This time of year is always very difficult for people in transition throughout New England. The weather can be pummeling, the ground isn't very welcoming, and it can be hard to have any privacy with all of the tourists and visitors in every nook and cranny.

The Pine Street Inn has been a place that has reached out to those in need in our fair region time after time and provided a clean, secure place for people to get their feet on the ground. PSI isn't a final answer, but rather a helping hand on the path to a solution and a new life.

For the cost of a CD, Record, meal at McDonald's, or a case of Fresca you can help someone in transition, perhaps with a family, regain their dignity and some hope.

Online Donations:

Volunteers and donors make all the difference in the lives of the men and women who come to Pine Street Inn. Your generosity helps the inn provide health care, meals, and job training as well as short- and long-term shelter for guests. Your giving makes it possible for Pine Street to be more than a homeless shelter: It is a place where guests can renew and rebuild their lives.

If you wish to mail your contribution to the inn, please use the following address:
Development Office
Pine Street Inn
444 Harrison Avenue
Boston, MA 02118

thanks and I hope some of you can find it in your hearts to help out. If you are in a financially hard time yourself, perhaps you can volunteer your time at the Inn!

also, as an alternative, you can help out with Food Not Bombs. Food Not Bombs is a volunteer based activity where people, without provocation or endorsement, gather and hand out leftover food for free in public spaces. This gives everyone a chance to feel equal regardless of occupation or caste in life. Everyone gets to eat. These meals are all vegetarian and often vegan as to avoid contamination problems but also allow for a peaceful existence.

Help with your local Food Not Bombs meal, soup kitchen, or community meal -- or do your own. It can make all the difference in the world.
