oh man. The booking guy asked us to play, but this seems bizarre. I wonder if the dress code is enforced on show nights??

oh man

so we went up on stage and set up. the guy explained that the management didn't want things to be too loud so we need keep the guitars at a minimum of sound and he'd mic them through the PA mixer so he could adjust them if the manager wanted him to. We then got THE weakest monitor signal imaginable....so thusly I could NOT hear the guitar nor could anyone else in my band. We then turned up my stuff a tad and the guy got upset with us and said it is now way too loud (uh...huh?). We said "Listen, there is no point in me even being here if I can't hear myself. How can I play?" he said "Well we can hear you fine out here" to which I replied "Yes but that does me absolutely no good."

I suggested that I just run my amps as usual and if it's too loud I'll gladly turn it down, but that was rejected. We then went to play Grasshopper and I Couldn't here a fucking thing out of my amps. I then moved out into the audience while I played and STILL couldn't hear anything coming out of the PA that was significant. Essentially there was no guitar for anyone, I don't know what the dude meant.

I took my guitar off and started doing the guitar lines with my mouth. I then jumped off the stage and started running around like a fool while Rowan and Alex continued, somewhat jestingly. Next I grabbed a Pringle's can and started screaming into it and headbanging like Henry Rollins. Rowan tossed me his mic and we finished the song with me humming the guitar lines. I then said "Thanks a lot we're the taste of silver". Total set time? About 6 minutes.

beautiful.
