I've never ever seen ministry and I'm wicked excited to see/shoot them. I know that some people don't like all the latter day bush bashing and stuff, but man.. this band has been a constant favorite for this little reverend.
also, revolting cocks are playing. when I was a little kid, I asked my dad to get me a revco CD and he was like "IM NOT BUYING YOU A CD CALLED REVOLTING COCKS" it was under the tree for me that year. I think he was proud cause there were boobs on the cover and that made him think I wasn't gay.

I saw Ministry a few times back in the nineties... easily some of the best shows I've been to have been Ministry shows.

pitbull daycare is in a few.
revco @ 8:50
ministry probably @ 10 and they get 2hrs. who thinks I'll be here for all 2 hrs?

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 16,2006 8:50pm
damnit! anthony got me. I need to fix that.

pitbull daycare: watching them I remembered how nu-metal has taken a lot of the rivet-head culture hostage. I'm sure if you lined up a bunch of nu-metalers and rivet heads, I would be damned to tell the difference. the front row was very very young. I would venture most of the people there had parents who were into ministry. Anyhow, they sounded a bit like sheep on drugs, but also a little like PIL. Every now and again, there was a bass drop that was really really painful. The singer kept slapping himself in the forehead over and over again. not sure what he was trying to do there... maybe slick back his hair? They also covered the ace of spades this ended their set.

Pitbull Daycare sucks.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 16,2006 9:11pm
I didn't really like the CD I got 7 years ago. someone commented "you think they've gotten any better?"
hah!

revco is on now. holy shit balls this is good. you don't even know.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 16,2006 10:16pm
ministry should be on any minute.
I would work on and finish my revco reviewco, but it's so long that it would take 1/2 of ministries set to do.

Yes, Pit Bull Gay Care Sucked, very painful to watch and listen to. Rev Co. stole the show, a very fun set. I was a little dissapointed in Ministry's sound, I know, I know A bad sound at the Palladium. It's so unusual. I couldn't really hear the drums, it wasn't a very good mix, it was all guitar. Was it worth the $35.00 I paid? Probably not.

you want real industrial listen to stuff like wumpscut, hocico, funker vogt
suicide commando, and unter null

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 17,2006 11:19am
there would be no :wumpscut: with out second wave bands like ministry.
funker vogt is now newer wave synth pop. I like :w:, funker vogt, and suicide commando, don't get me wrong but ministry came a long time before them.

Thieves

Thieves, thieves and liars, murderers
Hypocrites and bastards and lechers
"Get up! Get up, get on your feet!"
Hey, thanks for nothing
Morals in the dust
Two-faced intellectual cripples
No trust
"We are all fighting for a new race of man
Not the race of these pigs
And their racist society"

Take off!
Thieves! Liars! [x6]
Inside, outside, which side we don't know
My side, your side, their side, we don't know
Who started it? Who started it?
Who started abandoning abolishing hate?
Who started it? Who started it?
Who started affecting freedom?
Inside, outside, which side we don't know
My side, your side, their side, we don't know
You're like a great big fucking cock
Just waiting to get squeezed
"We're gonna rip this mother fucker off
We're gonna tear this mother fucker down"

"Get up! Get up, get on your feet!"
Breathe! Forfeit erection!
Toxic our injection
Geriatric fuck-fest
With a scintillating lie
"I hope they realize this is their last goddamn chance!"
"Kill him!" "Kill, kill, kill ..."
Take off!

Thieves! Liars! [x4]
Inside, outside, which side we don't know
My side, your side, their side, we don't know
Who started it? Who started it?
Who started the fight between color and hate?
Who started it? Who started it?
Who started affecting freedom?
Inside, outside, which side we don't know
My side, your side, their side, don't wanna know
You're like a really big hit of acid just waiting to be taken
"Power to the people!" "Sieg heil!"
"Power to the people!" "Police officer!"
"Kill, kill, kill ..." "You will not kill!"
"I like peace, you want peace"
"I can't hear you, I still can't hear you!"

revolting cocks: this was such a great set. They furiously switched up singers for the entire beginning part of their set. The first singer (some guy name peter from texas who I’m not familiar with) came out and grabbed the megaphone and started off "beers steers and queers". When this ended he announced luc van aker. Luc came out and sang a song through the megaphone. At the end of that song, he announced the 3rd singer, some guy in a suit came out to grab the megaphone. He ended up being the main singer for the rest of the set. From other pictures I’ve seen, the suit was part of a “hilter” look. By this show the ‘stache was gone. they covered a bauhaus song, dark entries, remixed into a song called caliente. Then played a track that I will assume was called fire engine cause they kept repeating that over and over. The singer in the suit told a story about what happens to a man and a woman on their wedding night, going in depth into penis and vagina stuff.. But then said "I say 'why wait until mmarriage? Come on everyone, let's get physical'" breaking into a version of let's get physical. Next, they went into do you think I'm sexy, inviting about 15-20 girls who had been pulled out of the audience. They danced around on stage with luc in a giant penis outfit.
Everyone but luc left the stage and they he started screaming "revolting cocks" along to "we will rock you". When the singer who was in a suit came out, he was in a dress. The song ended up being a cover-type-thing of purple haze.
Then some Whitney Houston song after a long speech by that singer. This sort of distracted security enough so luc van acker could climb to the top of one of the speakers and stand wearing a hitler mask. He stayed standing up there well into the lights going out and the stage hand started moving things. I should have gone upstairs and taken pictures.

ministry: here's a little ministry watching trick: it you are only listening with earplugs (or no plugs) then you are missing half the show. a lot of the riffs that are flooded all through the songs are hi-end (as well at the flanged vocals). To hear these, push your finger into you ears. All that lo end will cut out and you will be able to hear the hi end.
After the first hour, I only knew 2 songs, war (filth pig) and NWA. Jorgensen had a tech deliver a guitar and the bolted off into just one fix. Shedding the guitar into thieves. During this song, a kid came over the barricade. As the security guard was leading him off stage, he bolted and got on stage where the bassist corralled him and security hopped up and tossed him out.
khyber press (new CD) kind of slowed it down a little. as the song ended, members slowly left the stage. Starting with unkle al "GOOD NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHHHHHT"
quickly, the stage hands ran out to prep the stage for the encore(s). A mic stand with a megaphone.
Some kid came out and asked all us "mother fuckers" to "make some god damn noise", but he did it through Jorgensen’s mic so it was flanged out badly. There's breaking down the 4th wall.
They all came back out (minus al) and started of with assassins. When Jorgenson finally came out, up in the balcony the PB/DC guys kept holding up a towel that said something, but I couldn't really read it. the megaphone was for the next song, stigmata. He ended in the fuck ending. Which was the end of encore 1.
Encore 2 started and ended with psalm 69.
