SHADOWS FALL SINGER TEAMS UP WITH PETA2 TO LEAVE FANS A MESSAGE

Brian Fair Records Voice-Mail Greeting and Grants Exclusive Interview at
peta2.com

Norfolk, Va. - Shadows Fall lead vocalist Brian Fair might belt out
hardcore with a vengeance, but he refuses to take part in the war on
farmed animals. That's why Brian recorded a greeting for peta2-PETA's
youth-focused division-that urges people to help animals by going
vegetarian, and fans can download it into their voice-mail. "What's up?"
begins the recording. "This is Brian Fair from Shadows Fall, and the
person you're trying to reach wants you to know that the meat and dairy
industry are based on suffering and cruelty ..."

Brian started thinking about going vegetarian when he was in eighth
grade, after listening to The Smiths' "Meat Is Murder." "It was just
this feeling I had that I could no longer be part of the cycle of
death," he says in an exclusive interview at peta2.com. Brian also
believes that one reason so many people accept the abuses of farmed
animals is that the cruelty is "faceless," far removed from everyday
life, and that sometimes people need to be jolted back to reality. Most
chickens, pigs, and cows on factory farms spend their entire lives in
extremely crowded stalls, cages, or crates, often unable to turn around
or take even a single step. Most see daylight only once in their
lives-when they are being shipped to the slaughterhouse.

"Anyone who wants to go to a slaughterhouse or check out PETA's videos
will see-it's completely shocking," says Brian. "It's a lot easier just
to see a Happy Meal than to see a carved-up carcass."

Brian Fair joins an ever-growing list of musicians-including My Chemical
Romance, Napalm Death, Dillinger Escape Plan, and Converge-who have
teamed up with peta2 to inspire kids to challenge outdated, cruel
attitudes about animals. Also featured on peta2.com are celebrity
interviews, message boards, downloadable iron-ons, and chances to win
great prizes like free concert tickets, CDs, autographed merch, and
more.

To hear and download Brian's message and to read his exclusive
interview, please visit peta2.com.

Shadows Fall will be on the main stage at Ozzfest, from July 15 to
September 4. For more information, please visit ShadowsFallRocks.com.

I've not eaten veal since 1986-ish.
I've not eaten cow since 1990-ish (that was on a bet with my friend which I won in 99 when he was stuck in europe).
and then starting in 1994, I eat chicken 3 times a year.. it would be something like in may, I would decide "ok, time to eat chicken.." and then go to the dinning hall or mcd's and order chicken sandwiches until I wanted to die. then in Novemember, I would have chicken fingers.
that slowly dropped from 3 in 94 to 0 in 99. the last piece of meat I knowingly ate was a mcd's chicken sandwich.

I basically grew up with hippie parents and we had to kill animals ourselves and stuff like that. after snuffing out my last animal, a turkey in 97-98, I realized that I couldn't do that again and if I wasn't able to kill and eat the animal myself, I would be a coward to stand behind the butchers who do it.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 8,2005 1:28pm
I think that if you can't go out an kill, skin, and cook a cow/deer/chicken/fish/wombat then you shouldn't be allowed to buy them at shaw's or mcd's. If it were up to me, I would make a licensing process for eating meat. It would have a bunch of pictures of animals on it. when you kill one, that animal gets x'd out. and then you can buy them at the store from that time forth.

no no no, humans were never meant to eat meat.

thats why we have incisors and canines, used to grip and cut meat.

and thats why vegans are so healthy, having to take an army of vitamins and supplements every day and still have the shittiest immune system on the face of the earth.

on average, vegans die 5-7 years earlier than people who comsume meat, but abstain from red meat.

its a free country and if i want to eat a chicken, thats what im gonna do. keep it to yourself. any vegan peta faggot who's gonna cry about it is gonna get punched in thier brittle, weak ribcage.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 8,2005 1:52pm
our mouth is a potpurri of teeth types there tomx.
it's not that we are "meant" to eat meat. what we are "meant" or "made" for is to be ready to eat EVERYTHING cause we are opportunistic scavengers by design. there are plenty of fruit-eating animals that have both canines and incisors. and there are meat eaters than have molars.

toggletoggle post by humanbonedeathmachine at Jun 8,2005 2:08pm
man rev, the last meat you ate was mcd's. thats sad. you couldve done it right and got something like a cornish game hen. hell if the only meat i ate was mcds id be veg too. that shits swill. at least i have no problem killing to eat. ive killed deer, i filet fish that i catch ice fishing every year and a lot of times once i bring them inside and they start warming up, they start moving again when i cut em. once the meat gets cut off we throw the fish in a bucket of water and it tries to swim, but with no meat it goes into shutdown and dies.

toggletoggle post by soloman   at Jun 8,2005 2:11pm edited Jun 8,2005 2:11pm
we were built for eating both meat and some plant life. we're omnivores. Eating meat isn't inately wrong. We are so removed from the process of butchering that it's shocking to us city folk. I even knew some kids in college that would eat chicken nugs, but were grossed out by drumsticks cuz they could "see the bone". Animals are also too personified in our culture all the time too. But that's a culture thing. Some asians eat dog, and although I dont, I don't think it's wrong to do so. but if you want to be a veggie thats cool go for it. I probably never will.

toggletoggle post by __THeMoor__  at Jun 8,2005 2:49pm

He could. I've seen the same figures. However, the study wasn't published because there were too few participants and too many variables. PUBLISHED studies show that immunities are lower in vegans, cholesterol rates are lower, and squirty shits are much more frequent in vegans.

Again, shoddy evidence due to too many variables. From a difference in fossil fuel emissions to lower rates of skin cancers, there's way too many reasons besides food that could explain this. Besides, the Japanese DO eat a lot of red meat, but not NEARLY as high a percentage as us. The average McDonalds over there does about 1/2 - 3/4 the sales per population of it's american equivalent. And YES, fish sandwiches and salads account for a lot of it.

I had this awesome chimichanga last night with shredded beef (tons of it), tons of cheese, beans, etc... oh did I say it has BEEF in it? It was so good! I especially love hamburgers and steak tips. But to each his own.

The problem I have with PETA people and militant vegans is that their words are falling on deaf ears for the most part. If you want to make a change in the world pick something that people might want to hear about. Most people today have already made up their minds whether or not they wanna eat meat or this and that. Rather than complaining of food that they eat or this person eats, think about how there are tons of people in America who don't even get a chance to eat most of the time. I'm not talking about the starving people in other countries, their governments should worry about them. I am talking about this country. Put down your carrots or your steaks and help a fellow human out rather than bla bla bla bla...

Actually I think a happy meal is much more repulsive than a cut-up carcass. At least the cut-up carcass will be nice and fresh. Slaughterhouses aren't that shocking. My old band used to practice in one. I found it soothing. Oh yeah, and Shadows Fall is not good.

Why the fuck would they do that?

toggletoggle post by farm dude at Jun 8,2005 4:23pm
Soy products are actually worse for you than red meat in relation to health. First off i grew up on a farm which grew soy beans. you cannot eat them straight from the field because they are toxic. Also after they are picked they are given an acid bath to strip them of this toxin which also conaminates them with high levels unsaturated fat. Each soy bean is like eating a french fry, so for all those vegans out there thinking they are eating healthy by eating soy products, you might wanna stop cuz in actuality you are slowly introducing man made toxins in your body which can break your immune system down and make you more susceptible to disease, most notably colon cancer. Oh well, as long as you vegans keep eating soy products, we'll keep growing em' . By the way, soy products werent even available until 1958, before that soy products were used as a form of diesel gasoline most commonly found in tractors because it last longer than conventional gasoline. bon apetite vegan fuckers!

I dont understand why alot of people associate mcd's with red meat.
Mcd's is NOT red meat, its mystery meat. It may say 100% pure beef, and it is, but its not ONLY 100% pure beef.
It's made with SOME beef, and who knows the rest. earthworms, horse, soy, coagulated blood...who knows, but when red meat is spoken, I picture a nice ribeye steak, not a mcheartattackwich.
