A lot of used custom shop guitars out there for decent money. Usually pretty nice.

most good companies have a 2 year waiting list now BUT thier are alot of amazing local shops. The guys the made the guitar for Tony from Vital Remains have a fucking sick shop running that could set you up with a guitar in that price range, plus you design your own body. i forget their name but mabye vital has a link to them.
The guy who did Tony's guitar used to have his own shop in West Boylston, Mass. Then Neal Moser, who designed the original Bich for B.C Rich and has made sick guitars on his own for 25 years, saw what the guy was doing and made him a partner, I think. YavCon was the old company name. I think he's out of Florida with Moser now, though.
