awesome! and I say "fuck you" to the person that said derek wouldn't do his scream vocal.
jonah, what time will this get over

toggletoggle post by tbone_r  at Dec 19,2004 1:35pm
i'm trying to scrap some peeps together to go to this. however, if i get there and don't get in again (like the horse the band show) i will burn your house down.

<3 tom

toggletoggle post by JonahBloodbath   at Dec 19,2004 1:36pm
I think derek is the only band member that might not be there

toggletoggle post by JonahBloodbath   at Dec 19,2004 1:36pm
tom, its a deal

toggletoggle post by tbone_r  at Dec 19,2004 1:37pm
if this doesn't cover the money needed to keep it in business, are you gonna try to do other fundraisers? if so, how much time do you have to raise the money?

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Dec 19,2004 1:42pm
derek had best be there.
or I'm going to chop 3 inchs off his deeeek

toggletoggle post by JonahBloodbath   at Dec 19,2004 1:42pm
They need to raise $40,00 by Jan. 1st.

I wont be able to book anymore shows before then cause im going away for christmas. This show wont be able to save the center itself, but hopefull the money will help out while also raising awareness about the place. what we really need are some BIG donors to step in and be heros..

toggletoggle post by JonahBloodbath   at Dec 19,2004 1:46pm
and this is gonna be over by 11-11:30ish

toggletoggle post by tbone_r  at Dec 19,2004 1:47pm
40 thou? jesus christ. who exactly do you expect to donate 40 large?

toggletoggle post by tbone_r  at Dec 19,2004 1:50pm
maybe you should try to work in a 'save the music' type slogan...then ask newbury comics to donate money. cd stores are in trouble w/ illegal downloading and the internet, maybe a cause that promotes being 'real' and 'saving' music would inspire them to donate.

toggletoggle post by nick   at Dec 19,2004 1:52pm
im definitly going to this.

toggletoggle post by tbone_r  at Dec 19,2004 1:54pm
maybe you could talk to one of the big booking places to see if they can get a big band to play on short notice. tell them that you'll let them book shows there in the future.

toggletoggle post by scream_bleed_repeat  at Dec 19,2004 2:06pm
hey i just had a crazy idea that might work, why don't you try to get ahold of Diecast to do this, i just talked to the bassist a couple days ago and they are home from touring for a little bit, it's worth a try

toggletoggle post by scream_bleed_repeat  at Dec 19,2004 2:07pm

toggletoggle post by desperado at Dec 19,2004 2:52pm
so yeah

derek is possibly comming to this as well as the rest of shallows and flats.

a treat for all.

toggletoggle post by tbone_r  at Dec 19,2004 3:27pm
diecast can only play if they agree to play nothing off the new cd

toggletoggle post by JonahBloodbath   at Dec 19,2004 4:35pm
A. asking record stores to donate is a pretty good call
B. obviously were not gonna find someone to donate 40,000, but were hoping that we can get a handful of people to donate $5 or 10,000. Besides that shows like this have been raising $500-1,000 each
C. haha, I don't think i'd want to book diecast
D. psyched for shallows

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Dec 19,2004 4:37pm
I think I'm leaving in 2 hours.

toggletoggle post by tbone_r  at Dec 19,2004 5:17pm
is parking gonna be as easy as last time? last time being the horse tbe band show

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Dec 19,2004 5:22pm
I ended up parking 20 blocks away last time.
this time, I'm going to go there and get all the jewish people to jump out of my way.

toggletoggle post by lady_czerach NLI at Dec 19,2004 5:27pm
Jonah, I won't be able to make it tonight but please let me know how I can donate some money anyway. Shoot me an e-mail when you can.

toggletoggle post by xjoshuax at Dec 19,2004 5:38pm
i wish i had friends who liked shallows and flats as much as me and weren't working, cause i'd totally come up. unfortunately. i can't go :(

toggletoggle post by xjoshuax at Dec 19,2004 5:39pm
but i wouldn't be able to get up there utnil like 11-11:30, and would probably miss the entire show. and that'd be a waste.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Dec 19,2004 6:29pm
leaving for this now.

shallows and flats were amazing. i wish i had seen them in their prime

toggletoggle post by gorgish at Dec 20,2004 12:03am
i did vocals for shallows tonight

toggletoggle post by nick   at Dec 20,2004 1:37am
i agree, s+f was awesome.
even though it would have been better with the full lineup.

toggletoggle post by gorgish at Dec 20,2004 1:40am
they did the intro sooooo slow.
so much slower than they used to
it was weird

jonah's show at the BCCA aka 'these pictures will be posted in threads by most boston-area honey pumpers'

fruit salad: I don't remember them sounding so much like spaz before. the singer jumped around a lot and the crowd got into it. I could hear alot more than their show at the hoss.

within the fray: mallcore? possibly.. well.. in the one part with the clean singing, maybe. a lot of familiar faces in the crowd from the bombshelter show. you might know about these people from the "gay thread about dec 17th". they sounded pretty good here. also, I think most of them/their friends stayed for the whole show. they also gave me a shirt. I'm sure it's for having an amazingly whitty messageboard full of insightful commentary...er.. and by that I mean people calling each other ___core and questioning each other's sexual orientation.

disaster strike: hostage heart dropped out, but they filled in. a lot of people seemed to know their songs... I didn't. they may or may not have played last night at the library, but that info is top secret. It started off sounding like 90's college rock, instrumental with surf-punk under-tone, but then it went into basically just punk. their 3rd from last song sounded almost like a cover of sonic reducer.

as long as we're all living, we're all dying: I hadn't seen sam all night so I was starting to wonder if they were coming or not... their set began with some technical difficulties. but eventually it was on the way. they blazed through their whole set and thoroughly diappointed jayganihm by ignoring his addition to the set list.

shallows and flats: derek was there earlier... but not when the band went to go on. Also, doug was missing and presummed drunk in manchester. george (heuristic) was there to do vocals for them (yes larissa, those inhale vocals). Some other guy grabbed the mic from george too while he was singing. matt did some back ups. I'd say the best thing about the set was seeing desperado actually doing something again. though it was cool to hear the "old" stuff. this was no umbrella-esque reunion, but it was still something cool.

This show, besides being a complete cluster fuck booking wise, was a great time.

thanks a billion to Shallows and Flats for agreeing to reunite for this occation and Disaster strikes for offering to rock out literally like 2 hours before the show started.

PsyOpus and hostage heart both have members that are really really sick, so wish both bands well.

also, fun fact, even without a big touring band this show almost sold out. A lot of people left before the show was half over, so it didn't seem very crowded, but the turn out was actually pretty awesome for a sunday night with all local bands. We raised almost $700, which brings the BCCA fund raising money to over $15,000 right now. We still need $35,000 more so spread the fuckin' word!

anyway, as for my band our new bass rig was acting really weird and we didn't sound as brutal as we have been in practice. but oh well. come see us at our record release January 7th and hear alwalwalwalalaaad in full bass filled glory.

I had a great time tonight, the show was incredibly energetic and all of the bands played great. I've never seen so many kids "dancing" in such a smallplace in my life. It was awesome! When people do that it really adds to the atmosphere, it really makes it just plain old fun to be at a show again.

Best part of the night, was I was standing outside having a butt with some pals, and this weird guy is just standing there kind of out of place. I go to spit and it hits me in the nose. (How, I don't know.) And this random kis that looks super sketchy says: "Heh, it's kind of when you piss on your own balls!" I had no idea what to say. I was just like, "Uhhh, yeah dude. You got it." Haha, what the fuck?

I only paid a dollar to get into the show, it was all I had, honestly. I feel bad though, if anyone wants to give me an address or tell me where I can see the address, I want to send a few bucks over there to help out.

Sick pictures man, you never cease to amaze me.

Keep rockin'peeps.

sam was working all night at his ice cream store, got a ride to the show, played our set, then got a ride back to finish his shift. PUNK ROCK!!

thanks for coming multipass, shows are so much fucking fun when kids dance, and people rocked out for pretty much everyband.

my favorite moment of the night was when I showed dan (the director of the bcca) the smashed railing and he was like "well, hopefully $700 can fix that. actually, you should take a picture of me in front of it holding a giant stack of money"

toggletoggle post by JonahBloodbath   at Dec 20,2004 2:46am
also aaron, I like how your photos are getting arty-er. they look good dude.

toggletoggle post by tbone_r  at Dec 20,2004 11:23am
the bcca: where good hygiene is not welcome. the show was good, but next time you should hand out sticks of deodorant jonah, it was pretty brutal.

my favorite part(s) of the show (not including seeing shallows and flats) were a) watching the kids outside talking/laughing/high fiving each other for moshing so awesome b) the kid in the flannel shirt trying his hardest to push everyone in the circle pit to the ground c) the kid in the mcdonalds shirt flailing his limbs around and falling on the ground multiple times.

i'd be willing to make phone calls to raise money jonah, but i don't think i know enough about the situation to do so. if you wanna email me at ballsweat2002@yahoo.com with the complete information i'll see what i can do.

toggletoggle post by adam_time   at Dec 20,2004 12:01pm
this show was a great time, we had so much fun playing our set and we want to thank everyone who came out to help the BCCA. It's too bad half the crowd left after a while but it's their loss they missed out on alawalwad (who played their best set i've seen to date) and shallows and flats, who i'd never heard before, but they were amazing. everyone played well and the crowd was hilarious, there was a really good vibe going around the place and i'm glad there was a good turnout despite the hostage heart and psyopus dropping. thanks aaron for taking some rediculously fucking amazing pictures, we'll probably be contacting you at a later date asking to use a few. thanks also to fruit salad and disaster strikes for putting on a good show, thanks to ryan mussen't for stealing our bass back from us, thanks to chris's brother for loading/unloading all of our equipment, thanks to me for saying too many thanks's, it was a super bonus fun time night, aaaaaaand i'm spent.

toggletoggle post by adam_time   at Dec 20,2004 12:02pm
also i think i was the kid in the flannel.... i didn't know what i was doing, i don't dance.

toggletoggle post by tbone_r  at Dec 20,2004 1:12pm
the kid i was talking about wasn't in a band (i don't think)

toggletoggle post by JonahBloodbath   at Dec 20,2004 1:24pm
haha tom, half the brutality was me dude. I can't criticize.

haha, can you tell every time someone outside links? I know I it sometimes, but Im trying not to!

side note: disaster strikes is a pretty rad band. They used to be a lot more hardcore punk but now that they have a new line up they are going in a lot of other directions. I didn't hear any surf rock though, haha...

look out for them putting out a full length in not too long..

god damn this was a fun time.
