I know how you musicians feel...
there are so many photogs out there that kick my fucking ass.
when I see them, I'm either inspired to get better... or I want to quit.

holy shit I've always loved the converge picture

the horrifying truth of that band, though, is that they are so incredibly cathartic live that you can't help but get pictures like that from them.

that gets me pumped to play tonight!

CASE IN POINT.

but still man, I mean honestly when you're good at something it shows, and there's different styles, too. If you see someone saying something with their instrument, whatever it might be, that you want to be able to say with yours or that expresses something you feel deeply, it's good to figure out how that happened and see what you can do to make it happen too, in your own way.

Is that also the guy who played with the prog band Spiral Architect- just not with the stage name?

I look up to a lot of musicians. A lot of them are insane and I know ill never be as advanced as them, but I dont care. I never want to quit playing. I play what I want to play period.

i hear that. as long as you are having fun and are happy with your musical output, there is no reason to quit playing music or quit any hobby, be it taking photos, banging fat chicks, shaving your balls, joining the local curling team, riding mopeds, or whatever it is people do for fun these days.

It's just having to put up with the fact that I've spent almost 9 years of my life getting good at something and then seeing someone getting more done in less time and having that person be younger than me.

i tend to try to look at my own personal goals... whether my photos, my drawings, paintings, sculptures, or writing..... sure i look at other stuff and can appreciate it immensely... but im always just trying to better myself.... i try not to become discouraged by others work... because as someone said in the beginning its about what YOU feel.... a lot of my newer photos have been kinda on the artsy side.... i like playing with the idea of using what i really see and not using flash.... sure i could go out and get a more expensive nicer camera (well i really cant but) but id rather just use what i have and worry about composition and whatnot.... ok im rambling.... aaron just shut up your work is great and the progress you have made over the years is simply amazing.... shit i mean look at some of the older photos in the intro page....

rembrandt. one brush stroke kills everything I work on for weeks.

lately it's been local guys that I've been noticing that gets a fire lit under my ass. in particular, this guy named Dave Pino from Waltham. He's been in a few bands that have been on major labels but he always quits and does something else.

^^^ lol he was in boy scouts with my brothers

Anne Armageddon! Not only did she literally kick my ass once, but her shows, regardless of who plays or on what night, seems to do well.

Atleast Doctor Mengelle (the cat) still loves me

I'm better than everyone at everything, so I really can't relate. Well, except for one thing... finding bourbon...
"Where's my bour-bon!?!"

Sorry, I just had to, I'm on a real "Where's my bour-bon!?!" kick lately. What a brilliant line. Robert Englund has to be the best actor ever... well, next to Gary Busey.

toggletoggle post by Joe/NotCommon   at May 9,2005 12:22pm
Al, you need to practice your headbanging, the last 2 times i saw Ravage, your headbanging was out of sync with the music

toggletoggle post by Al Ravage at May 9,2005 12:36pm
I think I have a serious neck ailment and should be wearing a neck brace... but lets not start listing the things that I suck at or it will weaken my facade of being the best at everything and I'll have to be mopey like the rest of you.

toggletoggle post by Joe/NotCommon   at May 9,2005 12:37pm
Haha Mopey Al Ravage, what a horrible thought

Dave Pino is one of my personal guitar gods.

I once asked him how he does the solo on this Damone song and he sent me a video of him playing it slowed down. That's a fucking awesome dude right there. Plus he was wearing a buckethead mask in the vid.

Nothing about this pic is any better than any of your shots, rev.
Its got the same squiggly lines, gaussian blur, and detail that all yer pics have.
Dont be so hard on yerself.

I said hard on.
