REVOCATION
EXTINCTION AGENDA
VOLATILE
SKULLETON
DESPOTIC ROBOT
O'Brien's Pub
3 Harvard Ave.
Allston, MA
9 PM - 21+ - $5
im so psyched for this show. so much thrash! no -core bs! |
this is going to be the first Revocation show. |
I was about to ask if Revocation was the CW dudes' new band. And then looked at the flyer mroe carefully. I'm stupid. |
Does this mean that show with RAOV was the last CW show ever? |
the final revocation logo will be available soon...the one on the flyer is just a rough |
Yessss Noise Records 1988 worship with a little Combat Records 1986! |
Let's not neglect Steamhammer! |
Let us not!
Are we doing shorter sets b/c of the 5 bands? (I have no problem with that). Our new bassist will actually be with us at this show, playing at least half the songs! I am psyched. |
I think it'll work out to 25 or 30 min per band. |
this sucks...that's the night of my return to radio show...oh well...thrash will be in abdundance on 6/15 |
That DOES suck. Will you be making an .mp3/podcast? |
RichHorror said: Does this mean that show with RAOV was the last CW show ever? |
nah, we played one more afterwards at a random hall in Somerville |
its gonna be a thrash metal holocaust! |
DrinkHardThrashHard said: That DOES suck. Will you be making an .mp3/podcast? |
Good idea...but how would I do that?? |
Well, you can look into podcasting resource on the web. I unfortunately don't know how to do it, I've been trying to figure it out so I can start my own podcast radio show.
As for making it into an .mp3 for download, easy, just record the show as an .mp3 track. |
DESPOCTIC ROBOT fucking kills. |
PESTILENCE |
Sick Pic!
Van Drunen Uber Alles! |
DEATH |
So I guess this means we gotta play that cover song again. Oh well, "Start the Fire" will just have to wait. |
This is on my birthday. I think I know where I will celebrate careening one year closer to my death. |
Extinction Agenda...now there's a REAL metal band, and I bet my week's paycheck they'd never play Scorz or that strip club place in NH. Fucking stupid spikey hair band motherfuckers. They should all take a tip from EA and play it real. |
i;ll be letting people know during my broadcast 6/15 to go do wn to obrien's immediately after the Stress Factor! |
a little over two weeks away |
Sweet, Bozo's playing!
All of these bands rule. This is going to be a fun night! |
I've got print-quality tiff of my flyer as well, if anyone wants me to email/AIM it to them. Let's see if we can sell out O'Brien's on a Thursday night haha... |
sure!, shoot one over to me at voidexpression@gmail.com |

Very nice flyers, both of them. No need to make one this time. I've been spreading the Alex flyer, let's pack this place. Every band member just needs to make like four groupies by then. |
ive been flyering my ass off for this thing, but I dont have a car so Boston/Cambridge is it for me... hopefully dudes in the suburbs and whatnot will spread the word too. |
... so whose bringin the beer? |
gettin closer... this guy will be there:
excited for this!! Someone better sing me happy birthday in Araya-squeels. |
I think Volatile and Skulleton can squeal a lot better than I can. |
This thread needs bumpage.
One Thursday night. A whole lotta thrash. |
thrash before the show on the radio (WUML 91.5fm 6-9p) then rolling on down to obrien's for the new generation of thrash-aholics carrying the true thrash torch!! |
This guy would DEFINITELY be there.
If he only could... |
thrashy thrash thrash thrash |
Guitar made of beer cans: 10,000 points.
Vintage DEATHROW tee: 100,000,000 points.
I would kill a man with my bare hands and spend the rest of my life in hiding off in the Fiji Islands to have that shirt. |
I have Life Beyond and it fucking kills but I've heard that Deception Ignored is the best. I need to find that or d/l it. |
Deception Ignored is one of the top 10 metal albums ever created (at least to me). A technical thrash symphony, with riffs that seem strange at first but slowly grow on you until you realize it is pure fucking genius. Striving towards something like that or By Inheritance is why I play guitar today, and why I play thrash metal. I'm not even close, but one day...
Life Beyond is awful by comparison. If you can't find Deception Ignored it can hook you up with the .mp3s.
I believe the tee he is wearing is from one of the first two albums though. |
I'm going to break my neck at this show. |
Some of us like your neck, so please don't. Just a few ribs and maybe an ankle or elbow, k? |
Yeah, breaking your neck might get in the way of your womanly duties. Cooking, cleaning, all that. |

dude that sounds fucking awesome. if the riffage is on par with By Inheritance its gotta be incredible, because that album is jaw-dropping. What's your Soulseek name? |
I don't use Soulseek. If you want it hit me up on AIM: Necroletariat
satan's gift to the human race, satan's gift to the world. \m/ badass band. |
you are a credit to the human race, mortalis my friend. |
yeah dude. can't wait till sausagefest deux. deathrash brutality. |
Any chance we could use Revocation's bass cab/head for this gig? We'll bring our own pedal. |
yeah its cool if you use our bass shit |
Thanks, you're more than welcome to use a cab or whatever in return. |
Excellent Pestilence pic. They were great at the Channel. |
ps. I am excited to see all the bands playing but especially Skulleton. That is a really funny name, they better be good! |
this post and the Formicide one almost seems like a new thrash scene, reminiscent of days old, is starting again...THAT would be AWESOME!! |
Sweet I already have the Mullet! |
Skulleton most certainly lives up to their name. The singers voice is a little bit much for me, but the music is great! |
maslayer said: this post and the Formicide one almost seems like a new thrash scene, reminiscent of days old, is starting again...THAT would be AWESOME!! |
It's a hostile takeover!!! |
I just found old demos that I had in the bottom of a box. Nocturnus, Kraze, Burnt Offering, Stygian, Demoliton Hammer and a Huge 3" Tynator button. |
Hell yeah. Stygian, they went on to Chastain's label Leviathan? I think I have one of their cassettes, it's pretty good. |
If there aren't a shitload of dudes in white t-shirts and blue jeans at this I'm gonna be bummed. |
will you pout? that'd be adorable. |
I am adorable at all times. |
Did this thread actually try and escape!?!
I don't think so. |
Hey DrinkHardThrashHard can I get your cell # |
I actually don't have one.
What's up?
Shit, I still need to send those demo tracks over. On it. |
Its cool it was for future booking purposes, dealing with phones is faster and better than the internet a lot of times. |
I'll send my home # over with the demo tracks. |
The phone is a vile and evil thing. |
Ha. I'm sure you got more people calling you than I do. |
DrinkHardThrashHard said: Ha. I'm sure you got more people calling you than I do. |
People call me all the time. I glance at the wretched ringing thing and go back to whatever I'm doing. Someday they will learn. I HATE the fucking phone. |

Me too |
Hey would Extinction Agenda be willing to play a house party show tomorrow night in Durham NH with my band and Despotic Robot. I know its last minute but it would be pretty badass to have two days of thrash in a row. |
I'm afraid I won't be able to as I have an obligation. |
I hate to ask, but Alex, any chance we could go on a little earlier in the lineup? Maybe 2nd? 3rd? Bassist has to wake up at 6am. |
If it was for an established member of the band, maybe, but not for a n00b, sorry! |
I kid, you guys could swap with VOLATILE if they're cool with it. |
I don't know if I can make this, long story, I'm gonna try. :( |
No sweat, girl. It's a long way to go. There is always August.
VOLATILE, are you cool with switching spots? |
what time will the first band start? |
wish i could go guys, hope its a sick show!!! |
Blue said: what time will the first band start? |
I'd estimate around 9pm, we probably want to keep a tight schedule so all the bands can finish. |
This is going to be a great time, see everyone there! |
I'm going to try and move at least 3 times for you. Count them. |
I'm devising a plan. It may involve stealing a car... |
if last night's thrash party in NH was any indication, tonight is going to be awesome.
Everyone should make sure to get there on time, because Despotic Robot fucking kill. |
DrinkHardThrashHard said: No sweat, girl. It's a long way to go. There is always August.

I will be there on time. I don't want to miss any of the bands. |

I AM GOING TO MOVE. THREE TIMES. LIVE. IF YOU MISS THIS SHOW, YOU MISS THAT! |
I'm a huge shoegazer fan. You have now lost my attendance. |
it won't ever happen again sir! |
RichHorror said: pam said:dammit someone come and steal me away. I want to thrash! |

I thought you were going to that other show! |
Call me or IM me. This site is for the worship of Rich Horror, not conversations. |
Yay, I'll be there. Rich is my own personal savior. |
So if the Grave Digger tune was used for its namesake as the theme to Heavy Metal Breakdown...I wonder what the theme to TMT will be... |
Scott, don't allow me to leave without an ExAgenda demo and shirt. |
Didn't you take a demo at that other Heavy Metal Breakdown with Noosebomb? I'll hold onto one for you since I'll only have a few with me.
We'll have plenty of shirts. If we sell a few we'll actually be able to drive home and not camp out in Allston. |
I did, and then shortly after ran over a yield sign. Most of the little stuff like that in my car ended up gone. |
I can't believe a Yield sign took out an Extinction Agenda demo. Next time we'd better get heavier. |
I've got the kerosene.
Who's bringing the huffers? |
Sorry, all I have are pills for me and my girlfriend. |
That's no way to take yourself out. |
I think I've already established my immortality and indestructability. |
I should be ready about 5, dearest. |
Way to make us all jealous! |
You too can be with beautiful women... just be fat, bald, self-loathing and have an unkillable addiction to pills and booze. |
Wait..............I am all of those things. |
Oh, I forgot my mutant healing factor. |
Fuck, I don't even have health insurance. |
Neither do I. That's why I have a mutant healing factor. |
So just for shits and giggles, let's say....
DESPOTIC ROBOT - 9:15 - 9:40
SKULLETON - 9:55 - 10:20
EXTINCTION AGENDA - 10:35 - 11:05
VOLATILE - 11:20 - 11:50
REVOCATION - 12:05 - ? |
It looks like i'm gonna be skipping work for this show. At least i'll be fired for a good purpose. |
good man. work is for niggers
...wait |
One last bump before I go-go. |
yeah, I'm leaving to go walk around bosotn.
I don't have anything to do now and it's wicked nice looking out. |
While you're at it, score some blow. |
I was just there. no one else was so I went to herrels.
sitting here and some girl just brought in a snake. |
id be there, but i contracted aids at work so i left early. |
my voice is almost gone... my husky tones will populate mr horror's dreams tonight.
despotic robot: the vocals were so quiet that you could barely hear them at all. When the vocals did actually come out, they were sort of carcassy grind sounding. This went along with some of the melodic guitar plarts hidden in their mostly thrash songs (which is probably their inheritence from another former band). after a song about DJ nitro and some other critical dudes, they finished off with a grim reaper cover and the singer sounded more like bruce dickenson. |
Sick gig, all the bands were awesome, Anthony is the best guitar player in our state by far.
Thanks for having us Alex and thanks everyone for coming out! |
Oh, and also, good to break the ice and finally talk to a lot of you people in person! |
night train, nitro, I'm from NH how do I know? |
ps: I'm home working on the pictures |
pictures uploading in a second |
Whoa, I seem to have lost some pounds over the past week... |
Hey hey. This is the Skulleton drummer. I'd like to thank everyone for showing up tonight and thrashin' for us! We're open to other shows in the area, so definitely get in touch with us if you want us to play. Check out our website at: www.speedmetalmafia.com and shoot us an e-mail!

GREAT show. I wasn't into the first two bands but the last three fucking killed!! I forgot for a couple hours that this was the worst birthday ever, thanks for that! I have the worst headache/toothache combo ever right now, so I'm going to pass out. |

For the record, my Dunkin Donuts was out of chocolate frosted coffee rolls. I actually checked this afternoon. So I still owe you one.
Happy birthday! |
I was gonna give you shit about that, too. I forgot.
Thanks! Thanks for the birthday song. I talked to the other birthday person outside, too. haha. |
I'm the only one that yelled happy birthday and I don't have a voice anymore. |
I realized that, and felt terrible. I guess birthdays just aren't very metal... |
rich yelled something that someone shouldn't yell at someone they want to go home with. |
It worked for my parents, and they were happily[?] married for 25 years. |
It's ok, I got like 40 happy birthday comments on myspace, and myspace is all that matters.

Oh, that was me by the way....I plan on wearing it at the doom & grind fest, to illustrate to the kiddies that when Warfare was kicking it Pure Filth style, Municipal Waste and all the other nu-thrash banditos were still embryos in their mommies' guts....Hope the show went well last night, I went to the Watchmaker/Abhorred gig cause I could practically walk home from the club they played....I'll see E.A. next time 'round. |

When Ian [doorguy/soundguy] actually jumps to his feet to stop someone from pigpiling because fake thrash scene fags are acting so stupid, I know it's gotten bad. If someone made it so O'Briens shied away from putting on metal/grind/whatever shows I would without hesitation break the neck of whatever shithead caused that to happen. That would be why I [and many other people there last night] were getting progressively more irritated as the night went on. |

That actually was pretty hilarious to watch though, so it gets my endorsement. The show was a great time overall, with the exception of the first two bands who I couldn't really get into. Extinction Agenda was great as usual and I forgot how much fun Volatile is to see live, it's like watching a thrash cartoon (meant in the best way possible of course). Revocation was fucking amazing! Thanks for putting this together Alex! |
Volatile was one of the most entertaining bands I've seen in a long time. It was tongue in cheek without being ironic faggotry. |
GravityBlast said: Yeah, pushing around a dude who is half your weight and half a foot shorter than you is really camera worthy. Uncross your arms and relax. |
It would have been better if I had gone last night. I would have been the dickhead pushing around shitheads 1/3 my weight and a full foot shorter.
Stay out of Boston! You're wicked que-er. |
Volatile is awesome.
I can honestly say I enjoyed all the bands and can't wait to hear more from them in the future! |

I have been the ultimate fake thrash scene fag for over two decades now. But I don't tangle with the Horror. |
People are into whatver they're into. Even if I think it's pathetic I could give a fuck less. When they start fucking up venues to play at, I beging to give a fuck. |
I think I missed this. Was I outside when this happened? |
It was pretty much through Revocation's entire set over by the PA. At one point it looked like Rich was going to drag some kid outside. Good times! |
Ah that explains it, I was too busy being humbled by the insane musical prowess on stage. |

From everything I've read, so do I. Once certain people learn behavior at some trashed basement is not the same behavior at a bar/club, the world will be a better place. |
Man were you there? Who were you? |
Sheesh, I didn't realize there was so much drama... I guess that's what I get for taking so many weed breaks. It's awesome that the retard that grabbed Marsi's tits and acted like an ass during SKULLETON got clocked in the parking lot though. |
Yeah, that guy got some come uppance. |
Craig was the dude in BORN AGAINST shirt/ RO/CK hat. |
that was me! Who were you? |
skulleton: whoah, wayne (ex- eternal suffering) on drums. Last time I saw him on stage was in 2000. the band was 2 guitarists and him. One of the guitarist played a lot of harmonics that sounded like video games. The other played a lot of the rhythym and sang in that high pseudo king diamond thrash voice which comes across funny live, but people used to be all about. |
I am still all about that. |
Skulleton were funny. I liked them a lot. I liked their song Drunk and Undead. I'd go see them again. |
Bitches, Booze & Bullet Belts. Words to live by.
Drunk and Undead. Words to die by. |
I left my bullet belt in Monterrey Nuevo Leon Mexico. US border guards don't much like gnarly dudes with ammo around their waists. I gave it to a guy named Viko. When I met him he was wearing a Cock and Ball Torture teeshirt. I don't think he knows what that means though. |
extinction agenda: I was promised a lot of motion but didn't get it. that's not to discredit the brief seconds that DHTH thought he was in all out war and aimed his guitar at me. but it didn't really matter cause the crowd took it over. They were packed right up to the stage and pumping their fists. they swear that this is the last time they are busting out the pestilence song, but we'll see. Somehow I think that is a promise that people won't mind them breaking. |
volatile: first, I was the one that got them to do the cover I wanted, we asked for the witch and they gave us the witch. At the start of their set, most people were MIA. I was thinking how completely lame this was, but as I thought about hpw lame it was, more people filtered in. They are fun, but it's that akwardly funny sort of this to watch where it's funny to watch cause you know that everyone has no clue what to say, even the band. eddie ended the set the same way he ends every set, with the mic, in the crowd screaming (cause his gear broke.) |
I requested that one too! Credit whore!
I think my jaw struck the floor when Eddie started going loco. |
revocation: so rich horror security guard? is that a title you can keep up? And why the hell did CW stop playing? same dudes. Mostly same music. What gives. if you saw CW, you know what to expect. Their playing makes people twice their age quit music and makes young kids thrash out. |
Revocation doesn't just set the bar for modern technical metal, they smash it. Fuck Arsis. |
RichHorror said: As an aside, I'm upset to see there are no photos of me tossing around guys with shaggy hair and trucker hats. |
Those would have been glorious up on your MySpace page. I can whip up an artists renditioning, if it would make you feel better. |

hey...this is the guitarist/singer from SKULLETON...not to be to picky, but i was also in Eternal Suffering. i was the original bassist and later became the second guitarist...but, i admit, i look a lot different without all that hair!! |
I think I saw Eternal Suffering in....Milwaukee? Not sure if it's the same band...? |
dave, that guitar looks like it belongs in Jem's band.
JEM IS OUTRAGEOUS! |
But Dave could play a tupperware set and it would sound like Tchaikovsky. |

DrinkHardThrashHard said: Revocation doesn't just set the bar for modern technical metal, they smash it. Fuck Arsis. |
It's funny that you should mention Arsis because that is exactly who I was thinking of when I was watching them, with the ridiculously tight three man lineup and what not. I was lucky enough to catch Arsis at O'briens a few years back and watching James from Arsis pull off those songs with just one guitar blew my mind. That was one of the most amazing displays of technical prowess that I've ever seen (mind you, I'm not a guitar player so I'm just talking out of my ass!), not unlike the Revocation set last night. It made me sad for all the times I missed out on seeing Cryptic Warning. Keep it up guys, you fucking rule! |
The guitarist from Revocation [whose name always escapes me] makes the best rock faces in New England, bar none. |
Dave Davidson, son of David.
And I agree.
I actually don't like Arsis much. Technically they are insane but there are just no songs in it for me. Their 2nd release, that EP was a little better. |

If jumping on your friends' backs and moving around is acting sooooo stupid, then touche to you. I've never known that to be 'out of control'. Next time we'll stand there with crossed arms and grimaces.
I've never played or been into metalcore, and how would you know that were 'fake thrash scene fags'? We get along with just about everyone. We're not clique-y at all. Taking e-jabs like that is really ignorant.
Get to know people before you pass judgement and you may appear less disgruntled. |
And maybe we can all sit around the campfire sometime too. But probably not.
If the soundguy there, who is the most laid back 'I don't give a fuck' person I've met is jumping to his feet to stop shit, that's good enough for me.
And I was told be someone who shall remain nameless that your very gay singer was in fact in a very gay metalcore band.
I will never not despise you. |
Pete has never been in a metalcore band. I don't sweat stupid stuff like this, but go on being angry if you wish...I'm done. |
Thanks for the permission slip, Sally. |

Ha, that was me! If I'm not mistaken, their singer was in Cyanide Breed, who, while not exactly metalcore (more like melodic death metal I guess - it's just more fun to call people metalcore), sure had seen more hetero days. With that said, I didn't mind Despotic Robot, they definitely were entertaining, but it was also entertaining seeing Rich man-handle them protecting his turf (and kudos to him for that!)
I was so subdued that night. I didn't use my fists, forearms or knees on anyone. Nor did I throw anyone through a window. |
Okay, I just can't help myself. Referring to a venue as someones' "turf" is blatantly clique-y and "scene". And if moving around is out of control, surely you're being hypocritical as well Rich. I'm really done now. E-trash and threaten as you wish. |
I haven't threatened anyone. I've stated facts. If the staff is uncomfortable to the point of jumping to their feet with a look of worry on their face, the staff is uncomfortable to the point of not doing shows that ren't folk or indie rock. And for that, yes, I would beat the shit out of someone. |
i walked into somebody, then felt stupid after. |
Eddie was on shrooms, so he actually walked through them and into an Aerosmith show at BU in the seventies. |

Moving around is out of control for a place like O'Briens. It's a small bar, with PA speakers on tripods that could easily be knocked over and there are big fucking beams in the middle of the floor. |

This is how Aerosmith got famous. |
I'm sure Rich has never contributed to the knocking over of an O'Brien's PA speaker before himself ;) |
No, that's ridiculous even as a thought.
It should be pointed out that I am a hypocrite and a bully. |
As I stated to Rich earlier, the only band people are allowed to mosh for at O'Brien's is Hirudinea and that's FINAL! |
That is Massachusetts state law. |
Hahah, that's seriously awesome. |
This is the gayest thread ever. Cyanide Breed wasn't metalcore, Despotic Robot isn't full of "scene fags," and I bet if somebody had asked them to stop goofing around without being confrontational about it then they would have stopped, and went out into the parking lot and quietly played Magic: The Gathering. |
I would definitely punch someone if they played Magic: The Gathering. But oddly, not if they played 'Overpower', the Marvel Comics-themed alternative. |
I tap one mountain, and blast a fireball off of your polished cueball of a head for 3 damage. |
You forgot to turn the card sideways, moron. |

MikePile said: Despotic Robot isn't full of "scene fags," |
You're right, actually. It was pretty much just the singer and his identically-dressed friend. And one of their guitarists looks like a young, heterosexual Paul Stanley... for whatever that's worth. |
Tinder Wall, Zuran Orb, Channel, Fireball, sack your mana for the win! |
3 reasons why you hate lamb of god....go |

i guess you've never seen ABHORRED covering all Slayer songs there. |
i just looked at this thread finally. thanks to everyone who like the Revocation set! This show was really cool, thanks to Alex Onslaught for putting together such a killer lineup. I enjoyed watching all the bands.
