New site? Maybe some day.
anyone know how much it is to get into this shindig? |
i think i read $8 somewhere, but i'm not sure. scott lee's website is completely useless. this show should be in a civilized part of new england. |
where the fuck is cabot st?
i want to go to this SOOOOO bad
i'm leaving at 4 to go to this. |
same here
it takes like 2 and a half hours to get there from new bedford, there are like 4 local bands playing before them, |
it starts at 7.. well, doors are at 7pm.
it will be over by 11. |
i don't have tickets yet, but i doubt it will sell out. |
no thats not going to sellout. how long are the sets??? if there is only 4 hours?
it will be most likely like last night when DT got the set cut |
i don't know, but i'll be mad if green carnation doesn't get at least an hour. |
I doubt that will happen, maybe 45 if we are lucky |
I'm guessing they will get 45m to 1 hr. |
and this place isn't going to sell out. they will just pack more people in.
KSE played there last week and there was over 500 people in there. |

We have DISCOUNT tickets for sale. $10 from us or $12 at the door. I'd urge you all to save yourselves TWO DOLLARS and help Catalyst out in the process. We'll give you a free demo, provided the fucking Peruvian brings any. Call me, Ryan at (203) 494-7404 and I'll meet up with you at the place. Please and thank you. |
I was thinking about going to this. Do you think they're gonna play LodDod? |
catalyst: they were sort of tossed on this show quickly so they only got 15 minutes. They also didn't have any sound check so the vocals & kick drum were really high and the.. Well everything else was really low. I would see ryan doing things but didn't really hear anything. They are in need of a bassplayer too. the vocals reminded me of napalm death.
equilibria: they were ok. It wasn't really my style of music. granted, the lead-singer also had a pretty bitchin' keytar. a lot of the music reminded me of dream theatre mixed with the devin townsend band mixed with disrhythmia and then some killswitch engage vocals. a very wierd band sort of that whole weather channel feeling. |
Of course, fucking Green Carnation had to play on the ONE day I couldn't get out of work |
they are setting up now...
well enough alone: definitly weird to put a hardcore band on this bill. This is the first one on this bill. They haat whole "slow drumming" thing that KSE does where the drummer looks bored. Towards the end of their set, they gained more deathmetal nuances to their sound. By they end, the last song was very much like torn asunder even though it had some clean singing..
tempus mori: I've seen them once or twice before I think. I believe I said that the bassist looks like devontyag minus the girl sized pants. They were really good. The clean singing wasn't too bad and they tied it all together with an all that remains sort of sound (right when I typed that phil from all that remains walked in). |
beyond the embrace: they took a long time to set up. Mostly, it was the drums. Their new drummer is still learning. They also were missing their 3rd guitar player, but they replaced him with a harmonizer pedal. Their set was still good even with the drum fuck ups.. New bedford was in effect for their front row, but they only played one song from their in flames days. |
this was an awesome show. my nards hurteth from the awesomeness. |
I just walked in the door.
working on pictures |
great pics rev. i just woke up hungover and retarded. i need to stop drinking so much. i don't know how to solve the retarded part though. |
gene theropy.

I haven't seen in in a while.
that's a joke. |
Gene hit on my friends girlfriend even when he was present. |
Can I someone please tell Beyond the Embrace they are a terrible band and that the city of Quincy would appreciate it if they broke up. |

Man, you were hungover!? I was pretty muddle-headed this morning and I was almost drunk on the whole drive back...that was pretty stupid of me. Totally worth it though.

The show was fucking killer,
catalyst - Pretty good for a 15 min set...they def. lack a bass player
equilibria - weird, I think the singer was good until he started
rap-screaming, but other than that they had talent.
well_enough_alone & tempus_mori - Def. not my thing
BTE - they were kind of sloppy due to the new drummer, but didnt lack in the guitar department, even with one guy missing, its like he didnt even matter. They also rocked out as if they were playing front of a massive group of people, Playing a lot of songs off Insect Song, which I find to be better than the first album, but I'm friends with them, so I guess no matter what I say, it could be considered one-sided
Green Carnation - I can say, one of the best shows I have ever seen, They played every song everyone wanted to hear, they were super tight, as if the cd was spinning through the PA. and as I said with BTE, they're playing as if in front of like 1000 people, going into jam sessions, duelling solos from the bass player to the guitar player to the keyboard player, then jumping in and out of Black Sabbath songs, Led Zeplin songs and maybe a couple Jimmy licks in there as well. ABSOLUTLY OUTSTANDING.
After it was over I asked Tchort,
me - "whats it like to be in every good band?"
Tchort - "I am?"
me - " You have Green Carnation, Blood red throne, Carpathian Forest, and you were in Emporer"
Tchort - "I'm not in Slayer..."
I have been waiting a long time to ask him that...and thats what I got...hahaha
What a night...and Ken being obnoxious all night!!! hahahaha |
ha, yeah i need to lay off the booze a bit. i was a retard last night. |

oh wait...
The opening bands were terrible. The only one that had no xCOREx in it were Catalyst, who sorely lacked a bass player and were just ok. The singer looked nervous and determined to flail about so as not to appear so at any cost. That said they were a talented band, I blame the no bass player and being rushed for being kinda crappy.
Beyond The Embrace- Like Jon said, they were a little sloppy, I think the new drummer was way too rushed and as a result was a little off. Other than that, and them replacing Alex for "90 bucks and a carton of Marlboro Lights", they were great, as usual. They're a fun band to watch and contrary to the opinions of certain people, they're a great fucking band.
GREEN CARNATION- One of the best show's I've seen. They were fucking amazing! They were all smiling the whole time, the singer couldn't believe how many people knew all the lyrics. The only thing that could have made them better is if one of them hit that stupid blonde whore in the face with their instruments. I hit her with a roll of duct tape, but she was too drunk to notice. It was so satisfying to watch her pass out on her face and be carried out of the club. Anyway the band was fucking amazing, totally worth the 2 hour drive and suffering through my birl flu to see them.
And Ken is the loudest drunk ever. |
green carnation definitely put on one hell of a show. i haven't enjoyed a live set that much in a long time. i wish they could have gotten a gig closer to boston or providence so more people would have gone to see them. i had a lot of pussy friends who weren't up for driving all the way out west. they really missed out on a good show. hopefully next time, GC will play to a huge crowd. |
I definatly, for their sake, wished more people were there.
But the selfish bitch is me feels pretty good about seeing them up close and personal. ;) |
my frosted side enjoyed the up close and personal part.
my wheat side wanted the show to be more worthwhile for the band.
they seemed to be having alot of fun and enjoying the small audience, so it was cool. |
I would have went if I had a car :/ |
you have legs, you could have walked. no excuses. |
That's in the running for our (Catalyst) worst show ever. I called our bassist (yeah, we actually do have one) with the "where the FUCK were you" and the dude practically cried when I told him it was SUNDAY and not Monday. Fuckin' turd. But yeah, we normally aren't poop and you DEFINITELY won't be finding any "core" in our metal. Thanks for paying attention, though |
forgot to post this:
green carnation: ok, I think it was dredkill that said they "out opethed opeth." I really can say that is not true at all. except for damnation, opeth is completely different. they do in fact out porcupine tree porcupine tree. sort of similar in nature and sound as that band. I also thought there was a little bit of nevermore in some of the vocals and guitar work. over all it was a little more rocky. besides a few mp3s from the end I haven't really listened to them so I can't really comment on the songs that they played. I think that the singer said that one of the songs that they played was written for emperor, but I don't know. the set list is made up by the member who guesses the closet to the amount of merch the sell the night before (reports are sketchy at best weather they can go over or not, but we will assume not). they played for about an hour. a lot of the songs were long. they could have played for even longer but the acustic guitars that they would have used are still in the process of being shipped to the US. I'm pretty sure they weren't expecting the reception they got. the singer kept looking away and I couldn't tell if he was happy or not about all the people there and the participation. I'm going to get he was cause I heard (from them on stage) that the other shows on their tour weren't all that good. it was hilarious watching the guy stage left trying to step on his pedals through the head banging of the aforementioned wasted girl. |
i don't think i said they out opethed opeth, but i did have more fun at that show than both opeth shows last weekend. green carnation rules. |
you did say that before they went on. |
you did say that before they went on. |
surprisingly, i may have been drunk |
I'm drunk right now.
hence all the double posts |
super. my family was drinking today, but i couldn't look at booze after last night. |
