words from my asshole blabbermouth alter-ego, HARLOTCOMMANDER

My take on the new In Flames:
"If In Flames were a horse, it would have taken out to the field and shot long ago. Probably in '98. This band has become a mockery of its former self - something akin to a second rate "New Wave of Swedish Killswitch Engage Regressionist Clones". Seriously - doesn't Killswitch have a song called "Take This Life"? I actually remember when Killswitch was influenced by In Flames - not the other way around. This band ceased to merit my attention after Colony - and then there's Clayman ("Pinball Map" - need I say more?) and Soundtrack to your Homoerotic Massage (self-explanatory)... This CD evidences their evolution into complacent mediocrity - which in contemporary American "metal" vernacular translates to "It will sell like hotcakes to assholes with shitty haircuts". Fuck these clowns."

and on the Brokeback Mountaineers known as Opeth fans:

"As much as I love seeing Opeth...
... I fucking HATE seeing Opeth. As consistently amazing as they are live, I'd almost rather watch my Lamentations or Worcester '00 DVDs.

Why???

Fucking Opeth fans. Since seeing their first show in the US at Milwaukee Metalfest (when it was actually worthwhile, if some of you can remember back that far) to the sad present, their fans have come to both disgust and shame me. On two separate occasions have I heard some lovelorn faggotass superfan yell some shit like "I love you Mikael." When my girlfriend took me to see them in Boston on the "mellow" tour, I was almost embarassed by the shit coming out of these basement-dwelling douchebags' faces in between songs. And while I've come to grips with the fact that I haven't exactly chosen the most handsome genre of music to invest myself in, but fuck my mouth if that last Worcester show wasn't the UGLIEST crowd I've ever fucking seen! Fuck you, Opeth fans."

that's pretty funny.

funny, true.
well, 1/2 true.

in flames is not influenced by korn/slipknot and it happened after they turned with slipknot. also, it seems like they some how got their hands on a commador 64 or Vic20 to do the synth programming.

Opeth fans are terrible cause they are either
1) pimply band nereds
2) force-feed opeth last time they were in hot topic.
on a related note, I think 2006 will be known for all the "opeth-core" bands that spring up. go ahead, prove me wrong.

This is what happens to any band that becomes famous, and it has been that way since rock music started.

I feel your pain though
