Pete is way too much of a nice guy to be in the army. That's crazy he joined the reserves.

that's gay. i would think that with all his political rethoric he would've avoided putting himself in that position.

on another note... i hope he makes it back safely cause i love benumb's music, and because NO ONE should be there. you have to give support where there's lack of choice in the matter.

Yeah it really sucks that he's got some form of duty and honor to his country and flag. Especially since all of us servicemen / servicewomen and veterans are all such brainwashed assholes.

You have really outdone yourself this time with that dumb assed comment, Joshua. Quite frankly, it's about the dumbest thing that I have ever read, that you have written.

If he's a Sergeant, he's been in for quite some time. So you must have known him at the very least for 5 years.

You really are the only living human being with not one single ounce of honor, duty, or committment in your heart aren't you? You certainly are not a pacifist, as your threats to fight me have told. It doesn't seem to me that you are a conscientious objector because even they have some form of patriotism in their blood. I really try not to get angry at you but I find that the more I read from you, the more that I hate you. I have never been so continuously pissed off at someone in my life. Are you just a wimp? Like, what gives man? What the fuck do you have against the Armed Forces? What could you possibly have against the country that provides you with the blanket of freedom that you sleep under? What?!?!?!?! I'm fucking baffled at all of your anti-Bush, anti_American, anti-Armed Forces posts!!! Did a Marine beat the ever loving shit out of you at one time?? Was it a Soldier?? Were you ass raped by a Navy boy? Did the Coast Guard bust you for fishing without a license by the direct order of George W.? Did an out of control Air Force pilot crash into your Grandmothers Cadillac? What gives dude?

i have nothing against people who serve on their own will, that's their choice and they're decesion and I thank them for doing it, cause it's something I'll never do. It's not that I don't have honor or a sense of duty, I just don't agree with this war. I'm way too ambitious to totally derail my dreams.

Holy shit, you just made my day.

But, just to clairfy a few things that seem to have gone over your head,
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a Sgt supposed to be a wicked tough guy? Pete is like the nicest guy on the planet and I just had a hard time picturing him barking orders at people. That's all I meant by that so get the sand out of your panties.

For someone who claims not to be brainwashed its interesting how you equate being anti-bush with being anti-armed forces and anti-america. I don't remember saying anything bad about america or its armed forces (other than that its commander in chief is a complete retard)

I don't see how getting killed so Dick Cheney can get richer makes you honorable though.

My brother joined the reserves and was called up for active duty. It was tough to call him a fool in front of my whole family, but I did.

Call him a fool? How in the Hell could you do that? The reason that we can argue like children on the internet is because of the freedoms that we have, which have been provided through sacrifice by the men and women that are brave enough and competent enough to give all that they know and love for the greater cause. Go ahead and tell any vet or current active armed forces participant that what they are doing is wrong and the last thing that I guarantee that you hear and see is, "You know nothing of honor", and then a fist in the face. We as service people fully believe in this country and our flag no matter who it serves. Your freedoms are a priveledge that you have chosen to take for granted. Any service member will tell you that. Look down upon this war and the President and everything else that you look down upon, but in the end....it is you who are honorless. Call yourselves "smart" and forthright in your activism against this war and war in general, but again...in the end, you are those that have done nothing to repay your forefathers for the freedoms that they have provided you with. Honestly, it is your teachers and parents who are to blame. No wonder WWII was the greatest generation of Americans. They had honor, pride, and dignity for their Country, their loved ones, their forefathers, and their Corps. Now ask yourselves, is the reason that you speak down upon those who do serve really worth it? Instead of badgering the public with your worthless and unwarrented opinions, thank a vet or active duty member......Your heart may glow with pride. You would be amazed at how good you'll feel having thanked those that provide you with your freedoms.

Nobody should have anything against the troops. I'm sick of questioning an aimless war being equated with hating the military. Service men and women protect our freedoms because the want to preserve our way of life and peace, in return they expect us to exercise those freedoms to protect them from harm and needless wars. Shutting up and following the government into whatever war they want to wage is the greatest form of treason. Our own government is so concerned with protecting itself that it is willing to betray our servicemen to further its own cause;this letter from a vet provides a pretty interesting take on the whole torture scandal.

When I was younger my grandfather was my hero. In early 1941 his older brother, a merchant marine and his hero, was killed when a U-Boat attacked his frieghter. Following our entry into the war my grandfather lied about his age (he was 16 at the time) and enlisted in the Marine Corps. My grandfather has a glass case of a few medals and single patch from Guadalcanal that he keeps tucked away in his house and he never speaks of his wartime experience, even when he and one of his comrades get together on Bunker Hill Day to reminisce about their service. They always tell the same post-war stories about being pelted with rocks and being spit on by homeless Germans while they were giving them food and blankets. Perhaps my grandfather enlisted with a revenge fantasy, he probably wanted to take on the entire Nazi army for his brother, but ended up serving in the Pacific for his country. My grandfather's experience really shaped my view of the enlisted servicemen, the average solider shouldn't be the target of anyone's anger at the administration because they're fighting for their families, for their countrymen, and for an end to the war.

What we really need to do is shut down the military industrial complex that makes war a profitable business, and go back to defending ourselves as members of citizen militias.

hey hoser, what were you in the army anyway? fucking colour gaurd or towel boy? maybe you havent seen the videos of troops in iraq ragging on bush and how pointless the war is, but that hasnt escaped everyone. most people join the army for money, not honor. COLD. HARD CASH. Ive got three friends in iraq and kuwait as we speak and they were all just trying to pay their way through school, so fuck your fucking ignorant tight ass.

The most recent thing I remember hearing from the troops was when they asked Rumsfeld why they were so under equipped for their jobs in Iraq. I have seen footage where troops oppose the war they are fighting as well. I think equating pro-troops with pro-Bush isn't reasonable if they troops over there right now think they are not being properly funded and equipped to do their job, nevermind if they are against the war or not.

To say you think anyone who joins the armed forces for money to pay their way through school should be killed is ridiculous, because your beloved marine core (and the army, navy, airforce, etc) advertise that point all the fucking time to get new recruits. In the meantime, people who join and have families and careers, are losing their homes to bank foreclosures because they cannot pay their mortgage properly, and Bush, despite alot of outside pressure from American military families and support groups, will not introduce legistlature to protect the troops homes, and what does it matter anyway since he has them ill-equipped to fight this war. They are going to die anyway.

I like the commercials that make the Marines look like dungeons and dragons. You kill the dragon, hold up your sword and morph into a Marine.
