(I don't think GS has a website, but they're a band out of RI with a LOT of potential; aged 15 - 17, these kids have a tight black metal sound with very good solos and songwriting)

And your name is in the title of their band, can't beat that

HAHA score 1 for shameless plugs? if I wasn't playing a show that night, I'd probabyl come down to check it out, but I'm busy that night...

I knew that was coming sooner or later...

toggletoggle post by ShadowSD at Mar 24,2005 8:30pm
(It's funny... when I started booking them, I figured I'd just have to put them on shows where my band wasn't playing in order to prevent confusion (and the inevitable jokes). But they ended up being such a good band, it seemed unfair to keep them off certain shows just because of a coincidence.)

Endgame (Melodic Thrash from Boston) has been added to the bill.

Shadows putting together a show April 30th, other bands should jump on it. but then again most bands don't wanna sell tickets cause selling 15tickets is tough !

toggletoggle post by ShadowSD at Mar 25,2005 2:46pm
Any band that wants to play the April 30 show at The Atrium w/Throwing Shrapnel should e-mail me at shadow@neca.com

Hey Joe, I'd say bands should just get in touch with me, there's no point organizing a show independently there unless you have a good PA. This is because at the moment, nobody besides myself brings a PA system into The Atrium, and the only system available otherwise is the house system (used for afterhours dance/DJ/horseshit, not suitable for metal bands).

And that aside, a band contacting me for the first time last night said that they approached The Atrium about how to play there, and they told him that I'm the person to talk to. This suggests that they are going to refer any bands that contact them back to me anyway...

toggletoggle post by Joe/NotCommon   at Mar 25,2005 4:26pm
I didn't know you booked there often, I am fine with that. I don't want to book shows in Worcester but would like notcommon bands to play there. I passed the information along to them.

Abhorred, Teratism, Kevorkian's Angels and Conifer should play April 30th !

toggletoggle post by Joe/NotCommon   at Mar 25,2005 4:28pm
Abhorred, Conifer and Kevorkian's Angels all got an email about it from me, as did Raising Kubrick.

toggletoggle post by blue  at Mar 25,2005 4:32pm
um, i dont know how we could possibly move tickets if they are 10 bucks each. and 13 at the door? you better have some serious ass headliners charging that kind of money.

That show in May sounds pretty sweet Shadow.

$10 is a bit high but so am i...but seriously it's worth it when there's all good bands involved.

toggletoggle post by Carrie at Mar 30,2005 1:11pm
This may seem like a dumb question, but... there's alcohol at this place, right? I only ask because it's all ages...

toggletoggle post by ShadowSD at Mar 31,2005 10:54am
Yes, there are three bars in The Atrium: one in the room where you walk in, and two in the main room where the bands play.

toggletoggle post by ShadowSD at Mar 31,2005 2:39pm
Another cool thing about this place is that the ceiling can open up over the bands and the audience when the weather is nice.

toggletoggle post by SacreligionNLI at Mar 31,2005 11:15pm

My Review:

Musically, an awesome show. Turnout was OK, although not quite what was expected (Malikhi's singer lied to me about their pre-sell), but there were still fifty-something people paid altogether so I guess that's pretty decent.

Endgame went on first and played a really good set. Great lead guitarwork from Brendan and Campbell highlighted their songs. (Campbell in particular is one of the better shredders I've seen locally.)

Gathering Shadows went on next and did really well in front a good sized crowd. It's so hard to believe that these kids are all still in high school. With impressive writing, musicianship, and two guitar players who can really rip, these guys are well on their way.

Malikhi went on next and stunk. They had no one there, despite claiming to have sold almost fifty tickets a week before the show. Worse yet, they were such a mess and had so many fuckups/equipment problems that they almost cleared out the whole room.

Inflicted went on next and put the show back on track with a great set, probably the best of the night so far. Dominating thrash and two really great lead guitarists inflicted the crowd with a powerful dose of metal.

Suicide Dream went on next, we seemed to get a very good response. I can't review us any further without bias, but I will say that Laurel was a trooper for going on and singing/performing so well despite being as sick as she was.

The Accursed went on next, I think this had to be my favorite performance of the night. The energy, the material, the dual-lead guitars - all awesome. (I know I sound like a broken record pointing out how great the solos were at this show, but it was really remarkable how many bands on this night had not one but two great lead guitarists, which added a lot to the music from a melodic and dynamic standpoint.)

Sacreligion closed out the show, they put on a good set as always. I don't know how many times I've gotten baked and listened to "Faithless", but I never fail to get into it each time.

A very good show overall, despite a couple minor miscommunications with the security there which should hopefully not be a problem in the future.

Suicide Dream kicked ass as always...I think that metal roof acted as a giant conductor for your guitar sound Shadow.

But, you know, they're not an opening band, because, they bring people, and shouldn't go on before 10PM.

My head hurts.
