THE CROWN prepare to mix 'Possessed 13'
Swedish thrashers THE CROWN, recently rejoined by original vocalist
Johan
Lindstrand, have completed the recordings for their new album,
"Possessed
13", and are taking a three-week break before returning to
Gothenburg's
Studio Fredman in mid-June to mix the effort for a tentative
September/October release. "It sounds very fuckin' great and we can't
wait
to release this fury upon your souls," Lindstrand wrote in a recent
online
posting. "It has gone very smooth in the studio, no problems at all
and
everybody is working their ass’ off. When we're not beating our
instruments
we are kickin' each other's ass’ in Tekken 4 and the undisputed
champion is
for the moment Janne. We have now tuned down the guitars even more to
get a
more deadly sound to the songs and it is fuckin' working, and the
fast songs
have become even more faster than the pre-production we did. As I'm
writing
this [on Thursday, May 22] I have only one more song to do vocals on
and
that's 'Dawn Of Emptiness', a mid tempo song that’s gonna end the
album
along with the instrumental piece 'The Endless Gate'. Marcus has also
some
solos left to do and the shit he's done so far has fuckin' blown me
away.
"Yeah, I got to tell you, it's great to be back in hell again, where
I
belong hehehe."

The tentative track listing for "Possessed 13" is as follows:
01. No Tomorrow
02. Deliverance
03. Face Of Destruction / Deep Hit Of Death
04. Are You Morbid?
05. Dream Bloody Hell (instrumental)
06. Cold Is The Grave
07. Kill 'Em All
08. Morningstar Rising
09. Natashead Overdrive
10. Bow To None
11. Zombiefied!
12. Dawn Of Emptiness
13. The Endless Gate (instrumental)

40GRiT’s bass player departs the band…
We are very disappointed to have to announce that Kevin Young has
decided to
leave 40GRiT effective immediately. "The fire is no longer within me,
I am
totally proud of 40 Grit and what we've done, and I will without a
doubt
give you all my total support." We all wish Kevin luck with what lies
ahead
of him in life. The band is currently looking for a bass player. Must
have
an open-mind, 21- 30, pro gear, pro attitude and MUST be able to
tour. For
an audition email info@40grit.com

Unfortunately due to the immediate departure of 40 Grit bassist Kevin
Young,
40 Grit are forced to cancel/postpone the July tour dates. The band
will
re-schedule the dates as soon as a new bassist has been hired.

Thanks for your understanding. The guys will be back on the road very
soon!

AMON AMARTH: Tour Report
Monday April 28. 7:00 AM, After one and a half day of rest at home,
since we
finished our European tour last Friday, we felt really that we got
enough
rest and were ready to hit the road again. (Well, not really…)
Anyways, this
was the time we had to meet at the airport in Stockholm and even if
we felt
a bit destroyed from the last weeks of touring and the short time off
that
we had, we all felt excited to be a part of the Metal Gods tour!

The ten hour flight over to the US via London went smooth and without
any
problems. At 5:00 PM we arrived in Detroit. The tour bus met us up
outside
the airport and we said hi to our tour manager Jeff, our sound guy
Kelly,
the driver Lindsey and Carnal Forge who was all on the bus with us.

The bus seemed really nice and comfy, it’s a 12-bed bus and we have
two
lounges for partying. (Yeay!) We found our places and started to get
to know
the people we would annoy for the next six weeks or so!

We found out we have a lot in common with the Carnal Forge’s and
since there
was no show until the next day, we started with a big party.

Tuesday April 29. Toronto, Canada. Today Johan (Hegg) and Stefan from
C.F.
has birthday! Crossing the border went without any mayor problems and
because we were all drunk we didn’t mind them searching the bus with
dogs
and shit.

Last time we played here at the Opera House was three weeks ago, it
was the
last show of the tour we did together with Deicide and now this was
the
first show for us on this tour! It’s always a bit difficult at the
beginning
of a new tour, to recognize all faces, knowing who do what, learn the
routines and all that, but we got well taken care off by the crew and
the
first show turned out pretty good for us.

After the show we went to a bar/restaurant next door with some
friends we
knew in Toronto to have some beer and dinner, and then we went back
to the
bus and had a really wild party!

Wednesday April 30. Woke up around noon and found out that we had a
guest on
the bus; one girl had (for some reason) followed us across the border
and
was now about 800 miles from home! Today was a travel day and since
we didn’
t have much alcohol on the bus, we drank what was left and tried to
just
sleep the day away. During the day there were some problems with the
bus but
it didn’t seem that serious.

Thursday May 1, 8 o’clock in the morning. The bus is not driving… We
had to
get up cause there was something really wrong with the bus and it
needed to
be taken to a garage. Luckily we were close to the Hartford venue so
there
were no risk we would miss today’s show! We waited at the hotel till
3 PM
but when the bus still wasn’t fixed by then they arranged a shuttle
for us
so we could get to the venue. The show was good for our part, we
still haven
’t decided what songs to play on this tour so the first show, and
todays, we
tried some different sets. Having only 30 minutes playtime and trying
to
squeeze in as many of our 5-6 minute songs is not an easy task!

During the evening the bus came back and was again all in order. The
after
party contained several beers, gin and tonics, whiskeys and it was
good fun.
We got a visit from one of the Immortals who partied with us.
Apparently it
was a pretty heavy night because he forgot to leave our bus before we
left
from Hartford but we don’t mind guests on board! Haha!

Friday May 2. New York, New York… We always played in Brooklyn before
so it
would be cool to play on Manhattan. We arrived outside the venue at 2
or
something and went right away to walk around a bit. We ended up in a
bar of
course… Back at the venue the rumour hit us; tomorrow would be the
last
show… I can’t describe this feeling in words, what had started so
perfectly
just shouldn’t have to end like this! We simply couldn’t believe it,
but I
guess we all knew… You could tell on the faces off everybody. We
tried to
keep a good face, but had maybe a bit too much to drink before the
show
because of this and it wasn’t one of our best performances. We tried
again a
new set, but it was simply no fun to play this day.

The party afterwards was only a success because of the high amount of
alcohol we got.
Saturday May 3. The last show… We meet up at the venue around 3 or so
(we
stayed at different places) and found out that it was confirmed that
the
tour was over. Our tour manager worked his ass of to try to get our
flight
tickets re-scheduled for tomorrow and find out what to do with our
merchandise. No one of us was able to think about it, or even care.
We
killed some time by sleeping the hangover away and then it was time
to hit
the stage. We wanted to play the songs with most aggression I guess
and did
the fourth different set on this short tour. And we must have played
them
pretty fast cause I think we had another four minutes to go on our
set time!

Luckily we were provided with enough alcohol today as well and we all
drank
until we passed out or at least until everything was gone. Taking
farewell
and thank everybody for the great time before we lost the ability to
talk
(and some after) during the night, then I guess we got on the bus…

If we forgot anyone, we would like to take the opportunity to thank
them
now! We also want to thank our friends out there who showed up at the
concerts, you know who you are! See you all next time!!

FALCONER
Update from Stefan:
Recorded all rhythm guitars during the first half of this week. It
went
better than expected. On Thursday and Friday Anders and I started
with the
acoustic guitars and the leads, both equally tuned down just for the
sheer
fun of irritation. The chromatic tuner went warm. Peder came to visit
with
his 4-stringed axe ready to strike. Why change the concept, the bass
was
tuned down too. WOO HOO!! Now it was Kristoffers turn to put down the
vocals
of his first Falconer album, bearing some tension with him since not
everyone was too satisfied with the lineup change. He soon showed us
once
more time that he did a killer job, the man who can’t be quiet. Not
getting
otherwise after getting acquainted with his friend in the Grant’s
bottle. We
continued with vocals and lead guitars during the first half of the
week.
Andy did some guest solos and after that we brought in the guests in
the
studio to do some singing backup singing, guitar playing, and
keyboard
playing. All of them contributing with own ideas of improvement in
the
music, something that brought even more new life to the songs for the
band.
The album finally starts to get the final shape just leaving the mix
to do
the final small adjustments.
