Hey, I'm suprised you went to this show. I'm glad to see I'm not the only loser who loves Megadeth and Nevermore...and Symphony X and Dream Theater...but thats just between us.

Yea, we got there and Nevermore already started...I was like...NO!!!! But I got to hear River Dragon so all was well.

The only bands that sucked were Dry Kill Logic, Life of Agony, and Fear Factory. DEP was cool...not their type of show. I was like one of the 5 people there who had seen them before.

Symphony X had rotten sound and the sound board eventually "cut out" and shortened their set. They were still really good though and definately got the best 2nd stage reaction.

Dream Theater was...okay. They're the same everytime I see them. They keep playing their new crap instead of sticking to scenes from a memory and images and words like they should.

Megadeth...well, I can't give an unbiased view about Megadeth since you've been so great...but they've been Megadeth... (aka I'm gay for Megadeth and were awesome...with pyro...weird)

The arena was pretty empty. If it were at the Palladium or something then there'd be absolutely no room, so I was kind of thankful for the arm space. Sucked that I was stuck in the seats. Jeff Loomis was standing like 3 feet from me and I tried to get his attension but some security guard who looked a lot like a girl who used to go to school with me (aka fat and ugly) told me to sit down or leave and that he didn't want to be bothered. She must go home to a lonely bed at night. (I do too, but at least I'm not a bitch...most of the time)

Since I went for free I can't say too much bad about this show. It was VERY rushed, and it felt a little disorganized at times. Security were dicks as always. I wouldn't have had Nevermore open the show...they're way beyond that. 2nd stage acts should have opened since they absolutely blew (I missed Bobaflex so I don't have any clue who they are or what they sound like nor do I really care because their name is so obsenely weak) except for Sympohny X. Fear Factory is just lame, Nevermore was awesome, Dillinger was...Dillinger, Dream Theater was decent, and Megadeth ruled...that is my opinion and you're gay for thinking differently...but I'll defend to the death your right to think that way

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 21,2005 1:28am
fear factory did not suck.

toggletoggle post by kessaris V2.0 at Aug 21,2005 1:29am
Fear Factory is lame...sorry, my opinion over everything...or something...like that...I love...carpet

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 21,2005 1:30am
dillinger escape plan: their sound was awesome. Atleast from the front. greg (singer) grabbed a cymbol and started hitting it to the music and smashing it. They played sunshine the werewolf and then just walked of stage. Why do they always seem so unhappy to be playing.

symphony x: they came out and sang songs that were somehow power metal even though I didn't here the word dragon once. They ended their set wicked abruptly and just stood around on stage for the last 5 minutes of their set... No clue why.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 21,2005 1:31am

fear factory: played a teaser of walk... gr... They ended with republica (some day they will play zero signal and pisschrist for me). After a couple CDs that disappointed me, the new stuff sound really hard. I'm not sure were he was but someone played records scratching from some where. the thing that impressed me a lot is that the singer was actually watching the other bands. Plus 10 points there.

life of agony: for such a big time band, it's amazing how much I don't like them. I'm not a fan of clutch or stone temple pilots either so... That would probably do it. I'm not sure why the are so "historic", but I never got into any of their CDS. oh, They have a new CD coming out and played a track off of it. Its also interesting to note that a lot of newer bands definitly copy the sound that I heard coming from LOA.

toggletoggle post by kessaris V2.0 at Aug 21,2005 1:34am
it's because their sound got cut...no one told them that they'd have to cut their set short, so they played 3 full songs (and that was supposed to be it) but they kept going, so they pulled the plug and made it look like an accident. At least thats what it looked like to me, since the sound board was completely off...and then just magically turned back on moments later...I was like 20 feet from the sound board for the 2nd stage

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 21,2005 1:34am
you obviously are under 25.
ff was the bomb with the first few discs.
I grew up on that and sepultura... oopies.

toggletoggle post by kessaris V2.0 at Aug 21,2005 1:37am
I like seplatura, and I know FF was big back then because I remember them...I just never liked them...I didn't mean to rag on you, I just wanted to get it out there

toggletoggle post by kessaris V2.0 at Aug 21,2005 1:37am
sepultura...damn my lifestyle of destroying my mind...

toggletoggle post by kessaris V2.0 at Aug 21,2005 1:38am

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 21,2005 1:41am
I will say the middle ff CDs were all "jump the fuck up" and sucked. concrete was pretty good.
the new track sounded almost martyr good.

toggletoggle post by Cecchini   at Aug 21,2005 1:45am
Me and Kessaris trying to get Jeff Loomis' attention only to fail was so sad and traumatic.

Here is my opinion on the night...

Nevermore: Due to the fact that there was all this misinformation going around about when the show was supposed to start, we missed the first 10 minutes of Nevermore which greatly aggravated me. But we heard the last chunk of their set and it was awesome because they are awesome.

Dry Kill Logic: This band sucks. They also were the first band of the night to bust out the "get a cheap pop from the crowd" move by mentioning Dimebag. The best thing Dry Kill Logic did that night was their bass player walking by me and me yelling 'Dry Kill Logic sucks!!'.

Dillinger Escape Plan: I just don't care for this band. They aren't bad, I just ain't into them. Either way, they were a bit to out of place for this show.

Symphony X: They were awesome. The sound on the 2nd stage sucked but it started to get better halfway through their set. Around what was supposed to be like their last song or 2nd to last song the power on the sound board just blew out and they were left with nothing to do. They made the best of it as the drummer played a bunch of little drum solo spots and they took it all in stride.

Fear Factory: I like Fear Factory, despite the fact that a majority of their songs are pretty much just rehashes of each other. They played Edgecrusher and Archetype which are sweet, and their new song isn't bad either. They were the 2nd and last band to pull the "cheap pop from the crowd" move by playing a bit of "Walk" by Pantera.

Life of Agony: This band is horrilbe... HORRIBLE!! HORRIBLE!! I fuckin loathe this piece of shit cum guzzling anul sucking shit band. Seriously, fuckin generic butt rock sang by a guy who is either Kenny Lang or looks exactly him and tries to move like Scott Weiland. Some meatstick behind me who thought he knew everything kept talking about how good Life of Agony was to which I responded with plenty of comments how queer they are. Highlight of their set was me yelling "DIE!!!!" during a quiet moment and then them actually dieing... ok so they didn't die but tomorow is a new day.

I went to go take a piss a bit later in the night and Life of Agony was at a table signing shit and some man-grunt that works for them came up with free CDs from them trying to give them to me so I reminded him of how much that band sucked and continued on my piss journey.

Dream Theater: When they played old stuff, it was awesome. When they played new stuff, it was gay. They ended on old stuff, so thus, they ended awesome.

Megadeth: Wicked wicked wicked good. Thats all there is to it.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 21,2005 1:54am
nevermore: I'm not a fan of their CDs, but live they are awesome. I'm always in awe of how good the guitarist and bassplayer is... and then how much I don't care about it when it gets laid down on tape. I must say that their new redo CD is my fav so far (besides a few random tracks).

dry kill logic: yeah... I'm not a fan. they put on an energic performance though. they were wicked pissed about that guy who was on the stage talking and taking so long... geez...

some other bands reviewed above....

LOA: the best thing about their set was johny cash at the beginning. that ruled.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 21,2005 1:59am edited Aug 21,2005 2:01am
dream theater: I eally really like the live tracks from this band. they are like old school songs my dad forced me to listen to that are just dug deep into my head. their new stuff is ok... but anything that they do that is just plain dripping of the 70's reminds me of long rides with the fam when I was under the age of alternative music. an hour and a half was a little much... they shouldn't be allowed to play that long unless the entire crowd is sitting down. when they came out, every one in the band looked way too young to be the same band. I mean who are the original members.. or is that member? the singer? the new stuff they played sounds ok.
BTW, I'm almost 100% that their whole set was faked. WTF was that when that song just cut out? I couldn't see the stage, but all the sound cut out like the power to the stage was cut and their play along CD turned off.
anyone?

toggletoggle post by Cecchini   at Aug 21,2005 2:06am edited Aug 21,2005 2:09am
Ohh yea, I forgot about that. I think it was just a fart in the speakers or something. The fact that they didnt even realise it means they could probably still hear themselves in the monitors and didn't realise nothing went wrong. If they were playing along they probably woulda freaked that their CD cut out. lol

Also towards the end of their set Petrucci made a mistake during As I Am or whatever that queer song is called that def wouldn't be on a CD. lol

And while I'm at it. The singer for Life of Agony should've eaten a banana just so he could've looked even more gay.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 21,2005 2:15am
megadeth: holy fuck... that's seriously all I can say. they were amazing. I've been a fan since like 7th grade, watching the videos on MTV and I couldn't believe that they played that well and looked that good (much better than vince neil looks). I can't believe dave's face isnt all dripping off his face. EVERY song they played was a classic. I was only in the front for 15 minutes and then packed up my stuff (another 5 minutes) and then walked out.. but I was freaking happy for those 20 minutes. their set started off and I was trying to get a good shot of their "fire" like a torch that was in the back and then *BANG* I was rushed with a wave of hot air. they had FUCKING PYROS. it was amazing. all I could think about was the IED's of the legends in iraq. I was almost put out of commision by the first one. after that I was ready for them and snapped them up. it was awesome. yeah!

toggletoggle post by DaveSTF   at Aug 21,2005 3:10am

We were hanging with Fear Factory on the tour bus and someone got a call that last night at Ozzfest Sharon Ozborne gave the crowd a bunch of eggs to throw on Iron Maiden and at the end of their set she went on stage to say what pricks they are....

toggletoggle post by Kalopsia   at Aug 21,2005 3:53pm
hey reverend, all i can say is there is no way that dream theater was fake playing. not those guys

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 21,2005 4:06pm
I wasn't looking at the stage... but there was a "bump" noise like someone hitting a CD player and then there was a pause, I looked around like "WTF" but I was sitting behind something in a penalty box and couldn't see and then they just started to play again.
