I am thinking less than 3.
Name the bands that wouldnt be a band without breakdowns...

breakdowns= talent

toggletoggle post by Joe/NotCommon   at Mar 17,2005 7:56pm
pelletguncumshot would not be a band without breakdowns

toggletoggle post by KeithMutiny  at Mar 17,2005 8:02pm
one, and thats when people are supposed to get hurt.

take lessons from Charles Bronson

toggletoggle post by Blue  at Mar 17,2005 8:10pm
as many as the band likes, as long as it done tastefully. i will agree though, i think 3 is a good number.

toggletoggle post by metalmatt666 at Mar 17,2005 8:11pm
who cares do what you think is best

toggletoggle post by Joe/NotCommon   at Mar 17,2005 8:12pm

LOL!

Hardcore is better because it goes on first and cleans the hair

METAL IS BETTER BECAUSE IT LEAVES THE HAIR SILKY AND SMOOTH!

OH REALLY FOOL? REALLY!

STOP LOOKING AT ME SWAN!!!

the a-gay-cia strain.

toggletoggle post by DaveFromTheGrave  at Mar 17,2005 9:20pm
hardcore whitens your teeth while you chew, but metal has a 52" screen and is portable.

toggletoggle post by KeithMutiny  at Mar 17,2005 9:28pm
great taste, less filling

toggletoggle post by i_am_not_me   at Mar 17,2005 9:59pm
Zero.

toggletoggle post by Carcinogenic_Cookies  at Mar 17,2005 10:07pm
Breakdowns are the shittiest thing in music. Mindless, one handed "so we look cool" jerk off fest.

toggletoggle post by Carcinogenic_Cookies  at Mar 17,2005 10:08pm
All the good breakdowns have been done so zero.

toggletoggle post by TNOTL at Mar 17,2005 10:08pm
Bury your dead.

toggletoggle post by pelletguncumshot at Mar 17,2005 10:20pm
I think unless your meshuggah 2 breakdowns is good.
If your meshuggah ...just please stop...please!!

toggletoggle post by XmikeX at Mar 17,2005 10:34pm

ha, i was waiting for that one

toggletoggle post by malettey  at Mar 17,2005 10:43pm
if a song is just one breakdown after another, it gets very boring. but if they are used sparingly, and put in the right places in certain songs, they can be very effective.
personally i could give less than a shit about things like that, i just listen to what sounds good to me.

P.S. BLAST BEATZ RUUUUULLLLLEEEE DEATH METAL KICKS HARDCORE'S ASSES CHRIS BARNES COULD BEAT UP ALL HARDCORE KIDZ NIGGA
hahaha i'm just kidding

toggletoggle post by tbone_r  at Mar 18,2005 12:10am
i heard metal kids take their shirts off and hug in the mosh pit. this has been confirmed by very reliable sources...very reliable.

toggletoggle post by tbone_r  at Mar 18,2005 12:10am
ps. im wasted and need to get up for work at 630....i think tomorrow is going to be a bad day.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Mar 18,2005 12:12am
I vote either 2.5 OR you mosh it up a knotch with 100% breakdowns..
er.. well a couple "meedly meedly"s and the rest is all breakdowns

toggletoggle post by tbone_r  at Mar 18,2005 12:14am
i like to break it down...limp bizkit style

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Mar 18,2005 12:19am
well you are breaking it down,
I'll be jumping the fuck up!

examples of the breakdown

toggletoggle post by largefreakatzero at Mar 18,2005 8:11am
It's all about the contrast -- intense speed to slow sludge and back again. Contrasting the speed of riffs makes them seem more catchy and more brutal. I hate too many dancy-type breakdowns, I try to minimize that in our writing. Plus, blast-beats give me a stiffy.

toggletoggle post by gorgish at Mar 18,2005 8:24am
devourment

toggletoggle post by Soloman   at Mar 18,2005 11:31am
MC Hammer used to break it down.

Uh oh! Uh oh! Uh oh!

WAY OVER RATED

toggletoggle post by Paulll at Mar 18,2005 1:17pm
Devourment isnt overrated. the bands who rip them off are.

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Mar 18,2005 1:22pm
I am quite partial to the way Suffocation breaks their songs down, super technical to super "kill the person next to you" breakdows, then right back to being technical again.

breakdowns == good, so long as they're done tastefully and compliment the music

toggletoggle post by poops mcgee at Mar 18,2005 2:30pm
marty ad prolly has the most in every song that I can think of

toggletoggle post by poops mcgee at Mar 18,2005 2:31pm
