sorry about thenightmarecontinues... not playing. i kinda OD'd on migraine meds and am still suffering with the migraine. hope everyone had a blast. and who were those kids listening to cypress hill in the parking lot? fuck that! webster defines "disrespectful" as : listening to cypress hill in the parking lot of a venue while bands are inside playing.

yea, listening to The Nightmare Continues live while having a migraine is definately NOT a good idea

once again, I had issues getting in. the guy at the door ALWAYS does that to me and ALWAYS doesn't remember me from all the other times that I was there and had the same exact issues. oh well, WWW got um.. julie? from http://www.absolutmetal.com who came and pulled me in. thank you.

raising kubrick: they sounded awesome. I couldn't hear blues vocals, but want ever. definitely came out well on that pa.

throwing shrapnel: sounded good, but not as good as last night. they had some technically dificulties that were worked out just as I ran out of the club. WWW blamed it on me.. but I can't make smoke come out of things on comand.

screams of erida: so... getting from the AS220 to rathborn st took me FOREVER. I kept getting on 6w and heading for onlyville. anyhow, I got there for their last song. sounded good and people were dancing around.

to all the other bands, I was in PVD for the other show.. sorry... I came back cause shows at the living room usually go until 1am.. oh well....

toggletoggle post by handinjury at Apr 11,2005 9:26am
Raising Kubrick sounded awesome, and i like that new song they played. Burning silence was also very good- very good guitar playing. That sucks that WWW's marshall fried or whatever, thats an expensive head.
It seemed like hardly anyone was drinking.

and who were those kids listening to cypress hill in the parking lot? fuck that!

i agree with this. i didn't see one kid there who was psyched to see a show. why were you there at all?

toggletoggle post by greggdeadface at Apr 11,2005 11:07am
come on guys the real reason why tnc... did not play was,we left our tight pants at home, our white belts ,and our beatles hair cuts.mmm and most of us are at a normal weight(fat).oh yeah but the biggest reason...
WE ARE GRINDCORE,NOT SECOND RATE FASIONGRINDMOSHCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sorry just needed to get that of my chest.

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Apr 11,2005 12:33pm
so you guys didnt play because of the other bands that were playing the show, who in my opinion were all great bands. thats lame

toggletoggle post by dourcursiva  at Apr 11,2005 12:57pm
besides the fact that about 20 kids showed up to this gig, it was a great time...

raising kubrick: 2nd time ive seen them, last time was about 2 years ago at jarrods with ATNFAC, theyve gotten much better since then. great live energy, good grindish breakdowns.

throwing shrapnel: death metal with technial problems, broken amps, all of the band members faced the drummer. but otherwise they were good.

the heuristic: they were tech/spaz kinda stuff which isnt really what im into, they were intense though.

screams of erida: great band, good live sound, reminded me of old beyond the embrace with breakdowns, maybe thats because of the 3 guitar players, i dunno. very impressed, these guys could be going somewhere.

burn in silence: best band of the night. they were tight, great breakdowns, solid vocals, a good mix of death metal and hardcore.

invocation of nehek: put on a damn good show, the singer was humerous. i dunno most of you have probably heard them, they sounded like they do on cd. it was funny when the bass player fell over at the end of the show.

toggletoggle post by greggdeadface at Apr 11,2005 1:59pm

i went to see The Nightmare Continues...

i got pissed at pretty much everyone at this show, and was completely fed up with what was going on... and that kid filming the documentary now has a nice portrayal of how 2 bit rock stars ignore everyone except for themselves... thats gonna make new england look great

Hard pressed that i will ever go to another show involving those bands that so poorly "represented" the concept of having a diverse show.

I'd have to fully agree with the TNC guys on this one, as well as every single other person that i was friends with at this show that said the same things, whether they post them here or not. A good portion of the people at this show felt this way and hope you guys have fun getting famous, get the fuck out of here and start your trend somewhere else, we dont need your arrogance here.

toggletoggle post by dourcursiva  at Apr 11,2005 2:56pm
i dont understand what you guys are saying about these bands acting like rock stars?? i did notice that the guys from the bands werent really being nice to the kids that showed up. but i just assumed that most of the guys from the bands were pissed off that almost no one showed up to this gig. and that is why they were being antisocial. im more inclined to blame the kids (or lack of kids ) in RI than the bands for the general shittyness of this show. and why does everyone hate metalcore on this site, is it simply because its been getting popular lately???

toggletoggle post by KeithMutiny  at Apr 11,2005 3:05pm
ive never liked metalcore, but thats besides the issue, it could have been ANY type of music, thats not the point. the point is when other bands are playing a show thats helping to support your act, dont fucking sit around the parking lot blasting shit that can be heard inside the club itself and ignoring them. The people in the bands dont like the turn out, well fuck them for not promoting it, tough fucking shit, whether theres 10 people or 2,000 (in the fucking palladium), thats pretty shitty to be so ignorant of your "scene", karmas a bitch, remember that, im so fucking glad this trend is slowly dying.

toggletoggle post by whiskey_weed_and_women  at Apr 11,2005 3:21pm
people need to learn how to promote shows, and realize they aren't rockstars. it takes more then throwing shrapnel and raising kubrick to promote a show and hope for a goodturn out. if the other bands were upset cause of it maybe they should realize just cause they play palladium show they aren't rockstars yet and should actually promote themselves.

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Apr 11,2005 3:32pm

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Apr 11,2005 3:42pm
I dont think nehek were trying to act like rockstars, there were just hanging out and drinking with there friends, every one is getting upset over nothing.

toggletoggle post by whiskey_weed_and_women  at Apr 11,2005 3:46pm
naw, i wasn't referring to ION when i said anything in my other posts. however they did know it was their friends out in the parking lot acting like dicks to the other bands.

toggletoggle post by KeithMutiny  at Apr 11,2005 3:50pm
trying or not, whats done is done, it was a horrible reflection on the people that booked the show and the bands that actually put thier heart into it and promote local metal as much as possible, its fucking pathetic... lets go to a show and sit outside and be annoying all night, then only go watch our friends band, fuck everyone else... next time just give ION the money straight forward and save us all the hassle, stay home and drink in your own driveway.

i dunno, i've played at least 5 sold out shows in providence, sometimes with only local bands on the bill. there are plenty of kids here. everytime we've played a "metalcore" show, the turnout and the quality of people was similar to last night.

and why does everyone hate metalcore on this site, is it simply because its been getting popular lately???

lately? it's been the trend for the last 5 years at least, finally it's starting to wane. and it's because it's just that. it's a trend. more about fashion and breakdowns than living this shit. (and by "this shit" i mean music not "the scene")

that being said, respect to sean and anyone else who put the effort in to try and make a good thing happen in providence.

well in defense of my statements..i did not know about the blaring music during the first bands, that is pretty shitty to do. and im not saying that RI has a bad scene or that the kids arent really into it, im just saying that on that particular night no one was around. my band has also played in providence at the living room about a month ago and there were about 80 kids there all for a terrible night for a curse, us (dour cursiva), and theyre all robots!. it was a great show and demonstrated the close nit commutiny that is RI metal/core. but as far as metalcore goes i like it because i like the blend of both styles. i dont like metalcore because its popular . i actually agree with most of you that it is a trend and kids like it because its trendy and the fashion is popular. im put in a tough position of hating trendy music...but being a huge fan of most metalcore. combining the intensity of hardcore with the music skill and precision of metal, to me is a fucking godsend. but it is becoming a scene of posers and bands that all sound exactly the same. but it is a scene that started in this area and is hugely represented in this area so i guess well all have to deal with it...

toggletoggle post by handinjury at Apr 11,2005 10:02pm
Im lost......what is a "BREAK DOWN" ?
Im not hip to this lingo, but i think i heard a few last night at the show?

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Apr 11,2005 10:20pm
im not sure about this but i remember hearing that the nightmare continues has former members of a band called ishmael, that was essentially a metalcore band. seems a bit hypocritical to be dissing metalcore now eh???

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Apr 11,2005 10:23pm
breakdowns are exactly what you think they are...the parts where all the kids with tight pants start swinging their arms around and acting like ninjas. and when the band goes chug chugh chug....chug chug chug, guitars following the bass drum, most of the time.

toggletoggle post by yummy at Apr 11,2005 10:39pm

first off, i'm surprised that anyone even knows us enough to know that, hahha. secondly, aaron and murf were in ishmael. aaron is no longer in tnc, murf still is. for the record i think they were a bit more than a secont rate metalcore band, they had solo's and a mostly european metal thing happening. anyway, that being said, the ones who are talking most of the shit are gregg and i, so your agument is irrelevant.

p.s. NO BREAKDOWNS!!!
p.p.s. the only exception this rule is if it sounds like slayer. and only pre-1990 slayer.

Hmmmm...what to say...i think this was a great show despite the turnout. The guys in Invocation have always been good dudes to me. They got to the show during our set, so i wasnt tore up about them not watching us. The kids in the parking lot were just doing what theydo with their friends at a show. I'd be lying if i said i'd never done that before (FASSW last friday). And, not to play a show because hardcore/metalcore kids are there is just retarded and pretentious. Unless you're a band that transcends all extreme music, but there arent any bands like that in this thread. I personally like shows that have a mixture of bands that are a tad different in terms of the scene they come from, just as long as those scenes are respectable in their own right. Being a fan of metal and hardcore alike, i'll say this...just get a long, play/go to shows, and shut the hell up.

much respect to moe for that, if your in a grind band and you refuse to play shows with other types of bands you will go nowhere with your music. you will be one of a million grind bands that no one likes and plays in their hometown everynight. and for every metalcore band that sounds exactly like the last there are about 10 death/grind bands that sound exactily like the last. i was a death metal fan long before i got into hardcore or metalcore and simply put, i got sick of all the bands sounding exactly like cannibal corpse and morbid angel. and ya i remember ishmael, i liked them a lot, much better than tnc.

it's not that at all. but you know after a while you get tired of wasting your time trying to put on a good show for people who just don't give a shit. after a while you can usually tell whats going to be a good show and what's going to be a waste of time. and most of the kids at that show clearly didn't give a shit. it just so happens that they were "metalcore" kids. it just so happens that they usually are.

and to anonymous, yeah i know you have to play with other bands and other styles. no shit. i love and play all sorts of music. i loved seeing and playing with a lot of the different bands we've played with. what i don't love is people who go to shows because it's cool. or to show off their sickest new dance move, or new pants or hair or to see their friends band and then leave, or whatever the fuckever else. i am totally in it for the music dude, and that's exactly why we left that show. like i said i appreciate what sean did, and the people that were actually there to see a show. we didn't see much in the way of people who were stoked about a show, or about checking out some new bands. it really didn't seem worth the effort. call it pretentious, but i have bigger fish to fry.
and for the record, brendan did have a migraine.

and i was also kidding about the breakdown thing. sort of. ;)

peas out bitches,

toggletoggle post by mOe_rk at Apr 13,2005 1:46am
i do call it pretentious, and from what i remember there were people there who wanted to see you guys, and were bummed that you didnt play...just because there werent a lot of them doesnt make it right not to play. I've played many a show where no one gave a good godamn about me or the band i was in. I'm not trying to act better than anyone else here, i just dont like it when people lose sight of what playing shows is about. Its not about playing to a multitude of people (although it is nice when it happens). Its about playing your music for ANYONE who might be within listening distance, your friends/bandmates, and most importantly yourself.

toggletoggle post by diamond_dave  at Apr 13,2005 1:57am

Well...where to start. I mean, I don't know you. I've seen you guys play with Kubrick and ToS before. I mean...if you don't like playing shows in front of a bunch of kids who don't care...then why do you play shows? I thought one of the points was to play for people you don't know to turn them on to you. If you see a bunch of kids wearing the white belts and looking scene or whatever...and then leave because you don't want to play for them, what does that say about you guys? I don't want to insult you or anything...but it does sound like you guys are pretty much elitists who don't really want to get your name out there. Correct me if I'm wrong. I like playing in front of people I don't know just so they can come up after and be like hey good show man. It's fun. DAMMIT IT'S FUN!!!! CHRIST!!!! I play a fucking POS BC Rich Warlock with no tremolo, my amp homs don't match my cab homs....and I feedback all the time. On top of that, it's tough to stay in tune!!! toggletoggle post by KeithMutiny  at Apr 13,2005 2:55am
im far pressed to consider dave or anyone that saw the show in the same manor "elitists", its a matter of respect. I've seen dave and the rest of those guys, in multiple bands, pour out more fuckin heart and soul than any trendfuck band trying to ride the life to a record deal just because thats whats big with the mainstream in the area, specifically MINE, thats right, MINE, not yours or thiers, but my fucking scene. The people that live everyday to give all they have, even if its almost nothing to help and support the people and bands they love... now thats what we're here for...

ill have more to say when its not 3am on a wendsday... ill be fucking damned if i roll over on this scenster bullshit, this is the first time in YEARS i have been this pissed off about the way people acted... you midas well join the punk scene, you know how far that went after shit like this about 7 years ago...

is this shit really going on?

for awhile, i forgot people were entitled to opinions, or is that word and concept completely thrown out the door as soon as you go to your first "metal" show? buck the fuck up. i didn't play cuz i had a migraine. that's that. i will play any show, as bunk or as fabulous as the turn out is. i will always be all for rocking out. on top of that, i'll be down for checking out the other bands.

it's a rotten god damn shame that more people aren't into this. it's also a shame that people aren't into getting over themselves or their particular music. we're here for the same reasons. or should be anyways.

when we played with invocation of nehek years ago with goatwhore i thought they were solid dudes. i'm sure they still are. however, with that said, sitting outside drinking and blasting music at a show while other bands are playing is disrespectful. that IS NOT an opinion. it's a god damned fact. i'm pretty sure you can drink inside the living room, i've never done it, but i've seen it. there are such things as "pregames" and "after parties". look into it. i'll give anyone tips, my aim is "eat animals now".

so let me end it with saying this : you're all a bunch of morons and shouldn't be allowed to argue. thanks for those who expressed an opinion on us either positive or negative, means someone is checking us out.

sorry we didn't play, but honestly even though my heart was in it it was definitely best for my well being that we didn't.

also, seriously, shut the fuck up.

much love,
brendan from thenightmarecontinues...

this is getting way to fucking Gay!!! The dudes from the nightmare are far from "elitists" pretty down to earth guys that I have the plesure to know and play with . shit happens were sometimes bands have to cancell . i personally can vouch for Brendan cause we played a show w them the night before and I thought he was going to Die. and by the way that show was alot more "Metal CORE " than this one them dudes will play anytime any where same as us for 1000 or 1

I'd like to point out that I was inside during the entire living room show.

The cypress hill at metalfest was the sound guy, not us.

Anyways, sorry to anyone offended that some of my band and our friends were outside hanging out. I know that's an extraordinarily rare thing to do. We don't think we're rockstars at all. In fact, we are amazed that people think we're rockstars. We're just a bunch of clownshoes playing bonertag.

Oh, and someone made a remark about giving us our money... I'd like to ask you, where's our money? If you didn't notice, our tour bus was actual 3 shitty cars packed with gear. We can't afford the insurance on our van.
