I love Dragonforce, but I as much as anyone found it pretty sickening that so many people left after them and didn't stay for Gamma Ray. I don't even have any Gamma Ray albums and I recognized how important it was for me to stay. I guess this thread will probably fizzle out after a few posts but who knows? If you stayed for Gamma Ray (whether you like the Force or not is inconsequential in this thread), raise your fist in the air and be proud! And post a little something in here. Here's my little something:

FUCKING GAMMA RAY!!!!

Power Metal is Ramma Gay.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at May 2,2006 9:27pm
i didn't go, but they were one of the only bands worth going for

toggletoggle post by BestialOnslaught  at May 2,2006 10:12pm
I was there. I'm wearing the shirt to prove it.

toggletoggle post by KeithMutiny  at May 2,2006 10:16pm
they only sold the shirts during thier set?

toggletoggle post by Dar at May 2,2006 10:30pm
stay for them, I WENT for them...well, them and WOLF
I just lurk here but some of you guys'd probably recognize me, I was wearing a white municipal waste shirt at the fest. I was pretty surprised to see BestialOnslaught and the singer from Hirudinea showing up to sing along with Gamma Ray. It was a great show, I didn't miss all the more trendy DF fans (the highlight of their set for me was the kid with the white belt, scene hair and Coliseum shirt singing along more accurately than the chubby nerd metal types) and it didn't seem like Kai did either, so fuck em...

HA!
I was the kid with the Sox hat and the yellow MW shirt.
And I saw that scene geek singing along and gettin knocked over. The fat kids were funny too.
Wolf rocked balls.
I was gonna stay for Gamma Ray (I know who they are and listen to them) but I was tired as hell.
And I love Dragonforce.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at May 2,2006 10:56pm
metalcore kids liking power metal is almost as gay as emo's existence.

toggletoggle post by slowlypeelingtheflesh   at May 2,2006 11:24pm
just because someone doesnt like Gamma Ray over another band doesnt make them any less of a person, who cares? Power metal is dumb anyway

toggletoggle post by KeithMutiny  at May 2,2006 11:28pm
haha, jokes on you, all the vagina was everywhere that gamma ray wasnt.

suckers.

Kai Hansen is legend.

Actually do you guys have a set list for Gamma Ray? Curious what they did end up playing.

toggletoggle post by cav at May 3,2006 12:41am
dude metalcore and hardcore kids love dragonforce its so funny.....i personally think that they put on a hell of a show but their music pisses me off because every song has the same song structure....i realize they are good guitarists but the songwriting is absolute bs. its easy to concentrate on shred when every song is the same.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at May 3,2006 12:42am
They love the chance to be ironic.

And you are right in your evaluation of DF.

toggletoggle post by cav at May 3,2006 12:43am
actually if you want to hear shred as well as great song writing check out the band that are opening for them on tour...protest the hero

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at May 3,2006 12:46am
Pretty sure I've heard them. The shredding is decent but I wasn't feeling the songs that much.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at May 3,2006 12:47am
it's kinda got a poppy, almost emo sound to it...so it'll turn a lot of people off...but I think the songs are diverse and well put together.

it's just that occasion venture into emo that'll keep metalheads away

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at May 3,2006 12:48am
What? Protest the Hero? Yeah, it kind of has that in the bandname.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at May 3,2006 12:49am
yeah, sorry I should've quoted

Gamma Ray were awesome, and too the person who made the ramma gay joke bwha ha joke's on you, some metal band, primal fear?, listed a thanks to "Ramma Gay" in one of their cds

Why does everyone hate on differnt metal genres, I love them all, asides from the genres I haven't heard, ie grind, sludge ect. I can find something absurdly cheesy in all styles. Bands like Amon Amarth are awesome but did you ever notice how much the singers sound like the cookie monster, prog bands are good and all, but have you ever noticed how boring the music gets after 12 minutes of the first song, power metal sings about dragons and knights, folk metal is just downright silly with all the accordian players and dudes in furs screaming about trolls, black metal is downright cheesy with all the make up and costumes on top of the screeching vocals singing about the grim north and dark evil beezulbub.

but know what, I love them all.

Yeah it pissed me off that no one stayed for Gamma Ray, but then again it was a sunday night, and most of the people there went for dragonforce and probably had only heard of the name of Gamma ray, let alone Kai Hansen.

I'm still pissed at all the dat nerdy kids, ie the one with the goofy bolwers top hat, booing and flipping off Jack frost of seven witches.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at May 3,2006 9:11am
I like bands from all metal genres except nu-metal, modern metalcore, and fairy metal (Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, etc).

I can't figure it out either.

Seven Witches suck though, just read the awful lyrics.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 3,2006 9:17am
I stayed for a little over 30 minutes, but had to get home. I listened until the helloween song and then carina and I had to jet.

toggletoggle post by retzam at May 3,2006 2:37pm
What is fairy metal? A metal band with a girl singer? Other than that Nightwish and Lacuna Coil don't have much in common.

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at May 3,2006 3:40pm
I wanted to go for Gamma Ray on Sunday, like last year when I went on Sunday for King Diamond

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at May 3,2006 3:43pm
king diamond was my reason for going last year.
