My dad saw the Beatles at Boston Garden in '64.
My mom saw the Yardbirds. I was bugging her for info about it. From what I could gather it was '67 or '68, when Jimmy Page was in the band.
That's it. My parents weren't "cool kids" apparently.
Although my mom took me to several awesome shows when I was too young to go by myself. My mom has seen Kiss twice, she saw Iron Maiden on the Powerslave tour. She saw Metallica with Cliff. A few others too.
I had a girlfriend who's parents met at a ZZ Top show in the 70's.
My mother went to the Beatles show at Shea stadium. The one where the screams of teenaged girls, were so loud, that the Beatles couldnt tell that they were out of tune.
I asked my Dad if he went to Woodstock, seeing as how were from NY, he said
"why the hell would I go sit in the mud for 3 days when Ive already seen EVERY single band already?"
Good point I guess. |
My mom has seen Motley Crue, KISS, Aerosmith, and Bon Jovi. She still has a couple of the tickets stubs from it. |

i have an old album and a double CD..haven't listened to them in a long assed time! |
my parent's were dirty hippies. I'm going to ask them what concerts they went too.. I'm sure they won't remember most, but in a good way. you know, like I've done way too much crystal meth. |
oh and I'm sorry, but this is an awesome thread. I just emailed my mom and dad. I do know that my mom was 16 and too young to go to woodstock. her mom wouldn't let her go. |
2 iron maiden concerts
aerosmith
metallica/guns n' roses
pink floyd
slayer and unsane
the flaming lips and butthole surfers

I asked my pops about this and i have never heard any of these people (well some):
Dean Martin?, Perry Como?, Frank Sinatra, John Cash, Wes Montgomery?, Elvis Presley, damn, for the life of me i can't remember the other names.

I am pushing 33, but you made me feel better about my age, haha!
I saw Floyd in I think '93 so not that bad. I think that was the year, but hard to tell with all the acid I was on.
haha yeah it was either 93 or 94 it was at foxboro anyways i didnt get to go inside but went with my brother and some friends we hung out in the parking lot and heard shit just fine. |
jeez, everyone else's posts make my parents look like losers! i don't think they saw any cool shows as kids. i think they went to see bonnie raitt about 10-12 years ago, but that's not a cool show.
my brother saw a weird al concert. |
oh yeah and the slayer/unsane show was the best slayer show ive ever seen. axis was far too small for that show but it made it fucking better. otherwise id go with slayer, meshuggah and sick of it all at lupos |

My mom is always telling me about the shows she's been to, whenever she gets drunk at one of my shows.
Let's see...
Allman Bros. Band
Santana (in the 60s)
The Beatles
Fleetwod Mac (pre-females)
Velvet Underground
others too, can't remember right now |
My dad saw Hendrix at the Boston Garden, and each parent was dragged to a Metallica show at one time or another |

Several festivals with lots of local and other
people

I know there were others but I can;t think of the
names..many of them are no longer..some I saw a
bunch of times..as in zappa I saw 7 times in a
row..the last show i was right at the stage at
the old music hall in boston..
being able to say you saw zappa is pretty cool. |
oh, she also saw willie nelson a couple months ago. |
My Mom brought me to see the Ramones in Miami beach in '89. They played in a club the size of DBH, at 100 mph. I think they played 38 songs in 30 mins.
The opening band was 'Trouble' |
I know my Dad saw Aerosmith at some old club in Salsbury Beach back in '71, and my uncle was at Woodstock.....that's all I got |

Nice. My parents saw the Beatles at Suffolk Downs. My Aunt saw Zep and Aerosmith and she went to Woodstock. I went to Page and Plant at the Garden in '95. SICK show!!!
My dad went to see Motley Crue way back when Tommy Lee had the drum set that hovered over the crowd and did flips and shit. |

Yeah, the Yardbirds were like the grandfathers of heavy metal. All the bands that spawned metal can be traced back to the Yardbirds (Cream, Jeff Beck Group, Led Zeppelin) |
when my dad worked at the log ride at paragon park in hull he saw aerosmith a shit load of times. he also saw deep purple mach 1 and 2 allman bros. etc. |
allman bros. and deep purple were not at paragon he also saw led zep |
My buddys dad saw and has the original poster for when the doors played in hull...thats fucking sweet. |
My dad used to go to Paragon Park. He even took me there once a couple years before it shut down. I should ask him if he ever saw any bands there.
One time I had a dream that I went to a show with my dad, and Skid Row and GFY played.
And my mom played drums for Mortician. |
This guy I work with in his 50's was just telling me about how he saw Led Zeppelin at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom on the Led Zeppelin 1 tour. He traded a hit of acid for his ticket.
Oh yeah, Charlie Infection told me his first concert was Deep Purple on the Burn tour. That must've been amazing. |
My Dad saw Anal Cunt back in 95'......he really dug their shit. |
My dad saw Aerosmith in some dude's basement. That's about it. |
my dad has a manowar leather jacket |
Some of the shows my parents have seen....
Janis Joplin w/Big brother and the holding company
Jimi Hendrix
Cream
Creedence
Yardbirds
Skynyrd
My dad is the cunt that thought she was God. |

My mother saw the Beatles at Suffolk Downs(i think) , it may have been somewhere else
She saw the Newport Folk Festival when Bob Dylan got booed for going electric
She saw the Doors at a club in Cambridge called the Psychadelic Rooster right around when light my fire was released as a single
My dad and mom saw Chicago in the early 70's a couple times, between 70 and 73.
I'm most jealous of the Chicago show |
My parents both saw 2 seperate back to back shows at the Orphemum from Bob Marley and Stevie Wonder. They were at newport when Dylan played electric. I dunno they're both over 60, they've seen plenty of good ones. |
my parents saw raising kubrick at the tsongas. |
my parents saw hirudinea at o'briens! |
my dad opened for the yardbirds and aerosmith...weird
my mom was way into the doors and the doobie brothers...i don't know about all the concerts they went to though |
My mom saw Suicide Dream at The Webster Theatre the first time we played there; my dad has never seen us live once. Neither of them went to any cool concerts when they were younger. |
My Mom saw AEROSMITH at the Hotel Viking and LED ZEPPELIN at Festival Field in Newport. |
my mother went to woodstock |
Oh yeah I forgot, My mom went to Carcass/Death/Pestilence with me and a friend, I did not have a vehicle at that point |

that's funny. that's where my parents actually met. they both worked there and they both saw bunches of shows there. |
my dad is standing right here and is very impressed someone "on this hard metal board" knows who chick corea is. he said he saw him in the late 70's with Gary Burton and then Al DeMeola a guitarist that would put any "hard metal" guitarist to shame (this is his exact words guys). He then saw the Chick Corea Electric Band back in 1993 and was blown away.
no i hate jazz music, its all my dad listens to. |
paragon always reminded me of the park in the movie "the lost boys". i remember the roller coaster before they tore it down. i wish that park was still there. now hull is brockton by the sea.

Is this Brad?
Yeah, seeing Chicago in the early 70's must've been amazing. I was just listening to the Carnegie Hall album recently. Best live album ever. |
My dad saw Exodus and Anal Cunt at the Middle East downstairs in '97.
My mom saw EyeHateGod/Today is the Day/Anal Cunt at CBGB in '98.
She also saw the Anal Cunt acoustic show at Wetlands in '96 and she was the one who supplied the picnic basket.

I bet a bear stole that picanic basket at some point.
they are always freaking doing that! |
