Failure...this is great...

1. Go to Google

2. Type in the word "Failure"

3. Instead of clicking "Google Search," click "I'm Feeling Lucky."

4.

5. Spread the word before the people at google fix it.

funny.
but is it funnier than this:

1. Go to Google

2. Type in the phrase "French Military victories"

3. Instead of clicking "Google Search," click "I'm Feeling Lucky."

4. Google will have nothing to fix because the French's history is that of turning and running with their tales between their legs and allowing the U.S. to finish the job.

you freedom naysayers are idiots. WE ARE FREE!!! TOTAL freedom means anarchy. yeah there are some things you dont agree with, but just because you dont agree with them doesnt mean they are necessarily wrong. you can do ANYTHING YOU WANT in this country. you just have to face the consequences of your actions. its not a difficult concept, and it doesnt denote a lack of freedom. fucking hippies

i do whatever i want whenever the fuck i want(i'm just not a dick and don't want to do stupid ridiculous things all the time)

the only reason i dsagree with saying this is a "free country" is the amount of fuckin money it takes to live here

oh ok so by all the cameras being put up on random street corners around boston is totally for my freedom i guess.

you hippies need to stop using the same arguments over and over again

i totally believe that there's a hidden purpose behind what the government does...but i also know that they cannot control me if i don't let them(by being smart about doing illegal things and trying to stay away from heavily populated areas(although i just moved into worcester, but i think i can manage)

yes, it's such a free country that the government is spying on us, cops are telling me how fast I can drive while they drive faster, and I can't grow what I want on land I want to occupy. I'm being illegally taxed without representation, and old men want to tell me how I can behave sexually and what I can and can't do with my own body. It's only a free country if you happen to be a corporation, then you can do whatever you want with no consequences, like steal and murder people.

the government is in rough shape, true, but it's because a bunch of money-hungry gredy pieces of shit are in the majority of the offices right now. they're all getting old though...

the cops are there for your protection, you have better chances of surviving a crash at 50 than you do at 100...they drive faster to hopefully catch any wreckless drivers on the road

the old men that try to control what you do with your own body are religious zealots and part of that same dying breed

the people in office right now are from a different generation, you can't predict the future based off of 20 years of american history

what you are claiming as freedom is purely idealistic. WELCOME TO REALITY! you cant just run around doing whatever the fuck you want, that is called ANARCHY, as i previously stated. we need law, rule, and control. people cant function on their own, they need to be guided. yes i disagree with the marijuana law, but nothing is perfect. it takes time before things change. you cant have it the way you want it just because you think its right. you are free to do as you please, but there are repercussions. you just want to be able to do whatever you want without having to deal with any after effects. you want that? go live in the woods. freedom is allowing you to type what you want on a computer all the while sitting and living the hippy life. go to Iraq and tell me we arent free. you are free to practice religion as you wish, free to go to the store to buy porn, free to eat and drink whatever you want, whenever you want. you want lawless freedom. go over to Rwanda. technically they are "free" as they have no real government. tell me how it goes.

toggletoggle post by whiskey_weed_and_women  at Apr 6,2006 3:33pm
hmm interesting theories since a lot of you stated isnt true, if youre happy living on miniumalist freedom then please cont. to enjoy it. i think after living in several different parts of this country im pretty sure its not as free and easy going happy as youd love to think it would be and for that matter throwing out other countries to compare isnt how you judge or should weigh how free our country is. just remember all these freedoms were fought by people here in this country cause of the people in charge not wanting people to have the rights to it. and yeah i have the right to say whatever i want about this country and will continue to do so.

also laws ARE needed but its when the laws are against basic human right of humanity or nature that they need to be looked at again, instead of what will be better for the corporations that backed your campaign to get into office or the gods you worship.

ha nope, im just some dood on a messageboard who doesnt know jackshit. i just enjoy bitching you got me.

or

no its not cause you're still just a local troll.

how about hmm either in downtown pvd or in texas watching cops beat kids who are trying to leave shows or clubs in orderly fashion but deciding theyre not leaving fast enough.

how about being pulled over at 4:30am in the morning on the way to your second job and lied to about having a headlight out when both of them are clearly on and visible to then be asked if youve been drinking and then given a 350 ticket for having your high beams on when you dont.

hmm this was a good one, how about your friend going up to a cop looking for help and you can see he was hit with something and his head was cut up but instead of asking what happend or if he needed help, you know due to the fact he was bleeding down his face, you know they get arrested.

this was a good one too, sitting in park reading a book and having a cop coming up and asking me what i was doing there. and then asking to search my person and backpack but i guess that as long as its to fight terrorists and keep our freedoms shit like this should be cool.

now not so cop shit, how about seeing dumping sites on the side of the road in both GA and Texas. nothing done about it, just you know shitload of waste and trash on the sides of the road.

which laws, well this will clearly be something to do with tax dollars how about no medicare for people who are dying and before people come in and start worrying about their tax dollar....anyone here listen to that lil band death. yeah a lil health insurance could have helped.

but whatever these are just words and im sure these are all normal things im blowing up about that shouldnt be made into freedom issues. whatever

Nice try, Anarchism is actually when people control their own lives, and make their own decisions instead of having someone they've never met before make decisions for them. It's being self-reliant and helping everyone else, like having co-ops instead of corporations so everyone has an equal share, and there are no bosses, you get back what you put in, you profit from your hard work instead of others profiting from your work while you starve. It's about no taxation without representation, and not following laws that you had no say in making that serve no purpose but to limit your personal freedom.

Here's the only law we need, do whatever you want so long as you're not hurting anyone or anything else.

Anarchism is not that. Anarchism is the breakdown and elimination of law and government. Anywho... nothing you just said would ever work. You basically just described Communism, and we all know how well that works. People want to do the least amount of work and get the maximum payout. If everyone could think and work the same way, it could be pulled off. Its just not realistic. With the law thing, its virtually impossible to have all 298,465,836 people in the U.S. vote on every law that gets made. If you got an idea I'd love to hear it.

Isn't that what I just described? If there wasn't a government here, then we'd control our own lives. It would work, co-ops work. Anarchism and Communism are 2 different things, I'm describing the Anarchist view. We could easily vote locally about each law that affects us, without a government and an economy, you'd need fewer laws anyways.

Partly...

What you described was more of a combination of the two. Anarchism is just getting rid of laws and government. It has nothing to do with living in harmony where everyone does an equal share and gets an equal cut. That part is communism, and if you put that part into the scheme of things, you have a form of government. Therefore, Anarchism is gone. You can either have one or the other.

If you were to have a local vote, you would have to hold an election every other day. How would you include them in the discussions about the laws in order to change them to something you like better? How would you educate the public on what the bills are, what they are for, the reason for making them (thats the big one, cause you still have congressmen that don't know what half of that stuff is)?

If we're going to have a free market system at least go all out and remove all constraints on employers and employees. If some guy is all pissed about not getting a raise the police should not stop him from shooting his boss or the entire payroll office. If someone really wanted them to live don't you think the invisible hand would stop the bullets?

Isn't that what I just described?

Partly...

What you described was more of a combination of the two. Anarchism is just getting rid of laws and government. It has nothing to do with living in harmony where everyone does an equal share and gets an equal cut.

Riiight, try learning a little more about Anarchism, Emma Goldman mentioned a hell of alot more than just getting rid of laws and government. Anarchism is a set of beliefs, it was developed as a reaction against fascism. And it has plenty to do with co-ops, worker's rights, mutual aid, ending class warfare, and ensuring that the indivdual is involved in making decisions that affect them, or self-government. This would involve getting rid of our current facist, authoritarian institutions. I don't see anything wrong with that...how is that extreme?

If you were to have a local vote, you would have to hold an election every other day. How would you include them in the discussions about the laws in order to change them to something you like better? How would you educate the public on what the bills are, what they are for, the reason for making them (thats the big one, cause you still have congressmen that don't know what half of that stuff is)?

I guess that would be up to each community to decide...I like the idea of having a barbecue once or twice a month and working everything out then. Again there wouldn't be too many laws to work out because all the bullshit would be gone. Of course it would be easier for this idea to work if the majority of the U.S. weren't horribly overpopulated, apathetic, fat, stupid cows clinging to the idea that they have to continue supporting the very system that enslaves them.

anarchism
n.
1. The theory or doctrine that all forms of government are oppressive and undesirable and should be abolished.
2. Active resistance and terrorism against the state, as used by some anarchists.
3. Rejection of all forms of coercive control and authority: “He was inclined to anarchism; he hated system and organization and uniformity” (Bertrand Russell).

government
n.
1. A system or policy by which a unit is governed.
(I only used one cause there's 500 definitions for government and this is the only one that applies)

So anarchism is the descruction and lack of control (i.e no government). A government is a system of living set up to "keep the pease". Everything you described about equal work, equal pay is a system of living, therefore a form of government. So tell me... How are they supposed to happen at the same time? Whoever wrote that crap you read doesn't even have the common sence to use a dicionary to make sure she had the right word.

Wow, I wasn't aware that everything to be known about Anarchy is all contained in a dictonary definition, truly stunning the amount of infromation that gives about the principles of Anarchy, much more than what I've studied in books and documentarys. I give up, you've totally wowed me with the amazing scope of info there.

Anarchy as you described it is a wonderful idealogy. However, putting into practice would only work if everyone complies with whatever laws are established by the votes. I don't see a world where EVERYONE is complicit without any enforcement, it just wouldn't happen. (If it could, we could also make democracy work, by voting out both parties and picking non-corrupt candidates to clean up the system).

What impartial institution guarantees that everyone in a local vote would be informed of the time and place of the voting? What if the counting of votes was disputed? What if someone, anyone, loses their temper, at any time, over anything?

Even if every individual could learn to answer all those questions, and we all held hands and lived in peace, what about people with mental illnesses? What about drug-induced violent fits? I don't see how we can ever unanimously beat all these things, and it would all have to be unanimous for anarchy to work.

However, all realism aside, I have to say, I love the theory. It's something important to have as a goal, for even if a goal is impossible in practice, the effort to reach it yields its own rewards.

life is constant in the fact that it always changes...if that makes any sense

there's no way to attempt to control it because it will find a new way to break free
