New site? Maybe some day.

I finally scraped together a clip of the powermetal stuff I've been working on.
I did all the guitars, drums, and bass. The two shredding solos towards the end is my freind Darren Pierce.

I'm looking for anyone who's seriously interested in laying some tracks down for this project, and possible rehearse and gig periodically once there's enough material. I'm going to try to put out an album next year sometime. The bass position is filled, I believe, but any other instruments interested should contact me at petefrommasscore@hotmail.com . Singing ability is a plus, as there's going to be some heavy harmonies involved.
Also, Beards are a plus, especially if you're short and look like a dwarf. |
hah yes! that's fuckin badass pete. good luck finding someone to lay down vocal tracks for this, don't them do it if they suck completely! Get the singer of Primal Fear somehow!
Give us specs on what gear/software you used to record this.....wooooord! |

awesome, Pete you should have at least one part where there are like 18 vocal tracks *cough* Blind guardian *cough*. |
nice...I love that middle piece where it opens up for the bass to move around a little...reminds me of Pain of Salvation a little |
a little...I said "a little" twice

Actually, the whole thing is like that. The part in the middle with the harmonies is actually the vocal arrangement.

I'm going to be handling the vocals myself for the most part. I got Chris from Encrimson'd to agree to lay down some of his classic peasant yells, and I'll be doing all the clean stuff. I love blind guardian, helloween, and savatage, so that should give you an idea what they'll sound like.
Specs:
Tracking + Mixing: Sonar 4.1
Mastering: Soundforge 7
Drums: Drumkit from Hell 2
Guitars: Line 6 guitarport (2.5), I use the soldano head exclusively, the rest sound like junk.
Effects: The sonitus eq's and compression that comes with Sonar, and the PSP vintage warmer. If you only have $100 to spend, get the PSP. It's fucking amazing, makes whatever you pump through it sound more warm and analogue.
Bass: I have a BassPod, but I actually just ran this through the guitarport and put the vintage warmer on it.

The next tune I'm working on is a cover song.
I won't say which, but I'll give a hint. "Down by the lake, there's a shadow of grief. Dancing hand in hand with the devil, devil, devil, devil..."
yeah man, this is awesome |
Ok, if you're covering King Diamond songs, I want in. |
If it's not too much of a hassle, I could do guitar 2, but my amp isn't the most metal set up at the moment. |
I saw it first, Pat.
Remember Havok? That died fast... |
I didn't even notice your post above mine. Damn you!!! Are you selling any poweramps any time soon? |
Yea, I might be selling the rocktron one i got, I think it's the same one you tried the JMP through awhile back. I gotta see if I sell my Jackson first, and when I do all my back taxes I should get a good amount of money and then i'm gonna buy a mesa one. |

i definitely agree with you there. pain of salvation was one of my favorite bands until gildenlow got too pretentious for his own good and started making overblow, self-worshipping shit like the live acoustic album and be.
i'm glad to see another power metal band in the area. there aren't enough. |
I never heard Pain of Salvation, but am interested in checking it out. Any suggestions on albums I should look for?
Eli: Yeah, I'm doing guitar tracking on The Lake right now. The rest of the tunes will be a lot more Helloween/Blind Guardian/Falconer, but I just had to throw in the King Diamond tune. Darren's guitar style is very similar to Andy Laroque, and we've always jammed tunes like At the Graves and Sleepless Nights with me singing, and I've always wanted to record something so I can try to get all the vocal harmonies going. Of course, that's why I ended up picking the song with no vocal harmonies ... lol

Pain of Salvation albums that I have and enjoy:

Holy poop. I just got both of those albums last night. These guys are awesome. I got BE too, but it's not as good.
Another few I've gotten into lately:
Edguy
Metallium
Olympos Mons
Demons & Wizards |
I just saw Edguy open for Hammerfall a few months ago, they were awesome. |

remedy lane is my favorite. i love the perfect element and entropia too. one hour by the concrete lake is good, but not as good as the others in my opinion. BE is fucking terrible, but it has its moments of brilliance when daniel gildenlow isn't drowning it with his pretentious self love. the acoustic live album sucks for the most part too, especially in parts when gildenlow has someone else sing lead so he can do his wanky background vocals and show off his range. i really hope they return to good songwriting on their next album. |
HELL YEAH! I'll do this, I've been looking for a power metal band! I can do rhythm guitars and backing vox. for a drummer, find this kid Anthony (TSectPathogen on this board) he's freaking retarded behind the kit! |
you should get chris from powerglove to contribute. he's awesome. |
back in high school like 6 years ago, me and my friend Johnny would drive around blasting King Diamond especially the Lake becuase of that great laugh he does in it |

aw shit, all the guys from powerglove are great! |
i just wanna play ANYTHING on that king diamond song |
That laugh in "The lake" is the part I'm having the most difficulty doing. It's so sinister and insane, but when I do it I just sound like a little girl.

After I do vocals, I plan on going back and re-recording guitars. Wanna do one of the rythm tracks? What do you use for gear? |
i'm calling you now peter. |
I wish i was not in so many bands, id want in this too, drums, guitars, whatever, this is sheerly brilliant!
...Gemini |
So, what ever happened to this? |
Dude, this is pretty fucking good. I'd do some session shit with you or even play live... |
need a bagpiper for an intro or something? |
dude this is pretty bad ass shows must happen!!! |
i'm working lots of nights and havn't talked to mistah arrowhead about this. i motion for a session before the end of the year... |
Hell, if an actual band practiced, I could try vocals. Hitting the notes isn't the issue. It's how I sound (never heard myself hit notes in a high range played back in a recording) |
This is still happening, but writing is a bit slow right now. Pillory is practicing more again, work is busy, and I ran out of weed.
For the people who have expressed interest, I'd really like to be able to give everyone (who can pull it off, of course) a chance to get in on the tracking process. I'm going to stick to one bassist and one drummer on the recordings, but there's room for tons of guitars, vocals, and keys. |

I was looking into renting/borrowing some amps for final guitar tracking. I have the same problem. Right now all I have is a guitarport, I don't even have an amp. |
This sounds interesting, I havent' really been satisfied by any power metal bands from this area so I wish you guys the best!
ExAgenda was talking about doing a power metal band in the near future as a side project. I assume we'd let Megan sing and Brian and I would do guitars, etc. I must have hundreds of power metal riffs backed up that I've never gotten to use. |
YEAH! I was working on my search for vocalists and tried a longshot. I emailed marc lopes, the guy who sang in Hammersmyth, Sleeping Giant, and current singer of Trigger Effect. (www.myspace.com/triggereffect). One of the best singers I've heard. He just emailed back that he'd be interested, so I'm a lot less worried about finding a vocalist now. |
yo, I was digging that. If I weren't so caught up with 3 Headed Monster and Mortencia right now I'd think about auditioning. Once you get your shit together give us a hollar
http://myspace.com/3HeadedMonster
my email is CKess316@hotmail.com. We should do some shows together |
Feel free to give me a heads up for anything. |
