Simpsons and Family Guy were both quite good this week, but not great. The last South Park I could say the same thing about.
The reason it's so noticable is because each show had an absolutely great episode recently (the previous South Park and Family Guy, and The Simpsons from a few weeks ago with the story within a story within a story); high standards are a double-edged sword.

I personally thought Chef Dies was WAY better than the hybrid episode (that's actually the episode I was trying to compliment in my original post). I almost never laugh out loud for more than a second or two even when I think something is brilliantly hilarious, and I pretty much never laugh at dirty language jokes that have nothing else to them, but that whole scene when Chef said "I'm gonna make love to your asshole, children" with a big smile on his face, I was totally laughing my ass off non-stop for just about the whole scene. (The only time I can remember laughing at anything for that long was that dead-on G.W. Bush impersonation at the otherwise shitty Jeff Foxworthy Roast on Comedy Central.)
