Evertime i go to the site I'm making for class the picture at the top doesnt show up, but it does when I'm looking at it in Dreamweaver.

did you upload the picture?

if so, make sure the image location is pointing to the right place:

i.e. "< img src="images/yourimage.jpg" > or < img src="yourImage.jpg" >

if you leave the URL, I can take a quick peek and tell you exactly what's wrong.

html is ok but i hardly see sites looking the same for people who use php or dreamweaver. I run a design and hosting company I know html but rarely just code in it. as far as pics not comin up in dreamweaver go to properties and maybe you have to bring the layer to the front.

blackdaysdawning.com or wg-records.com or alacell.com or wakeyourarms.com and show me a webpage made with html or ultraedit that looks that good. thoose are all made in adobe and dreamweaver and little frontpage

just learn html... its not that hard.

PHP is awesome and versatile, just not super secure. We used php on our site at www.masscore.comand it makes it so easy to update. However, We (by which I mean my partner Tim. I'm lazy, he did 99% of it.) used notepad to do all the HTML. It's just too easy.

As far as using flash, yes I do think flash sites look great. However, Flash sites are just like pornsites that only have streaming video. It's AWESOME until you're on a slow connection. I'd love to be able to create a site like www.2advanced.com but think of how many kids wouldn't really go to your site because their shitty dialup can't get them there.

Ironically, ever notice how many bands have flashy websites, but after a while of touring they'll post a new less intensive site saying that the other was too hard to update from the road? Simplicity is wonderful.

I typically use UltraEdit because it's search/replace is so much more advanced that notepad.
plus, it'll color things nicely.

If I'm doing something "hardcore" that I want to be able to debug, there is NOTHING that parses and debugs PHP better then zend studios.... since Zend wrote the PHP parsing engine, you can't beat their IDE. the only problem is that for small changes, it's got too much over head.
