of course malevolent creation is my favorate death metal band
I'm so getting in for free. |
Thanks for the props on the flyer. It would have looked better if bands had damn high res logos on their sites, someone should make a site for bands to submit logos and people can get good one's for whatever reason... Hmmm |
Will this be ANOXIA's last show ever?!
will raising kubrick be doing a short intro set before? |
will any of you stop begging to be put on this show? |

are you serious, bad sound???? are you seriously serious? seriously, have you been to another place in boston that sounds better or in MA or NE for that matter. are you serious???? : p |
I think the Middle East generally has pretty good sound, actually. It's the PALADIUM that sucks for sound...
dammit i working everyday this week --- i'll be there LATE --- hopefully i dont miss too much |
I hope some people make it out on a Tuesday. |
ill be there at one of two times: early, or late. regardless, i will be there. |
I always hate how the shows upstairs at the Middle East sound. Downstairs always sounds magnificent.
and two bands that I want to actually see. |
can you guys give me directions to this place please? |
Animosity would be cool to see, I would say the same for Malevolent Creation, but their time seemed to pass after "Retribution" |

i coulda sworn this was in mid august more, i completely forgot it was tomorrow, I shall assemble a crew for this. |
i'm taking the pussy route and actually paying my bills and moving into a new practice space tomorrow instead of seeing one of my favorite death metal bands. i suck. |
mark - what time are you guys practicing? ill go with you if you decide you wanna go, just let me know before hand so i can get out of work early |

Go to the Middle East box office before the show and get your ticket for $15. Not that it's much of a difference...
Sorry I had to make the price so goddamn high. I didn't have a choice. :(
i agree... i'm not going. i don't have $17 |

i'm not really sure if we're practicing that night. hopefully we'll get all our stuff in there in time to kick out the jams. i'm gonna try getting there around 5 or 6, so practice will probably start at 7 or 8 if it does indeed happen.

Oh my god. Seventeen dollars is so expensive. How can anyone afford that without cutting back on their booze/drug money?! Luckily I keep it clean so I'll be able to scrape together enough quaters to see Malevolent hit New England for the first time in 80 years or however longs it's been according to Jim.
It's a good thing we don't like "popular" music and have to pay $30, $40 or $50+ per ticket to see any show that comes around. A local show under $10 is a pretty good deal. A tour with national acts under $20 is a great deal in my book. |
Yeah I have no beer money for this so someone should buy me one, please!!!! |
I'm driving for two hours to get to this show, just because I want to see MC that badly. |

does anyone know offhand what times bands on going on --- even if it's a guesstimate. i'm working tomorrow night and wanna make sure i wont miss too much. |
Here's my guess:
9:00 - ANOXIA
10:00 - ANIMOSITY
11:00 - ORIGIN
12:00 - MALEVOLENT CREATION
im trying to get out of gay work to see this... u was scheduled last minute to work tomorrow night and yeah... im fucking flipping out. |
IF YOU FAIL TO ATTEND THIS SHOW, YOU ARE A FUCKING DOUCHEBAG. and that goes for anyone at all. |

okay, who knows where i should park, hmmm? |

there are parking lots across the street behind blockbuster. there's also the manray garage for $5. it's behind the middle east somewhere.
leaving now. see you all there! |
when you see the mcdonalds, go down the side street directly next to it. then take a right at the end of that street, there is a free parking lot.. |
the garage sounds safer, so i'll go with that. I'm also leaving now, I'll see you hep cats in a couple of hours. |
Peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee |
I'm leaving for this in a few minutes. |
FUCK i totally spaced this show until i saw that it was tonight just now. ive been working so much i spaced it. FUCK!!!!! |
are you saying that you want reminders sent to you phone? |
anoxia: they need more falsettos. Their set was beyond brutal. This is probably the best set I've heard them do yet. My only complaint is that their set seemed so short. I snapped a picture of chris's (bassist) and his hand was completely black. For a second, I was thinking "corpse paint?" but no such luck. His car had broken down. |
how many people are at the 17 dollar show? |
its lady land tuesday in weymouth |
during origin it was pretty packed.
malevolent is about to start. |
just got home from work. gayness. |
and anyone complaining that this show is $17 is a whiner who obviously doesn't like metal.
this is malevolent fucking creation. they have been around forever and only have two "bad" CDs (one of which is the remix CD) |
when they play "Coronation of Our Domain", somebody kick someone else in the head for me. |
the show is over. to everyone who missed it, you only loose 5 scene point. however everyone whowent gets 100 scene pts. so its kind of like you still get to drive you 95 chevet, but all you friends are driving 2006 ford explorer hybrids (the #1 customer rated vihicle in the US) and they got 0% APR for 48 months. pls the dealer tossing in the seat covers and tow package FREE!!!! |
Good times. I lost more money than I have in the bank, but it was a great show overall. I'm glad MC played lots of older stuff. They were fucking amazing. \m/ |
this show was great.
anoxia's bassist made a very dramatic entry halfway through the 2nd song.
Animosity had just the right amount of groove, I liked it very much.
Origin just kicked unholy ass.
Malevolent Creation, was Malevolent Creation. hell yeah it was good.
the best part of tonight was when kailyn told me my hair smelled nice and then she bought me a lollipop. I'm jealous of you Tom. |
i think tom should be jealous of YOU!!! she says his hair smells like her ass |
i had a blast at my show and got a ton of photos
holy teeth =)
can't wait to see the rest of your photos |
Malevolent KILLED...PERIOD.
Origin impressed me live considering I'm not a fan of them on CD. Incredible musicianship and very tight/well executed in a live setting...
Animosity are shitty fucking metalcore. My ears were sad...
Anoxia did their thing. People were definitely into them... |
I might go to this show in New York tonight! |
exumedtoconsume nli said: how many people are at the 17 dollar show? |

tell me how much I rock
it's a little noisey in there, but I could fix that if I took more than 2 seconds. |
kick ass show M.C. set was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to short!!!!!!!!
origin were pretty cool
anomisity were decent
anoxia kicked as as always(don't quit brian)
There was over 100 people and she lost her shirt???
I don't get it.
I think the tour had a hefty guarantee |
yea i hear it was pretty steep
I figured that. But that's just bad business if over $1,500 dollars comes through the door and that doesn't cover everything for an upstairs show. Upstairs doesn't hold much more than hundred people. Sounds like even if it sold out it still would've lost money.
Somebody needs a calculator.
Also sounds like Malevolent are pricing themselves out of touring ever again.
at $17
=1700
club gets $500
tour gets $1800 |
lol aaron
i just picked a quick one...i can't wait to show you the rest!
ps: sucks that you lost money jess =(
I don't know what the exact figures were, but the club also takes a % and the tour also included food I bet. |

If that's true, than I was right. Even if it sold out, it still would've lost money. $2,300 to cover a band that can't fill Upstairs is crazy.
If Malevolent need that much to tour they will never tour again.
Every promoter on this tour must be losing money.
nailpolish???? |
why do you think it's been 10 years since they've been here? they have toured a bunch, but the package cost was too much for them to come up here. I wonder how much was lost in buffolo.. I heard there was no one there. the middle east was fairly packed. |

Whole tour:
MC gets $1,500
Origin and Animosity get $150 apiece
That's typically how package tours work.
so I had every intention of going to this and then I got tied up building our new practice space. I couldn't be any more pissed off about missing a show... |
Thank you Jess for booking this!!
Un-believable show.
Unfortunately I missed ANOXIA, sorry guys.
ANIMOSITY were good. I enjoyed their set and they were very impressive being so young but it was a liiiiitle too slammy for me.
ORIGIN was the band I was most excited about and they far exceeded my expectations. Completely awe-inspiring performance from every member of the band. Words can't even describe, you have to see this band for yourself.
MALEVOLENT CREATION were excellent! Set was way too short thanks to the Middle East but the songs they played were awesome and I'm very happy I got to hear some stuff from Retribution.
I wish it had been slightly better attended but what can you do- I feel bad for people who couldnt go or found an excuse not to because they really missed out. |
animosity: I thought that they were going to be the odd man out a lot worse than they were. they are on black market activities so they have "that" sound to them. the Cd that I got, I really like. it's a lot more techy sounding that they sounded live. I was really impressed with how much more brutal the vocals were in their live set and show much of and other all deathmetal show that they had. I'm guessing the gold teeth has something to do with making the vox so good. seriously, a couple times those gold things confused my autofocus they were so shiney!
origin: they completely made up for the palladium show where they got 15 minutes. they played for about 45 minutes, new stuff and old stuff a like. the past times that I've see them (all at the palladium), the sound is insanely muddy. here, they were a bit muddy, but you could hear what the guitarist were doing through it all. Also the bassplayer is awesome. they do the Impaled this with every member (minus the drumer) doing vocals along with the singer. Speaking of the drummer, I thought that nothing would be able to replace longstreth in this band especially their live set, but that new drummer sounded awesome. not as techy as jon, but he was a solid deathmetal drummer and I think played the tracks great. after their set, a bunch of people left, lame.
malevolent creation: so I have no idea what their line up was in the past. someone said there is only one original member and I don't care. Theis sound was so good, but I agree, their set was wicked short (cause of cerfew or whatever). they could have played for 30 minutes longer and people would still say they played too short. |
malevolent creation took forever to set up |
i don' tthink they took thatttttt long no more longer than most bands |

I actually lost less than I had expected to. It was worth it to me anyway, because Malevolent Creation is one of my favorites and this was my last show. It was a good way to go out. I had a blast. |

I paid $17 just to see Origin. They fucking blew my mind. The highlight was watching the bassist. I loved the way he attacked that shit, he's extremely over-looked. Metalfest and the last time I saw them at Palladium (in 2001?) gave them no justice. Best part was when they played Vomit You Out, sent it out to us, then did it DOUBLE TIME. It was really cool to walk outside and hear EVERYONE talking about the bassist. I'm telling yah, that's the secret to putting your band over the top, having a good bass player who goes balls out and keeps it together. Rock the fuck out!!!!! BASS PLAYAH!! |
Josh, lets start an all bass band. Drums and three basses doing all slap/sweep nonsense, trading solos, the whole nine. |

Well, I'm on my way home from the New York leg of this tour. Great show, but way too hot! It was cool though, cause I walked into this show expecting to be all alone, and the Malignancy guys were all there. Then my friend from Shattered Existence showed up! Good show, great times. Oh yeah, the girl who booked the tour here worked out a deal for the package and made 500 on the show! |

Many thanks and Cheers to Jess for putting on this show. It sucks that the attendance was not better, but I finally got to see M.C. for the first time and it was well worth it. Sadly to say, no more shows from the women, who helped many local and national bands to play in the area. This is very rare, so my hat off to her and many others who book shows for the scene! She will be missed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
A little late, but what the hell.....
This was a great show. Many thanks to Jessica for putting us on the bill. Origin is just so fucking crazy live. |

if only the original ANIMOSITY from CT had played then maybe this would have been a show to go to, but since it was yet another new jack band rippin off an old school band... FUCK THAT

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAH!!!
Again...the most dissapointed applause i've ever heard at a show was after Down the Drain's first song when they played there earlier this year |

This is clearly a new useage of the term "kick ass band" that I was previously unaware of. |
