Even though I've heard them countless times, each time I put in an AIC album it blows me away like I was just hearing it for the first time. Hands down the best rock band of the 90s, imo.

Everytime I listen to 'Dirt', I want to kill myself before it's halfway through. Appreciated.

It's easy to get burned out on AIC just because songs like "Rooster" are soooo overplayed. If you get 'Dirt' or the self-titled and just listen the whole way through, it's easier to appreciate how genius these guys were.

I've heard the records enough. My brother had all of them.

Never much got into Alice In Chains, but I do appreciate everything they did for the "grunge scene". They were the only band in seattle to have songs with solos with more than 3 or 4 notes. But nonetheless, I was always more partial to Nirvana's noise rock/punk spirit approach to that kinda music. Just connected with it easier.

They were a pretty good metal band, when they went along with the watered down grunge thing, they got as bad as all the mainstream rock of the time. Facelift has some good songs, Dirt is excellent, the rest is pretty much crap.

One of my all time favorite bands. Whenever I feel like shit I put on Dirt and am reminded that there's always someone else out there who's got worse shit to deal with.

One of my co-workers is the photographer for Nutshell, the alice in chains tribute band. We might actually play with these dudes at some point cause she wants us to all be in the same room for hang out. Want on if we do?

Play with an AiC cover band and TTOS? If it's in a good venue on a good night, sure, that would be awesome.

My mother ruined Alice in Chains for me. It's her favorite band and that's the only band she ever listens to. I get so annoyed. But I will say, my 2 favorite songs are "Man In The Box" and "Rooster".

I threw AiC's "Dirt" on whilst shovelling snow this weekend and it was still very good, despite all the singles being overplayed over the years. Great album, I love the "feel" it creates.

The best AiC songs like "We Die Young", or "Sunshine", are the one's you won't hear on the radio.

How is the new vocalist? Haven't heard jack squat with anything he's done with AiC.

One of my all time favorites ever since I was a wee lad. To think I was listening to songs about being addicted to smack at 12 and not really realizing it. I refuse to listen to them with that new singer. Its not the same band.

I have heard we die young on the radio more then a few times..it was a single, so its def played on the air.

i was impressed when i saw them with the new guy and i'm a die hard fan. i think layne would want them to continue instead of just letting the project go.

I don't really listen to the radio, so that may be true. However, anytime I heard any AiC on the radio, it would be "The Rooster", "Would", "Down in a Hole", "Man in the box", "Them Bones", and stuff off the three-legged dog album. Can't say I've ever heard "We Die Young" played, but either way, it's a killer song.

I hope he does drugs.
It would only make sense if he did in order to replace Layne.

+1, I've had this discussion with so many people since William DuVall joined a couple years ago. Seeing as Jerry wrote the overwhelming majority of the music and lyrics for the band, and did his own fair share of lead vocals, it makes sense that they would continue with someone else. No disrespect to Layne, but I think it's foolish to think that they shouldn't go on due to mistakes that Layne made. I've seen fan-filmed videos of them with DuVall and he sounds great. Supposedly they're making a new album, should be interesting.

his "singing" def. reflects this affliction, unbelievably his live performances were worse than studio.

AIC is one of those bands that everyone I knew liked. So, it was on all the time and I guess I never took much time to appreciate it until a couple years ago. That's what's great about music. You can change but the music stays the same.

I highly doubt I'll be saying, "those Smashing Pumpkins destroy" ever. Quote me on that.

Alice in Chainz (late 80s) covered Slayer songs. Would have been very interesting to see that live.

Best rock band of the 90's for sure. Still one of my favorite bands.

Layne Staley is my favorite rock singer... period. I've never been moved by any vocal performances like I am when I listen to him. He's not just singing about pain and depression and addiction... he's living it, and you can feel it quite vividly when he's singing.

Cantrell fucking kills too. I rip him off everytime I play a solo.

"Dirt" is my favorite, w/ "Jar of Flies" being a close second.

Not a huge fan of "Facelift", but that has more to do with the production (being on the cusp of the 80's and all), than the songs themselves.

Also, again, fuck that new dude that they toured with. They literally played right around the corner from my apartment, and I didn't go. If it were just the 3 surviving members with Cantrell singing all the parts, I would've been in the front row, but replacing Layne with some hack that is better suited for the local bar's cover band, is crap.

I feel like the minority here, but I never could get into that recording. Every Nirvana fan that I know holds that if very high regards, but to me, unplugged just doesn't work for them.

Dirt is an almost perfect album for me, with 'sick man' being the only semi-weak track (although even that track isn't BAD, it's just kind of meh to me compared to the rest.)

I think Sick Man is soley there for the "heavy" filler track. Weakest one, agreed.
