 24,2012 12:51pm
Nice. Yeah I'll probably be staying the weekend and heading home Wednesday. I found a basement black metal show to hit up Monday haha.

the fjords around seward are amazing. spent a week in montana creek fly fishing last august and you could see denali from 150 miles away down there.
