That one Ottawa powerplay where he blocked two shots, caught a rebound, and cleared the zone. Giving his stick to Tanabe so he could clear the puck. The guy was playing great hockey.

the new players were good last night, but i'd still fire o'connell. he's bad for the franchise.

I would have rathered seen them tank the season and ship some cogs off for prospects, get the #1 pick (a year too late) and kind of start over. Thornton never should have been the captain, but that's not his fault. He's one of the five best players in the league and should have gotten us much more. Don't get me wrong, I love Stuart and Sturm, great players and I like having them on the team, but not for Thornton. Primeau does nothing for me.

I love Samsonov, but he's probably next. He's small and injury prone, so I guess it is what it is.

All I know is hopefully Bergeron takes this opportunity and becomes a star, which I think he will be. I love Raycroft, but Hannu has been solid, and one of them will eventually need to go. Either one could get us A LOT in return.

But I don't care if Thornton lacked the fire everyone wanted out of him, a lot of other guys are in the same boat, and he had carried the team for so long. Seeing him in San Jose was sad. He looked like he was just going through the motions and wanted to cry. You could tell he wants to be here. I still hate this...

if anything the trade got more people interested in the team. not saying thats why oconnel did it, but it sure as hell worked if he did.
