I know people are talking about it on here but I just got this "official" press release and it contains a bit more info so figured i'd post it

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ORIGINAL SLAYER MEMBERS TO RECORD FIRST STUDIO ALBUM TOGETHER SINCE
³SEASONS
IN THE ABYSS² RICK RUBIN WILL EXEC PRODUCE
Slayer To Headline ³The Unholy Alliance Tour Preaching to the
Perverted²
with Lamb of God, Children of Bodom, Mastodon, and Thine Eyes Bleed

Los Angeles, CA Monday, March 6, 2006 -- If you think 6.6.06 is an
intimidating calendar date, just wait. The killer reunion of all time

complete with live tour dates - is about to commence.

The four original members of SLAYER Tom Araya/bass, vocals, Kerry
King/guitars, Jeff Hanneman/guitars, and Dave Lombardo/drums - the
pioneers
and undisputed kings of extreme speed/thrash metal, have entered a Los
Angeles-area studio to record what will be their first new studio album
since 1990ıs ³Seasons In The Abyss.² And if thatıs not enough,
uber-producer
Rick Rubin, who helped solidify the much-emulated Slayer sound
beginning
with their genre-defining 1986 classic ³Reign In Blood,² has taken the
helm
as executive producer of the project. The original team is back in
place.

Working closely with Rubin will be Josh Abraham (Korn, Velvet Revolver,
Atreyu) who will produce the album. ³Weıre real happy to have Josh on
the
team,² said Slayerıs Jeff Hanneman. ³Heıs a very creative and
intuitive
guy, he knows music, and he really gets who Slayer is and what weıre
doing.²
The as yet untitled album will be released on Slayerıs long-time label,
Rubinıs American Recordings/Warner Bros. Records, and is expected out
this
fall.

³Daveıs been back with us, playing live, for a couple of years now, and
weıre all looking forward to recording together again,² said the bandıs
Tom
Araya. Kerry King added, ³There really is no one like Dave he
doesnıt
have to work at what he does, he just walks in, picks up his sticks and
goes.²

Said Lombardo, ³It feels really good being back with the same guys I
started
out with. The chemistry is definitely there, thatıs the exciting part
of
it, to capture that chemistry again. And thatıs what is happening.²

Jeff, Tom and Kerry have been writing songs for this new album since
they
wrapped their last North American tour in September 2004. ³This is
probably
the most prepared weıve been to record an album since the 80s,² King
added.
³Weıve been writing and cutting demos for months.² While these may
change,
working titles for some of the songs that will be recorded include
³Catalyst,² ³Cult,² ³Supremist,² and ³Consfearacy.² ³I like to write
songs
that have different meanings for different people,² said King, ³where
everyone can say, ŒI know what he means,ı but still get their own sense
of
what the song is about.²

But wait, this just gets better. On 6.6.06 in San Diego, CA, Slayer
will
kick off a seven-week summer trek, ³The Unholy Alliance Tour
Preaching to
the Perverted,² that boasts what has got to be the genreıs coolest
line-up
of the summer Lamb of God, Mastodon and Children of Bodom (who will
rotate
the second and third slots), and Thine Eyes Bleed who will open the
shows.
Not only is the line-up terrific, but ticket prices will not exceed
$39.00,
giving fans a great value for their dollar. Tour dates and all other
details will be announced shortly. Confirmed dates are below.

According to Slayerıs long-time manager Rick Sales, ³We want to make
ŒThe
Unholy Allianceı tour an annual global event, so we decided to be smart
about the design from the beginning. We chose to book most of the
tourıs
shows at indoor venues, as that allows the bands and the fans amenities
like
air conditioning and indoor bathrooms, as well as the very best stage
lighting, production, and sound and less expensive concession prices.
The
few shows that will be played outside will be played at night in
permanent
facilities with our lighting, production, and so on. Everyone wins.²

Alliance

THE UNHOLY ALLIANCE Preaching To The Perverted:

SLAYER
In the beginning, when there were no blueprints, no set paths, no
boundaries
or steps to follow, SLAYER assaulted the world with its new hybrid of
metal
and punk. Heavier, faster and darker than the rest, Slayer set the new
standard which all others continue to follow. Slayer IS the band that
other
heavy acts are measured against, defining not only a genre but an
attitude.
For over two decades, Slayerıs onslaught of sheer brutality has proven
them
to be the supreme thrash-metal band on the planet.

LAMB OF GOD
Over the past five years, Lamb of God have firmly established
themselves as
the pre-eminent voice of the new thrash generation with their angry
and
articulate brand of extreme meta. Uncompromising, unrepentant, and
unbelievably brutal, Lamb of God make no concessions to the mainstream,
which is just the way their loyal fans love it. ³We write ugly music
for
ugly people,² explains drummer Chris Adler. ³If you know us and donıt
like
us now, you never will and we arenıt missing you.²

CHILDREN OF BODOM
³Children Of Bodom have been anticipating sharing the same stage and
many
drinks with Slayer² -- Alexi Laiho Children Of Bodom

Fronted by guitar hero Alexi Laiho, Children of Bodom are ready to pump
³perfect rock n roll fueled power metal² (Kerrang!) into the veins of
the
American audiences on the upcoming Unholy Alliance Tour. Children of
Bodom
heads out after two nearly sold-out headline tours in the US (Fall 05 &
Spring 06) with their new record Are You Dead Yet? having out sold
their
last release with a respectable 50,000 sold in just four months. This
tour
further establishes Children of Bodom as a viable force in the metal
community.

MASTODON
Atlantaıs Mastodon is currently in Seattle working on their third
full-length studio recording (and Warner Bros. Records debut) with long
time
producer Matt Bayles. The album, titled ³Blood Mountain,² is the
follow up
to the Bayles produced Levithan, which propelled Mastodon into the
critical
limelight throughout much of 2005. As critics continue to fawn over
the
band, Mastodonıslegion of fans have grown accustomed to their
accessibility
as the bandıs blue collar touring ethic has earned them constant
accolades
as a ³working manıs² band. Rare is the artist who achieves such
critical
highs, balanced with the level of fan support Mastodon has attained.
It was
for those fans that Mastodon decided to recently release ³Call of the
Mastodon,² a remixed and remastered CD collection of the bandıs
first-ever
recording session. Additionally, Mastodonıs first official DVD titled
³The
Workhorse Chronicles,² was released on February 21. The package
features
over three hours of exclusive Mastodon footage including in-depth
interviews
with each band member, candid behind-the-scenes shots from the bandıs
personal video archives, and a career spanning range of live
performances.

³Blood Mountain² is due this summer in the music marketplace.

THINE EYES BLEED
Canadian thrash/metalcore act THINE EYES BLEED has never walked away
from a
challenge as theyıve always taken it head-on. Throughout the years,
their
rigorous touring and live experiences has shaped their aggressive
vocals,
razor-sharp riffs and detonating rhythm section into a monstrous metal
assault. Theyıre ready for the next challenge that awaits them on the
ultimate summer tour package, Unholy Alliance.
