For those of you that aren't aware, steve (aka. stevus christ, stevus maximus, reach-around-steve) plays bass for both Hand Choke Neck and NeverSayNever. We scheduled the show as a joke to see if he can handle back-to-back sets. Be sure to buy him a beer if you are going, be persistent.
well shit.........any confirmations yet? what about BMR?
i don't have their contact info. if basb and otb cannot play, we should call them. any idea how much notice they need? otherwise there is a country/rock filler for the night...

We're still waiting to hear from our drummer who wont pick up the damn phone but the rest of us are good to go.
i don't have any of their contact info and i'm pretty sure I haven't seen them before. We are gettting down to the wire, so right now its a first-called first-confirmed band gets it.
most band members (besides the kok) are there.
I just went to get a coffee and got shut down at the cafe on the corner. their expresso machine is off for the night.
rough life
Of The Betrayed: this was their warm up to the next show they are playing here. since it's 2/3 the same bill. The beginning part of their set was rocky. They looked like they were enjoying themselves and all, but you couldn't here the guitars at all. After a few minutes of the rhythm guitar tweeking his set up, he sounded a lot better, but the lead guitar was non-existant. Sucked cause you could see him doing a ton of neat looking this, but you could hear none of it. Next show, I vote that the lead has a rig at least as nice as the rhythm guitarist's setup. By the last couple songs that they played, the sound guy had turned the leads up so the were boarderline feeding back and at that point it mostly balanced out the other guy.
NeverSayNever: I was outside when they started and it sounded ok. Then when I got upstairs, it was almost a punch to the face. The last time I saw them, there was a huge pantera influence hanging over every single thing they played. They have gotten so heavy and so tight. A guy from the band Dead to Waste compare them to kataklysm which I can see. if there is any justice in NH, they would be opening for exodus on may 1st.
fuckin sweet pics rev.
those green weird ones are awesome. great as usual.

Awesome pictures as usual Rev. Thanks for coming out last night! Also thanks for risking your lungs last night as well. I don't smoke either so we're pretty much in the same boat.

thanks for catching all my classiness on film. now i will have beautiful pictures to show my children one day.
Last night was a good show. Only thing I don't like about every single show we play is that people stand like 50ft back. I'll call them in but no dice. Maybe it's because we have asians in the band; the crowd proably thinks that they're going to steal their walets. I'll have to bring a lasso to the next show to rope them in.
hand choke neck: some people out there are going to hate what I'm about to say... so they played a lot of new songs that I didn't know. some of the titles were kind of emo-sounding, but if I could say one record that it sounded like they have been listening to a lot of carcass's heartwork. they slowed down the tempo of a lot of the things that they were playing. a couple places they had some sporadic melodic parts that were very carcass-y. it was funny watching hoser only be able to bang his head 3 times and then have to stop cause he was loosing his place. people moshed around a little bit, but it was more just headbanging, screaming, and howling.
to otb: i hear ya on the people not coming right up front. probably a few reasons: 1, you were new to a lot of people, so they weren't sure what to expect or whether they dug you yet. 2, it being a 21+ show, a lot of people are there to drink too. 3, you played first... combine those 3 and you generally will get few people up front. a lot of people were standing back a bit, but i assure you you had a lot of people's attention.
i think it was kickass that you guys were so quick to hop on the bill, too. definitely didn't hurt your reputation to do that on such short notice -- especially on a wednesday night.

Thanks for the very kind words nsnholmes; it really means alot to us. We had a fun so that's the most important part. People will move forward one day but until then we'll do what we do and hope for the best.
