Koch Records and Larry Mazer's Entertainment - Announce Relaunch of COMBAT Records

KOCH Records, the fastest-growing independent music label in the U.S., and Entertainment Services Unlimited are thrilled to announce the relaunch and resurrection of the classic COMBAT Records label brand, the birthing place of hard rock and hard core titans like VENOM, EXODUS, MEGADETH, POSSESSED, C.O.C., NUCLEAR ASSAULT, DEATH, DARK ANGEL and many more.

The new venture will focus on developing new bands and providing them with a home that is both artist friendly yet aggressive in its pursuit to rebuild a brand name that established itself as one of the most forward thinking labels in metal and hardcore.

There are no immediate plans to re-issue previously out-of-print catalogue titles, the joint venture will focus entirely on new releases.

Bob Frank, President of KOCH Records, says “We are honored to partner with Larry and his team. This is a great time for aggressive independents and we are armed, dangerous and ready for some serious hand-to-hand ‘Combat’!”

Larry Mazer, a partner of Entertainment Services Unlimited, adds “My partners Tim Smith and John Daley and myself are thrilled to rebirth with KOCH one of the most legendary names in the history of metal. We intend to scour the planet to seek out the best new bands to develop long term careers.”

The first of 3 releases already scheduled under the new COMBAT imprint is a new full-length album from metal/hardcore act, AT ALL COST. The release from this Texas-based band is currently being recorded with Rory Phillips and is slated for an early September ’05 street date.

Following AT ALL COST, later in September will be the debut release from Southern Californians, HORSE THE BAND (who were recently named one of the “100 bands to know in 2005” by Alternative Press). This exciting new band is presently recording with Matt Bayles in Seattle.

The initial COMBAT release cycle will also see the October release of the debut from LOOK WHAT I DID who has been described as a mix of QUEEN, JAWBOX with MR. BUNGLE thrown in for good measure.

Stay tuned for some additional COMBAT announcements and news on future releases.

"look what I did" ha ha this has to be a joke, right? right? probably not

toggletoggle post by Al_Ravage   at May 18,2005 11:00am
remember when they had respectable bands like Faith Or Fear... with sophisiticated albums like "Punishment Area" and deep, heart-felt lyrics like "You... have... en-tered the Punishment Area!"

"The initial COMBAT release cycle will also see the October release of the debut from LOOK WHAT I DID who has been described as a mix of QUEEN, JAWBOX with MR. BUNGLE thrown in for good measure."

I think that sums up the gayness of this label quite well.

even though I really really like jawbox and mr. bungle.

toggletoggle post by KillerKadoogan   at May 18,2005 11:23am
and i really really like queen, but yeah this is looking pretty gay.

i got excited at first, and then i thought, "wait, they'll probably sign abunch of shitty bands"

lo and behold...

The time for Combat Records has been over for like twenty years

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at May 18,2005 12:03pm

Unbelieveable how a legendary label is smeared in this attempt at resurrection...now if they signed METAL bands...

toggletoggle post by blue  at May 20,2005 2:00pm

Disgraceful...

I wish they were still signing thrash bands....

Still, I think Horse the Band is hilarious and great.

It is a disgrace to all the original bands that started on this label,This is the gayest news I have heard in a long time

Combat needs Raising Kubrick

They need an enema.

you know it's from the brilliant people over at KOCH who will be Combat's "parent company". Taking a legendary label name and defiling it with underground trend as opposed to CREATING the trend like they did with thrash...although I never thought thrash to be a trend, it certainly fueled the rise of the genre almost singlehandedly

Perhaps your worst post yet.

look what i did and horse the band are two of the most untrendy bands in the underground today.

look what i did has about the most abrasive sounding melodically complex prog-hardcore you'll hear, with things like grindcore mixed with five part harmonies in different modes. dont judge it till you hear it

Horse The Band rules.
