They always plan a lot of old stuff and are a great time live, even if they haven't had an exciting album in over a decade.

i saw overkill at either the first or second metal fest. they where fucking awesome.

toggletoggle post by Hooker  at Feb 16,2005 2:41pm

I tried emailing you for tickets but the email keeps failing to send...I just tried again via a different email address. I hope there are still tickets for me!

toggletoggle post by BestialOnslaught  at Apr 8,2005 12:43pm

looks like they renovated this place since the last time I was here. now there are big couches and TVs which is cool.. except for the fact that they were playing MTV. I watched a bunch of yo-mtv-raps videos and wanted to vomit.

crotalus: this is the "other" band of the guys in the band blistered earth. the bassplayer/singer and both guitarists (one of them on drums in this band). The singer actually sounds a lot more like hatfield than blistered earths... I did think that was possible. his voice was a little roughed up from practice the night before. they sort of sounded like old metallica mixed with a lot of early slayer. Actually the second to last song's leading riff was very close to the one in angel of death (which KMFDM also stole and put in 99% of all their songs). they ended with trooper. and the best part is the PA came on with an Iron Maiden song after them.

red right hand: first off, I'm not really a fan of these guys. I don't really dig the talk-singing vocals. anyhow, they played a cover "black magic" for their 3rd song. that was cool cause I've only heard it covered once before. they played some songs off a new CD that is coming out. the guitar-riffs we a lot more interesting and "mature" from other things that they have done before. also, the basslines were a lot better and stood out more. in some parts they were even a touch groovey.

meliah rage: for those of you who saw them at the bombshelter late last year, you got ripped off. they were so much better this time. the old tracks were spot on.. well.. except for the singer's vocals. they were off. I think he might have had a cold or something.

candy striper death orgy: I was outside for the beginning of their set, but I came inside after a song. they got a pretty long set. it's coolto see arrick druming now compared to when he came back to CSDO last year. he's goten a lot better.

overkill: Their set was really good. they played a bunch of newer tracks that I really didn't know. Still, they had the stage presense that overkill is renound for. Excellent playing, funny stories and all. anyhow, I sort of tuckered my self out I guess. Basically, overkill playing "deny the cross" was the whole reason I wanted to really go to this show... after shooting, I went and sat down waiting... 15 minutes I woke up, having missed the encore! I don't even know if they played deny the cross.. I can't believe I fell asleep!

toggletoggle post by Todd_Bombshelter  at Apr 14,2005 2:27am
This show was way better than I thought it would be,I had to leave in the middle of Overkill, But what I saw of them was cool. My biggest problem about this club( or most clubs for that matter), was the fact that they had no Wheelchair accessible bathrooms,So I had to go to the Dunks next door and use the one there everytime, which sucked ass.Other than that it is a cool place.

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at Apr 14,2005 8:42am edited Apr 14,2005 8:44am
kristian and I decided to head out a little late since after jerking it for a few hours after work, only going for overkill. We had passed the place once, but finally found it.

Brett was already on the bus with dd so we met up with him on there and pretty much just watched van helsing's curse. BOBBY OFFERED ME A BREWSKY AND I TURNED IT DOWN. EAT MY ASS PEER PRESSURE. hahaha. All I gotta say about him is he's pretty fucking hillarious. So while we're sitting there, across from me sits the General Manager of The Palladium, and let me tell all you Palladium haters, she's probably the reason why anyone hates that place. Seriously, right off, I got the vibe from her that she doesn't want to talk to anyone who's not in a band. She's also really chunky, so I don't know why any band would want to talk to her in the first place ;) She did say Eric is annoying though.

Another funny story Blitz told us was that the club owner said that there were 700 tickets pre-sold! He was told this by the owner and the owner's son. Well, one of the stage tech's was asked how many people he saw in there and he said maybe 100. hahahah. So Bobby was going on and on about how retarded you'd have to be to try and say 700 people are at a club when there's only 100. hahaha. They joked about how 500 kids must have returned their tickets when they realized 'urge overkill' wasn't playing ;) One of them mentioned how Eric said he sold 100 tickets himself but was seen getting money out of an atm or something? I don't think he has enough money to pay for 600 tickets obviously. Either way, in this thread he said he sold 200 tickets himself. So anyways, bobby referred to the joke on stage when he said "It sounds like there are 700 of you motherfuckers out there!" haha.

Went inside just as CSDO was finishing up. Overkill came on and ripped up a pretty energetic set. Played tons of old unexpected shit and a few of the new album. Only one track from killbox :-\ No 'Play the Ace' or 'Crystal Clear'. doh! The show got over super late, god damn, I'm tired!

Word has it, the merch chick for Meliah Rage has huge jugs.

toggletoggle post by Distrust-Kevin at Apr 14,2005 10:15am
tickets, tickets, tickets. Give us this Day got booted from this show at the last minute cuz they "didn't sell enough tickets" GGGGGGGGGGAAAAAYYYYYYYY
If there was only 100 people there, that must mean each band sold 20 tix on average? Give us this Day had to sell 25 or not play the show. Oh well, they will rip it up on Friday with Powerman 5000 at the same club.

toggletoggle post by assman at Apr 14,2005 10:36am

toggletoggle post by Kinslayer at Apr 14,2005 10:37am
They really didn't play SHIT for old songs. I didnt know 3/4 of the set...

Rotten to the Core sound pretty killer though! That was one of the only old classics that they played...

I wanted to hear Deny the Cross, Wrecking Crew, Fear His Name...ANYTHING off the first two albums...fuck it though, I had fun.

That album doesnt touch Taking Over...power-thrash at it's best...

I use to play an Epiphone Les Paul; they don't play half bad..Bronze Series Walock on the otherhand...

O.k. Tom/Rusted Shit talker...... We sold 120 tickets for this show. I thought that I'd be able to sell another 80 before the show. But, some of us work for a living. You don't know that yet. You're just a little kid crying for attention........ The other bands didn't do what they had to do. The ticket sales from the first two bands were 60 combined. We had a total of 300 people come through the door that night. Not bad for a wednesday night. Nobody said that their were 600 or 700 pre-sold tickets (Tom making up stories again). I guess you didn't like it when Bobby mentioned my name, CANDY STRIPER and MELIAH RAGE a couple of times

For the record...... Bobby never offered you a beer. That's o.k. may'be you'll be somebody one of these days.........

Yes, I was offerred a beer on the bus, a hieneken to be exact. Kristian had one. They had no soda unfortunately which was a suprise considering Bobby quit drinking like 10 years ago.

I work for a living too, printing T-shirts (Overkill among many other bands) so eat shit faggo. At least I don't have to give out free porn in attempt to make friends.

Yes, the owner himself told Bobby that there was 700 tickets pre-sold. Why do you think he made the comment on stage about "IT SOUNDS LIKE THERE'S 700 OF YOU OUT THERE!" Only a handful of us knew what he was referring too.

There's no way there was 300 people there. Quit trying to make yourself look good.

KINSLAYER - OVERKILL played BLOOD AND IRON which is off FEEL THE FIRE!! (the 1st full length album) It was the 1st time they played it since 1986 when they first toured. I saw them open for SLAYER on that tour. OVERKILL have never lost a step live since then, this was one of their best tours ever.
They also played Wrecking Crew and Powersurge from Taking Over as well as the usual Rotten to the Core, Fuck You, Hello From The Gutter and Elimination for some older stuff. They also played 2 songs off of Horrorscope that they havent done in YEARS: Thanx For Nothin' and Nice Day...For A Funeral. The new songs were awesome as is the new album, they did WITHIN YOUR EYES, BATS IN THE BELFRY, LOADED RACK and old school.

RUSTED ANGEL said:

So what do you think you deserve a fuckin' medal? I had the first album (Feel the Fire) when it came out when you were still shitting your diaper and sucking your mommy's tit!!!
I dont know you from a hole in the wall, but from what I have read here a ton of times you seem like a very jealous little boy. All I ever see on here is you insulting Eric and CSDO. What's your gripe with him / them anyway?....seriously. Is it because you are jealous that they have been around for so long and people like Blitz and a lot of other bands happen to really like Eric and CSDO? The guy is as real, down to Earth and as cool as they come. Ive known him for years. I cant say the same for you, but seriously dude, whatever your gripe is settle it in person or move the fuck on, but stop crying like a little fucking girl about it here.

And NO, I haven't slept with him. We have too much respect for each other. In fact, I'm the female version of Eric. I have learn a hellava lot about the scene from him. Who to work with and who not to for one. I'm very selective on who I work with and those bands involved, who have been showing up to the Stone&Steel Fest meeting, know who I am and what I'm all about. I'm not just a pair of "huge jugs" to them.
