List the bands that you've never seen before, but would have loved to if you had the chance. And I'm referring to those bands that are either split up and done with or just wimped out so there's no point in seeing them anymore.
My list is:
Venom, anytime around 1981-1984 - i was either a sperm or a fetus during this era of Venom's career. Eventually they turned kinda crappy and even still, I was too young to really be into metal, so i missed out.
The Misfits - obviously i'm referring to the danzig era. again, i wasn't even a thought in anyone's head during this time. I know the misfits are still around, but they blow ass now, and doyle jams a few tunes on stage with danzig every now and then, but it'll never be the same.
Metallica, anytime between 1984-1989 - metallica's best work (actually, their only good work!) came during these 5 years and i was too young to even know about it! i could still go see metallica play today, but why bother?
Pantera - one of the very best metal bands in the 1990's, and i started getting into metal just a little too late to see them play. shame. |
|
Death- I couldn't get a ride to see em at Red Square in Saugus, and i've been killing myself ever since.
Exhorder- the ultimate injustice in my life is that i'll never see these guys |
|
oh yeah, and GG Allin, DK, and every early 80's DC hardcore band on Dischord |
|
acid bath - stupid goddamn drunk driving cocksuckers |
|

The Misfits, Death, Metal Church w/ David Wayne, Agony Column, Deep Purple w/Ritchie Blackmoor, Sabbath w/Dio or Tony Martin, At The Gates, Twisted Sister...there is an ednless array of bands...I guess it's no good to dwell on the past |
|
I saw Twisted Sister.
and they played "The Price."
and it was good. |
|
Did they play "Hot Love"? that song is hilarious |
|
well i would have said Shai Hulud, but im going to see their reunion tonite! and definitely Death, oh man thatd be sweet. |
|
Uriah Heep, DK, Bauhaus, the MC5, Jesus & Mary Chain, Looking glass, Stepen Wolf,Bathory, sisters of mercy, fields of the nephlim, Celtic frost,13 floor elevators, and DUST, bitch |

Metallica pre-suck
Faith no More (as I'm now reminded of them.)
Carcass, Obituary and Cannibal Corpse, in the early nineties
Disrupt
Brutal Truth
Wesley Willis (I had to fucking work third shift the night he played the Middle East, and my roommate offered my bed to his tour manager for Wesley to sleep in. *shudder*)
GG
Nine Shocks Terror - my own fault, due to me being lazy and stupid
Spazz
Emperor
And, to ensure maximum "gay" comments,
At the Gates. Oh, yes.
|
|
Death, Carcass, At The Gates, DEFINATELY Acid Bath (I went to The Ratt the night BEFORE they played, DAMMIT), Anthrax and Metallica back in the day, theres a lot of bands...I don't want to think about it, I'll get depressed.
And yes, DOWN did tour, I saw them four times. They'll tour again, don't miss it, they kill live. |
|
you know it's kind of gratifying reading through this thread and seeing bands others missed that you didn't. almost makes up for remembering the bands you didn't see. |
|
i think most of mine have been said, so i'm just gonna copy and paste them in the order they were posted.

as for bands that weren't listed yet, The Stooges, Terrorizer...fuck i'm drawing a blank here... |
|
I got to see Repulsion's reunion in Milwaukee, I fucking savored that shit. One of their moms was in the crowd, she was like 100 years old jumping up and down with a cigarette screaming "YOU PLAY FAST!!!" and "GO!! GO!!" over and over again. It was possibly the coolest thing I've ever seen in my life.
G'n'R is a good one. I'll add that to my list. |
|
voivod
celtic frost
thin lizzy
acid bath
emperor

They reunited in 2001, and even did a Metallica tribute song for a comp. cd. Then Ron Rinehart (vocalist Leave Scars and Time Does Not Heal) broke his back in a motorcylce accident and they had to shelve the reunion. They even played a couple shows in CA.

i would have loved to see iced earth with matt barlow at the mic. i think that since they have tim owens that it wouldn't be as great to see them now, but that may be a biased opinion since i haven't really listened to the new Iced Earth CD, and to how owens fits in the band. matt barlow is one of my personal favorite heavy metal singers ever, the man was incredible. |

you know, i've never listened to atheist before - i noticed that their albums were re-issued recently, i always seem to look at them, but never pick one up....maybe it's the whole "jazz/death metal" thing about them; i mean i like some technical stuff, but usually it sounds too show-offy to me, like playing technical for its own sake, which if the feeling i got from some of Death's albums....i don't know - any suggestions? |

A friend of mine just got back from trying out for Verbal Abuse on guitar, and they all got in a huge screaming fight over playing that song. (Apparently all they do all day is shoot heroin until almost dead, do some meth to wake up, and repeat. They wouldn't tell him where the bus station was, he had to sneak away. Technically, he's still in the band. Heh.) |

with all the fucking people who want to see At the Gates, You'd think they'd smarten the fuck up and get back together for a tour. I can't even imagine how much money they'd stand to make off the metalcore kids. Sure they're faggots, but that wouldn't stop me from taking their money. |
|
I'm just glad that I actually SAW At The Gates
and Dissection better do a North American Church Burning tour once their album comes out |

At The Gates WILL reunite. They have to. Because I said so. |

uh oh, i was at this show. i even got pics from that show. looooong time ago. those guys at that time were kinda wacky. I remember the bassist at that show was having a hard time keeping up with the band. it was kinda sad.
Demolition Hammer & Believer, Farmington, CT 1990. I missed that show but saw video footage of it and i really wish i was there even though i was a little kid at that time.
Nuclear Assault back in 1989 would have been cool as well. They always had a cross over audience back in those days. I was too young...
Atheist back in 1993 in CT, missed it and I was looking forward to it I remember.
Cynic back in 1994, missed the show because my ride never showed up. so mad. |
