New site? Maybe some day.

For some reason, while watching Episode III last night in the theater... I thought of how much power Chancellor Palpatine had and his extended years as Chancellor show how much power he truly had during the war.
This made me think of the Bush administration, Senior and Junior and currently Juniors second term in office and how much power he and his father have and the war that is going on here in America.
The Bush families are SITHS! The dark side of the force is strong with them all!!!!!!
Too bad that damn grenade didn't explode! |

Haha I always rooted for the dark side in the movie, I guess real life is no different. |

seems like there is a buzz all around the world in the media, do a google search on "bush sith" you'd be amazed!
Amazingly there is a line in the movie, when Anakin Skywalker says (just before becoming Darth Vader), "You are either with me, or you are my enemy." Of course, we all clearly remember when President Bush said, "You're either with us or against us in the fight against terrorism."
Sound familiar?

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Also, in the movie, Darth Vader is made to believe he is doing the "right thing" for the people and to save his wife. |
|
What about the dumb side of the force? I think it has seduced you. |

I saw Dune again a few months ago, and the movie even more so reminded me of the current situation. You have a dessert planet that different nations across the galaxy are interested in because of the need to mine spice (oil?). The people living on that planet are crazy religious people that live in caves. The first time you see one of these people is when a women is shown calling out for Jihad. She actually says Jihad. And then as the movie progresses, they rebel by blowing up the mine fields... lighting the oil fields on fire?
I don't believe the war in Iraq was to get their oil, but it was pretty funny to watch the movie and make the parallel. The desert planet was called Arrakis, which even sounds like iraq.
Alright I'll stop being a nerd now |

I read the book, Dune back in the 80s. |

I haven't seen episode 3... but the senator from episode 1 reminds me more of John Kerry... Bush reminds me more of something out of a Marx Brother's movie... or maybe a mix of Baldrick from Black Adder and Edmund from Brain Donners |

Dune was probably more influenced by the British exploits in and of the Middle East, but it's basically the same thing. |
