if your from boston it cost way to much with tickets being way over priced. gas to and from the show. parking is a scam, merchandise is way over priced. water is fuckin $3.00 and mix drinks are watered down and small, the staff is rude and the sound sux there for metal bands plus it club is fill with rich trendy kids that would go to whatever show was playing , they could care less about metal.

You are quite honestly the first person I've ever heard complain about the quality of the Worcester Palladium. Seriosuly, I've never heard anyone bitch about the Palladium before....not once in my life....you're the first

The sound usually blows at the palladium. Their door guys are usually dicks, too.

I think he was being sarcastic. As far as drinks, you have to have the system down. If you must have a mixer, order that seperately and order shots to add yourself. Get a coke drink some of it and add a shot of jack. drink a little more, go back for another shot, etc. by the end of the night your cup is almost pure jack, thus ending the watered down conundrum. of note, they will sell you a jack and coke and a shot (mixed drink and a shot) so, theoretically each visit to the bar is 2 shots for however much mixer you've got there.

I'll back that the Palladium sux. I hate it there. In fact I HATE Worcester with a passion. It's a fuckin big ol' wasteland of asshole scum inbred motherfuckers. I avoid going to shows there, if I can help it.

GET A JOB

My thoughts exactly...i drive from Haverhill...that's about 100 miles round trip....i dont bitch about it. Hell...Tommy Cooch lives in fucking Berwick, Maine and I see him at the Palladium quite often. It's not like your the ONLY person who has to drive a long distance to see a show. The other alternative is just.....dont go

i agree its to much even with a job as i think he meant working job, not a yuppie job. the sound does suck there. motorhead sound was way better in n.h. the staff are rude. with merch. a lot of that is because the promoters tag on to shit i think, people get greedy, sometime the bands have no choice or dont really know all the doings. the sound does suck there for extreme metal and any other bogus hardcore crap they have there during metal fest which has become a joke.

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Feb 3,2006 3:14pm
i do have a job, and shit i have traveled all around for shows , out of state and so forth. i have been involved in metal for over 20years. having kids and paying bills and keeping your metal lifestyle true is difficult on the wallet when you have to now pick and choose which shows you can afford to go to not because your cheap but because the club is greedy. everyone has always said the sound sucks there. that isnt anything new. once i was there and the staff fucking said i had a gun and had the police assualt me and when it was all false they didnt even fucking apoligize or even give me a free drink. very unprofessional. that i have passed on to many old school bands i have hung out with that have asked me about playing that club. it was my only really bad exp. with the staff but a lasting one. it turned out it was my cup in my pocket so i could get tab water because who can afford to pay $3.00 a water or whatever it is now all night when its so fucking hot in there. shit you can get a whole gallon of spring water for 50cents.

lota of ya dude guys out in woostah, red sox hats, shants and generic hardcore bands playing bad metal with expensive equipment.
sound at palladium blows. they never get morbid angel down right... or any other bands i love. i rather travel out of state and see band at other venue with cheaper beer and better sound. fuck parking use to be like 5 bucks now its like 10 / 15 bucks now. shit your already reamed before you walk in the door.

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Feb 3,2006 5:00pm
parking is $5 or less at that parking garage on top of the club 2 minutes away

Me too, fuck that noise. Plus it's easier to car-bar on a secluded street before the show. I used to do it during, but ya know, no re-entry now. You're trapped. You pay 25 dollars to get fisted in the ass, without a kiss or a dime sized portion of lube.

toggletoggle post by menstrual_sweatpants_disco   at Feb 4,2006 1:07pm
The highlight of the no re-entry policy for me was when we were playing that Suffocation/Mastadon show downstairs and I wanted to load some gear out but they said I couldn't get back in if I left. Haha.

toggletoggle post by menstrual_sweatpants_disco   at Feb 4,2006 1:09pm
Oh yeah, they wouldn't let us video tape our own set for that show either. I guess we probably had to get permission from ourselves first.

The sound was pretty fucking good that day, though, for a change.

toggletoggle post by Midgetstealer at Feb 4,2006 1:30pm
Wow just hate on worcester the palladium may suck but dont be trashing the people who live here.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Feb 4,2006 3:04pm
simple solution: if you don't like it, don't go.

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Feb 4,2006 3:14pm
i always got this vision of what i think metal shows are like. i see old celtic frost and venom videos and im like fuckin metal was cool. then i go to the palladium and i get bummed out big time... i guess i was born to late. jock bouncers bite. i cant even afford a shirt of my favorite bands and then they charge me for water after i just payed 20 bucks to get in the lousy place. cant even smoke anymore. ill sit at home spend my money on beer watch old vids without getting hasseled and smoke all i want . i wish things could be how i see them from the old days of extreme metal. its all guys now that were listening to limp biscut and slipnot now . bring back old shit.

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Feb 4,2006 11:17pm
When were there ever cool bouncers?

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 4,2006 11:57pm
I like a lot of the palladium bouncers. just think how wonder for a job it is to constantly deal with you assholes when you are drunk, fight, rolling over the barricade, etc.

and anthony & james from the met cafe were two of the coolest bouncers ever. the reason is cause they liked the music and cared about the place.

and I just witnessed some of the patrans of the palladium at their "best".
but after 15 minutes of their drunken screaming, the cops came

remember that hatebreed show in Dember of '04? there was a huge fight right in the parking lot, I was watching and trying to get decent pics as I was also attempting to get my car out of there.

hypocrisy , nile show was cool but a lot of the shit that is said here about the palladium are true. sound fuckin blows. driving out from boston blew. sound fuckin blew did i already say that. and there were the regular crowd in the back by the bar at the end of the night of drunk losers thinking they were cool but that could be any show. keep to headbanging and leave the moshing for hardcore shows.

driving out from Boston to Worcester blows? you're a real trooper.

I drove from Maine to the ICC in Allston last night, almost hydroplaned like 5 times on the way home, and, oh man, had to wait for about 4 minutes at the Burger King drive-thru in Saugus before I hit 95.

Everyone complaining about the Palladium better hit up Vader and Nuclear Assault in Boston. Robin busted his ass to get it here.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Feb 5,2006 12:43pm
i always read about people in other states in the midwest and west driving four hours to see shows because the tours never come closer. driving 45 minutes from boston to worcester really isn't bad.

^ exactly.

yea it is i rather drive anywhere but worchester. someone should just dirty bomb that city and get it over with. sucks they made hypocrisy cut their set early. what a bunch of 2nd rate metal heads and metalcore neo hardcore types moshing too.

Yea, it's pretty easy to find a spot, I'd agree with you. Then when you get out of the show you got a nice big pile of glass next to your car because someone helped themselves to your cds, stereo, pot, and anything else of value.

the neverending flow of hate for worcester....the palladium used to be the place to be in worcester. the sound was awesome, the atmosphere was awesome, but now everything is so half assed. the door guys act like they are bouncing for Hollywood, and the whole place just reeks of staleness. bastards.

toggletoggle post by Josh_Martin at Feb 6,2006 11:22am

Fuck big-business metal. It needs to die.

palladium bleeds you dry. no metal atomosphere there. smaller shows in boston have been a blast. deceased, gbk, abhorred, abzagararoth (sp) nachtmystium anyways. shits beat out past 128, i dont go anymore to that place. the days of it being cool out there are long gone. thank their own staff for that.

and the rules suck.

It is the only place to see somewhat big metal acts, want to see european bands play in America, then you have to go to worcestor.

They should build a new venue in southern New Hampshire and have it big enough for festivals but small enough to keep the nice metal atmosphere, I will never go to a venue bigger than the palladium unless if it was something like blodstock, prog power, or wacken.

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Feb 7,2006 7:17pm
southern n.h. could be cool. im from boston and i like that idea better than worchester. anywhere but shithole worchester. i have never had any fun in that place.

toggletoggle post by BobNOMAAMRooney nli at Feb 7,2006 7:23pm
90% of the "big european acts" at the Palladium are power metal bands in pirate shirts. YAWN
