tboner, who do you think people will be there to see?
7 seconds or champion?

toggletoggle post by tbone_r  at Mar 15,2005 12:34pm
i have a feeling it's going to be 1/2 hardcore 1/2 punk, kind of like the with honor/strike anywhere show.

i've seen champion enough times, i dont really like the other bands all that much, but i have nothing else to do so i'll probably go

Didn't care about seeing any of the other bands, 7 Seconds rocked it and that's all I asked for. Well, that and for them to play Trust, Red and Black, Clenched Fists, and Bully, but the set was damn good anyway. Glad I got a chance to see them since they started playing shows when I was about 4 years old.

Pretty much a mix of hardcore kids and punk rockers, some older people there, mostly hardcore kids. Never heard the opening bands before, The Briggs were probably the only ones that held my interest.

Also, more hardcore/punk rock bands should use phaser foot switches in their songs.

fun show awesome time

this is the first show that I've been to where I think there were more DSLR cameras than people... and everyone with a DSLR. It was like some weird expirement... I swear, there's going to be so many pictures of everyone that no one will not me known since they will be in a photo somewhere.

some kind of hate: personally, I think they got robbed. the crowd didn't really move at all. It's been years since the last time I saw them play. They have gotten much better. the first song they played kicked ass. The songs after that were a bit more rock n' roll sounding.

the briggs: not my bag. they were sort of like drop kick or the explosion. I'm just not into that type of punk.. it's too much fashion/hair/glam oriented for me. one of the guitar players gets a mega thumbs down from me for give the sound guy constant dirty looks and yelling things at him.

champion: so by this point, I was wondering what this show was... the kids weren't getting into the music at all. Were there too many punk kids there? were there not enough hardcore kids? at the start of champion's set, every one rushed forwards and the typically crazy scene at the ICC finally unfolded. Chanpion's set was pretty awesome. I'm not really that familiar with their music and I used to confuse them with comeback kid.. but it was good. they all came out wearing 7 seconds shirts and black paint under their eyes (like the guy on the 7 seconds shirts). A lot of jumping too, from the band members on stage and the people in the crowd jumping off the stage.

7 seconds: well, I believe it was here, within the first 60 seconds of 7 seconds starting where that kid got his camera f'd up. sad day for the camera world... a canon died.. but then again, I use nikon! so, after listening to 7 seconds since frecshmaen year of highschool on WUNH's No Rules show (hosted by Kate), I finally got to see them. to me, these guys are almost up there with the circle jerks in the same catagory. granted it wasn't in their "glory days", but they came out and prooved the fact that they are going to stay young until they die. with greying hair and many more years under their belts, they played a long and awesome set. personally, I didn't care aout the songs they played from their new CD. It was all about the old songs which even after being covered by just about every single band out there, was awesome to hear from the original guys. A lot of people turned and left when champion ended, but those that stayed went crazy for 7 seconds.

I have no clue...
there wasn't a single person shooting there that I know puts pictures up on the web.

toggletoggle post by tbone_r  at Mar 17,2005 3:46pm
you can probably find some at returntothepit.com

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Mar 17,2005 4:12pm
my pictures aren't enough for him...
I think he wasn't more absurdity.

Anyone who left after Champion really missed out. I mean how many times are you going to get to see 7 Seconds, let alone 7 Seconds at the ICC. The only way I can understand it is if they went nuts during Champion and couldn't stand the damp, hot punk rock stench that filled the air. It was pretty funny that none of the people standing by the windows thought to open them until the show was half-way over.

And that's funny about the cameras, I made a comment to my friend about how many cameras were there. The flashes really started to piss me off.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Mar 17,2005 5:21pm
I hate flashes.

you can't open the windows when music is playing.

toggletoggle post by yupyupyupyup at Mar 17,2005 7:02pm
Yeah, I know, but even between sets people were leaving them closed, crazy.

I understand needing to use a flash for photography in a place like that, I saw you talking about how it's needed, but there was like 20 flashes per minute with all those camaras going on! I felt like I was at the superbowl during kick-off.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Mar 17,2005 7:19pm
never seen a superbowl kick-off...
but I really do hate flashes... ironically since I use my flash almst constantly.

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Mar 17,2005 7:31pm
you don't need to use flash...

yeah, you proved that to us with your elite photo skillz and the pics from the LoG/SF/sliptwat show

plus, we (in Shroud) LOVE the photos you took and greatly appreciate you taking the time to come up and do that

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Mar 17,2005 9:25pm
you couldn't have not used flash here.
the lighting situation was toooooooo bad there for that

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Mar 17,2005 9:38pm
50mm 1.4

i've done no flash in shitty lighting environments
granted pics don't look as good but...

toggletoggle post by tbone_r  at Mar 18,2005 12:13am
the rev's flash ruined hardcore, or so i'm told....

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Mar 18,2005 12:16am
my flash is currently saving up money to tour europe and ruin hardcore all over there. just think, I'm only human and I have to sleep, but once it gets rid of me, there will be no stopping it.
24-7 hardcore ruining machine from hell!
